was at office max and saw a 19 incher for like 300 or so. samsung. that was awhile ago. its an awesome screen though. i got a 17'' samsung syncmasta. the best lcd out there. recommend samsung

ok, i think i am gonna try to return this x1600 pro and put my 9800xt back to work. i will also just order that gig of ram. sitll concerned that my comp wont be able to use it to its ful potential since it came with 2700 speed. it can use higher 3200 cant it? also, how much performance boost are we talking? i can live with a constant 40 fps or so.

aight, gonna decide on a price range. if i do go for those new parts that u posted, would i then go for a pci-e card or would i keep my agp one(s)?

ok, just looking at those links u gave me. basically what you are proposing is a total revamp of my basic cpu. lets say i were to do something along these lines, how much of a performance boost are we talking about? I am seriuosly considering just buying a whole new computer because this one seems to be way ouot of date. The only thing holding me back from doing so is the rumor of the new gen mem and vid cards coming out soonish. if they are 1 year or more away i can safely say i am going to do some major upgrading. i am open to your thoughts before i start looking at new comps to buy (plus my case is just crappy, thats more than enough reason to upgrade). By the way if i were to get those 3 parts you told me about nofx, wat would i do aobut my vid card situation? could i go pci-e? or would keeping the 1600pro be best? cheers. for cujo, i went to device manager. dont know where to actually find my motherboard info, but this is 1 thing that might or mgiht not be helpful. yep its like trying to teach math to a ADD kid, i just dont know wats going on. well i was talking to my friend and he thinks that my motherboard might no be able to take advantage of pc3200. he thinks it could be too old and will just be a waste of money. is there a way to test wat speed ram is a computers max?

ya i tried those 2 lines, but not in the autoexec config. i can make configs but dont know how to make em autoexec. all this hype about new gen ram and vid cards, is it true and when will they be out? i will definitely upgrade my ram. about the vid card, i guess i am stuck with it unless i am forced to go pci-e. in that case i am sure i can sell it or return it, depending on the time frame. oh well, live to learn learn to forget. wat about this ram, seems pretty reasonable. i guess i want the pc3200, not the higher ones like the 4200. some ram

yes sir, when my 1st cpu test was over i thought i would never see any number but 0. i was right. not so good. i dont know how to insert an image without a url, so here are the results. i lost 3dmark score: 1764 SM2.0 score: 682 GT1 return to proxy: 4.992 GT2 firefly forest: 6.368 HDR/SM3.0 score: 718 HDR1 canyon flight: 6.566 HDR2 Deep Freeze: 7.786 CPU Score: 742 CPU1 Red Valley: .236 CPU2 Red Valley: .373 All those numbers are in fps. Yippee!!! i dont think reinstallen my driver will help too much. Hmm. really dont want to get a whole new cpu, might have to though. yep, that dude and i have awesome cpu's

hmm, never thought about my ram. good catch, it is the slower type isnt it. might try upgrading it as a start. need to see how the mark test runs first. doin that now.

will do. my in game gfx are all on low, bilinear, simple reflections, 1024by768 or watever that middle one is. basicaly i have toned down everything to the max with no results. i will take a look at this link and check some reviews.

well, to start with, my fps can get to an accepttable level. when i am not near fighting i have gotten about 60 or 70. usually its around 20-35, with the los and choke. i did say that i experienced an fps drop, although i meant more of a large increase in choke and loss. i cant tell u how many times i have reformated with no change. i will try reinstalling my vid card driver since i just used the one on the installation disk that came with the x1600pro. i tried a benchmark, fututermark, 3dmark03, and got about 42 for my fps and around 20 for my cpu. not too great. i really dont wanna pumpp money into another comp since i really dont have any to do that with. will try reinstallen vid driver. all suggestions welcome. i thought maybe only having l1 128 kb cache was a bad thing

interesting. so upgrading/buying a new computer is a better idea? i am not the type to really customize my own comp with parts from new egg or anyting. i have always bought stock or so from best buy for reasonable prices. i am sure my friend will help me build a new pc. what is a good processor and such to get? sheesh, cant believe my comp is already outa date. thought it was decent. gonna be a poor man after all these comp upgrades. call be a big sap, but this would probably be close to wat i would get and where i would get it from. go on, i am ready to be called names and such for the price and such. of course, this is if i dont just upgrade vid card new comp
