  1. So I tried to overclock my q9550 from 2.83Ghz to 3.0Ghz, nothing big right?

Wrong. It won't even boot at 3.0ghz. Right now I have it at 2.906ghz at voltage 1.208V. I haven't changed the voltage cuz ive seen that lots of ppl can overclock to like 3.6ghz or better at only like 1.24V.

My memory is rated at 1066 speeds, so I've always had them at that in the bios. When i try for 3.0ghz, it auto changes it to like 1133 or something close to that and wont boot. So i thought ill change it back to 1066 when it does that, but still wont boot.

    Won't boot at FSB 353mhz at 8.5 multiplier but will at 342 x 8.5.

This is very sad I can't get it any higher, am i forgetting to change something in the bios? What can i do? I'm not looking to go higher than 3.0ghz, just right there and i thought that shouldn't be very hard with this processor.

My system specs are in my signature to see what I'm using. Any suggestions? I'm kinda frustrated.

Also my FSB:Dram is 2:3. Shouldn't that be like 1:1 for best performance? How do i get this.

  2. I'm using the CoreTemp program and also the RealTemp program to monitor temps. Coretemp tells me around 40-44C idle. Realtemp tells me around 35-39C idle. Therefore I don't know which one to trust more. I do know it never breaks about 50C under load now though, according to CoreTemp (the higher of the 2 programs)

My case has good airflow, actually great airflow, but i keep the fans on medium/low rather than high to keep noise down.

I'm also running my computer under my desk, on a carpeted floor. I'm constantly cleaning the filters of dust, and its prolly not getting the best air circulation under there as opposed to on a desktop or somewhere. The CPU runs the exact same at 50C or at 20C. You can't see a noticeable change in performace and i know its not "overheating" at 50C so im not worried about it atm. Plus i expect the quadcore to run a little warmer than a dualcore.

  3. ok so i went out and bought the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro.

Now here's where i got mad.

When i went to remove the stock heatsink, i noticed that 2 of the screws that i thought were tightly in place, really werent tightly in place. I friggin checked the heatsink to make sure it was in there but obviously i didnt yank on it hard enough because i guess it wasnt fully on there. I guess i was scared of breaking something so i didnt pull too hard on it.

I'm not returning the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro because well, i wanted a better heatsink/fan anyway. But it still makes me mad when uthink you've checked something but you didn't catch it the first time.

And the update is, idling at 42-45C, under load around 50C.

  4. My mobo is screwed in with 9 screws in every single hole available. I don't quite see how the mobo will bend.

So which cooler do u guys think will cool my Q9550 the most because right now it idles at 50C and gets to 70C under game load. I REALLY need to cool it down.

  5. Thanks for the info guys, but I was hoping to get a cooler that i won;t have to remove the motherboard to install. I really don;t feel like pulling everything out right now.

And yes dweezil i just recently built this comp. I put a tiny dab of AS5 on the CPU, I don't believe its too much or too little, but i haven't looked at it since i put on the heatsink.

So all those heatsinks with brackets require removing the motherboard right?? Ugh I'm no longer looking forward to this...

  6. So I'm running an Intel Q9550 Socket LGA 775, and when I playing CS last night my comp froze and restarted. Well I got back in, played a bit, then checked my CPU temps to find that it was running right around 70 C. It's not overclocked, Voltage at 1.2, and I'm using an Antec P182 case. My mobo is an Asus P5Q Pro.

So i figure I'm gonna buy a 120mm fan as an intake fan in the front, but i also want a new CPU cooler. I found the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro. It's fairly inexpensive, and i was wondering if anyone has used one of these? Is it good? Do those pins just go directly into the mobo without any bracket installation?

    Please let me know!

  7. Where do i apply for Admin? I'm willing to put up the extra $20 for admin, cuz i was there when this happened and its another admin body available if others are not. That is, if I'm approved of by everyone.

  8. We need to be able to disable the votemap as long as there is an admin in the server that can change if necessary. Yesterday we were all in there and Lunk was in there (who has full admin) and people kept rocking the vote, upon which a map would be voted and then change immediately. It was very annoying to say the least. We need to disable this feature or just have it somehow disabled when admins are on. Isn't that how the mani admin did it?
