  1. Eh, something is fudged with your comp. It sounds almost as though its a software problem though and not a harddware problem because it doesnt happen any other time than in CS:S and ZP, and your stuff doesn't show fluctuations in processor load or anything. Maybe uninstall and reinstall? Get rid of ZP? Did it start only after u downloaded ZP because i heard that games uses some resources, even though its not that graphic intensive, prolly poorly coded.

  2. Save some money and find a cheaper mobo. You don't get anything worthwhile in a high end mobo that you cant get for a much cheaper one. Just check the reviews to make sure its quality. Check out mine in my sig, plus its a crossfire board for if you ever decide to go with 2 radeon cards.

What size monitor do you have and what size do you plan on ever getting? Any video card like that one will be overkill if you don't run high resolutions as ive been told by Cujo and others. So there's no need to spend your hard earned cash on something unnecessary.

And yeah you could go with the other PSUs as they are prolly just as good quality, i never think of thermaltake when i think PSU.

The processor is up to you, i like my q9550, which im gonna get over 3.0ghz whenever i decide to do it. Whether you get the quad or 8400, you prolly won;t notice a big difference in speeds anywhere, just benchmarks.

I almost got that case, seems decent.

Also, your board comes with onboard sound. I just found out like 2 weeks ago when my X-fi xtremegamer sound card just stopped working, that when i took it out and tried the onboard, it sounds EXACTLY the SAME. I like it. The card is still good, it just had some issue with my vista that got screwy so i took it out. Maybe wait and see how the onboard sound is before you go spending on a soundcard you may not need.

All of this can save you prolly a couple hundred bucks. And if you want, put it towards one of the better Quad cores with a higher FSB and L2 cache, like the q9450 or q9550. The 9550 is cheaper than the 9450 right now, for some odd reason.

  3. Ok quick question on the ipod touch. Ive been trying to get songs from it to my new computer, and it wont even let me put songs into the iTunes library. I can't figure out a way to get the songs from my 8gb iPod touch to my new computer at all. I've read that they took away the iPod touch as being recognized as an external device so it never shows up in Explorer. How the hell do i get my music to my computer? I saw there are some programs out there you can download....should I? Anyone help? I'm running Vista Home Premium 64 bit.

    uhm, what?

    option a.

try and authorize itunes (under the advanced menu) with your ipod. if your ipod was filled from itunes (old computer) that was registered, that should do it.

    option b.

    jailbreak your touch using quickpwn.

    http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/4404107/QuickPwn21-1.zip

then grab your files by ssh or sftp.

so, dumb question...why not plug your old computer hard drive into your new computer and copy all the files, not just the ones on your ipod?

too complicated, don't wanna rip out the old HDD from the computer thats still fully entact and useable. And um, I think i tried that authorizing the itunes thing, but I'll double check. And let me see if my warranty is up or not, then I'll jailbreak it if it is.

Oh and as for a case, I have one from XtremeMac, http://www.xtrememac.com/cases/touch_2g/tuffwrap/index.php

Its amazing, rubber silicone covers the entire thing but the screen, nice if you drop it. Comes with a thin clear film for the screen, don't even know its there if you put it in right. Doesn't stick that much in my pocket but does on hard surfaces so it wont slide anywhere. They have some good cases there.

  5. good, i always thought we needs to password that thing, but um, you don't think people will randomly guess that password? i know ive tried joining things with a pass before and the first things i guess are the name of the group and variations thereof. Not that I ever tried joining for bad reasons, its just happened :P

  6. Today i want everyone to do themselves a favor, get up off your lazy butt, go out on the town with your significant other, or if you're single, go out somewhere with friends and meet a real live person away from your dang computer!

  7. Well, i have built 2 computers around Antec truepower PSUs and havent had an inkling of problems with them. I think antec is good quality powersupplies if u need a new one, i ran my last rig for 4 years almost day and night and it still runs strong, but i have this new build now. Trying to figure out what to do with the old one still... :D

  8. i join directly to the forum website and it doesnt remember my name or password either, if i start typing my username in then it remembers it and i select it and the password is put in automatically but most sites that remember that stuff have u logged in already when u go to the website. dont know why it does it the way it does but oh well.

  9. I just bought that CPU, doing great so far.

I just bought the GTX 260, not 280, running good so far (And its alot cheaper shaft, if you dont have a huge monitor, buy it instead)

That motherboard is overkill, i looked at it also, and what is it going to get you that a cheaper one doesnt? My board is great and cost me half that.

Make sure you get vista or xp 64 bit. Or the 8gb ram wont be detected.

I bought that same PSU only the 850 watts. You wont need 1000 unless you plan on doing 3x SLi or something crazy, with lights and whistles. Get a cheaper smaller PSU.

Thats my 2 cents, i just got this brand new rig up and running yesterday!!! I loves it. You can see the specs in my thread called "New Build Suggestions" i believe in this section.

  10. Well, along with the theme of antec cases, I should have this one arriving tomorrow with my entire new build im making. M2 also just got this case for his new computer, as i got the idea from him.

Think im gonna go to Microcenter sometime after i build it to buy a 120mm fan to install in the front though, for an intake fan for more cooling.

  11. Ok, so i just bought everything from newegg yesterday and today. Here's what i got...

ASUS P5Q Pro LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard

    Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 Yorkfield 2.83GHz 12MB L2 Cache

    G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) (Two sets of these for 8GB!)

    EVGA GeForce GTX 260 896MB 448-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16

Seagate Barracuda 500GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive

    Antec TPQ-850 850W PSU

Antec P182 Gun Metal Black 0.8mm cold rolled steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case (Couldn't pass up that deal with the PSU to save me $60 M2, thanks for showing me.)

    LG Black DVD/CD Burner

Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64-bit English for System Builders

    Logitech MX518 Gaming Mouse

Total cost after MIR's and discounts came to $1285.89

The next step will be to buy a new monitor, but i really don't need one right now since I can use this 19" widescreen and i have an extra monitor to use for this computer i have right now. I will also reuse this keyboard for the time being, along with my SoundBlaster X-Fi XtremeGamer sound card. I really hope everything comes working, and that it all works well together. I'm excited!

Oh I also forgot to say that everything came with free shipping, booyah!
