    GC Inflight Announcement

    Whenever I have a chance, I'm on the server. I try to keep things pretty light, and lately I've even (brace yourselves) started using my microphone. SOMETIMES even when I haven't been drinking. I can't say I've been present for any admin foul language, though I'm sure if I am, I'll say something. I'd love to get some community events going, but my work schedule is so sporadic that I can't commit to any kind of regularity. I'll keep playing till the plug is pulled, because it's pretty much the only multiplayer game I play.

    This program does the trick for me. The way it works for me: Open the program, go to preferences, set your Recording Device to your sound card (if it isn't there by default; you may need to restart the program after changing this setting), in the main window next to the microphone volume there should be a drop down menu where you can select what source you want to record, choose wave. Start the record, try not to clip.

     

    Hopefully this will work for you.

    Here's another song I just threw together today. Simple instruments, the vocal harmonies were fun, and I think they mostly work. Cheap, awful, pentatonic solo.

    Here's a new one. Some vocal foibles (forgot to EQ, inattentive volume automation, questionable biological tuning, etc.)

    My guitar sampler is having an armed conflict with my updated version of Cubase, so I had to make do without. As a result, it's in an unconventional style for me. What style that is, I'm not entirely sure.

    So I wrote a rap about Starcraft awhile ago, but never wrote any music for it. Until now.

     

    A couple warnings: Most importantly, it has quite a bit of NSFW language, so I'm not even posting the lyrics here. Also, it's extraordinarily goofy, so be sure to make fun of it as much as you like, that's what I made it for.

     

    Again, strong language advisory, so if this needs to be removed, it's understandable. It is meant purely for entertainment.

    With my quick look at it, you'll be able to send an output from the PA to a computer (through RCA jacks, probably need an adaptor unless your computer has a dual RCA input), but all your instruments will be on one track.

    I find with Behringer, you get decent quality stuff, but you really have to treat it well because my experiences show that they're not all that durable (pre-amps, mixers, effects processors) though I haven't tried their mics. Of course, you should treat all your gear with caution, I've just had more bad experiences with Behringer gear than, say, Alesis, Yamaha, Shure, AKG, or Sennheiser. But Behringer has nicer prices.
