I would suggest getting an external enclosure as opposed to a passport or other external hd.

then, you could buy a new hd* to run your OS off and use your current hard drive in the external enclosure..

* - I have a couple of the hds ZD linked to in raid and they are quick (and quiet)

odd - I get 7-8k servers to show up now... and the friends,recent, and favorite features are all working as well.

lag is fixed, server browser is fixed - go ahead and add gc on your favorites - gooooo goooooo

I wouldn't panic about the GC server not getting action right now. Once MP is stable (lag and server browser mostly), players are going to be choosing servers based on the same criteria that made our css servers so popular... this game has some potential to hang around awhile too..

-good game mode (which will be hardcore imo - similar to the scopeless nich in css). Eventually I see us having a standard and hardcore.

-admins are consistently on and managing the game (hackers, tk'ers, clean server, etc)

-TK'ing is handled appropriately - in some of the game modes, TKs happen alot and there are auto-kicks / bans which I feel are not forgiving enough (nuketown w/ 18 players..

-# of players on server - not sure if we'll be able to control this, but we should be looking at 12-16

putting together a desktop for my sister-in-law and brother-in-law and could use some help for component advice - haven't done a build in years.

It won't have to be too powerful - mostly web browsing, office suite, and some civilization (whatever that is).. I'm working on my brother in law to get in to some fps, so I'd like it to have the capability to run some fps w/ decent graphics at 1900 x 1080.

I did that in summit county for 2 winters.. (my dad has had a ski shop on the east coast for 30 years.. so its always been something i wanted to do)... I lived in Dillon, skied breck,a-basin, keystone, copper, vail, and bc every day..

you're better off going to tahoe, jackson, any other resort in the northwest, or even utah.. seriously..

If i had to do it again.. i'd go to BC.. for some obvious reasons..
