  1. Im glad that dx10 cards are starting to come out. The sooner the better.

Edit: I just looked at the specs. :=

    Core Clock: 575 mhz

    Memory Clock: 1800 mhz

    Memory size: 768 mb

    That's amazing.

I think for my next system, I'll be getting an Nvidia card just to mix it up. I'm normally an AMD ATI guy.

  2. You shouldn't have any problems finding a mobo that supports IDE. In fact, I have never seen a mobo that doesn't have IDE. My rig has lasted me for a couple years. Granted I have replaced the video card once, but it still runs the best games out there.

  3. Buy an xbox 360 and the HDDVD player for it. Just an fyi you will not be able to get an HD-DVD player at walmart for $20 in the foreseeable future.

The HDMI thing you shouldn't worry about. So far only Warner Studios is pushing the ICT (Image Constraint Token) that will force down-converting when using analog connections (DVI is digital so you shouldn't worry, plus you can find the connectors for relatively cheap, if not an HD-DVD player with DVI out) and at this point even they have said that it won't be until sometime in 07 that a film will have ICT and that it will be clearly marked on the packaging (personally I think it will never happen).

So far HD-DVD players are going to start around $500 USD (and still don't support 1080p) so expect to see MS to start selling lots of 360's with the HD-DVD player (I mean, for $100 more you get an xbox that does 1080p...no brainer)

If HD DVD becomes the standard format for movies in the future, I will probably use that to justify getting a 360. :biglaugha:

  4. if you're trying to do a fresh install on a fresh sata hard drive there should be no extra steps required as long as your sata controller is enabled in your bios. usually it is enabled by default but stranger things...

In both my motherboards, it was disabled by default, sot it's not uncommon.

    what brand?

ECS for one, and DFI for the other. I take it back though. On my ECS board, it was disabled, but im not so sure about my DFI board.
