  1. So my kids and I have been playing through GHIII since this summer. It has it's quirks but we've gotten a lot of fun out of it.

I'm a couple of songs from the end of Hard. I seem to struggle with the metal riffs (raining blood, one).

I've enjoyed the set list, but I grow weary of it. So I bought World Tour for the kids for Christmas so we'd have new songs to play.

I'm kinda disappointed though. It seems WAY easier than GHIII. is this a known thing? Some of the minor interface differences I can live with, and I'll even forgive the Bon Jovi song. But so far after about 5 sets I haven't had to play one 3 note chord. And frankly, the number of notes in certain passages that get left out make the timing sort of hard.

I kinda criticized GHIII at first for making the jumps in difficulty SO LARGE. But, once I got used to the next difficulty level, I actually preferred them. Going down in difficulty became tedious.

I haven't tried expert on WT yet, but I hope it is more "Hard" than Hard is on WT.

  2. The Millenium Falcon AND Luke Skywalker leave Hoth at the same time.

Somehow in the time it takes the the MF to hop around space a bit, hide in a giant sock puppet, and end up on teh Cloud City, Luke manages to cram in 20 years of Jedi Training?

  3. Wasn't the DeLorean the car used in the TV show "Hardcastle and McCormack"?

<IRL> LOL I posted that to be an a** and make an obscure reference. Turns out, that in the 2nd and 3rd seasons of this show they DID use a modified DeLorean. I hate it when real life ruins a perfectly good joke. And now, back to teh troll.</IRL>

  4. It's a "DeLorean" people. If you're gonna reference a classic 80's movie, you need to get it right. Shameful.

No, a DeLorean comes with a trunk stuffed full of cocaine. sheesh

  5. is this one of those joke threads again or did somebody build a time machine

    You may never know.

    muahahahahahahahahha

    i call shotgun!

rest of u suckers can sit in the back... and it better be built out of a dillorian

    Dude, it isn't a dillorian, it's a d'nealian.

  6. Can you or should you?

Cuz, you CAN steam a turkey. You SHOULD NOT steam a turkey. That would result in a pale, flaccid, slimy mess.

Whether you adhere to the hot/low or low/hot roasting method (30 minutes of high heat at either the beginning or end) or the frying method, the result is the same. You need to cook that skin crispy brown for optimum nom.

  7. Fry it. And I don't care how redneck it sounds, it's the only way.

A fried turkey certainly tastes nice, but I find one major flaw: no turkey smell in the house. :(

To me, that is just as important as the turkey itself.

Also, who said we could orphan Thanksgiving anyways? I've always maintained it is the BEST holiday of them all, and now it is the red-headed something something of the holiday season. I mean, ONE DAY after Halloween the stores are filled with Christmas decorations. Last night, THE FREAKING GRINCH was on TV.

So kids, start a petition. Write your congressperson. Open your windows and shout, "I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore". ANYTHING! Just don't let the bureaucrats and the corporate fat-cats rob us of our holiday!

    Also beets.

  8. I do the brine thing. Though, some sources (e.g. Cook's Illustrated) are saying it is a bit redundant because most supermarket turkeys are already basically brined.

I still go through the routine though. 24 hours in vegetable stock/salt/aromatics. More of a ceremonial anointing, I suppose.

I also do two smaller birds (9.5 lbs each, or 4.31 kg for some of you), rather than one giant one. Shorter cook time; juicier meat; more white meat to go around. Plus, then I've got 2 carcases/4wings to make stock out of for the next day.

Of course, I've already made a brown turkey stock for the dinner itself. Never enough gravy from the birds themselves, so I roasted wings late last month and made a stock so I can supplement my gravy. After all, you've got to have enough gravy for dinner, leftovers, leftovers the next day, and the day after...

  9. I found out tonight that my ex-wife of 10 months is engaged to the d00d that she was... well... you know... while we were married.

Don't care so much... well, I do. But maybe not for the obvious reasons.

not like after what she did to me I'm sitting here awaiting for her return.

Anyways... that's it. No need for regrets to be posted. It is what it is. There are bigger things in life that we deal with. Mine is small in the grand scheme of the cosmos. (Chamber, yours is the true loss. I never posted because I didn't feel I had any words to help you.)

And, for the record, I pretend to be all bitter and cynical about all this for lulz on this board. Truth is, not so much.

See y'all on the other side. :-|

  10. Questions? Did you mean to post this in the Fallout 3 thread?

    D00d. I srsly meant Oblivion.

You know: pick one of over 9000 equally creepy races. Then captain Picard asks you about your sign. (he totally wanted me).

  11. Anyone here wanna point me to a good beginner's guide to the game... there are many, but not sure how many are that great.

I made a player and mucked around a bit to get the feel. But now I want to recreate a character and not just guess what to answer for the various questions, and create someone I can use.

Any character creation advice would be nice.

  12. my $0.02

I've usually purchase Sony TV's, and have been consistently satisfied. My general feeling is you pay a bit of a premium for the name, but generally get a good product.

That said, they have a somewhat confusing array of sets in any given size. There are S's and W's and V's and XBR's, depending on the day, week, current lunar alignment, or the result of a random product name generator.

Do a little research. XBR is generally the best overall set with the premium sticker price. You can often get another Sony set from one of the other lettered lines with similar capabilities for less. There is some disagreement whether these other sets are really as good as the XBR, but I suspect there is a lot of subjectivity here.

    Cheers,

    CEM

  13. Got my replacement card, installed it, and now my lappy is back up and running.

As I replay this weekend in my mind, I remember actually noting that my framerates were bad... even mentioned it in teamchat. Also, the bottom of the lappy felt warmer than normal, in the vicinity of the video chip. Funny though, I wouldn't think that a video card going bad would be progressive (framerates dropping). I would expect it to be sudden. So, probably no correlation.

    oh well.
