  1. I gotsta tell ya. I am loving scavenge mode...not so much Vs. anymore, still the rage quit issue, but you tend to get through a whole round, best of 3 or best of 5, with very little rage. I am aces with the spitter...it's like being a sniper.

  2. I never got what all the hype was over CoD 4 MW in the first place. I bought and played it on the PS3 and the game just felt like it was missing something. The graphics weren't superbly amazing, the storyline was OK at best, and the multiplayer (well at least on a console) wasn't all that fun to me. I think too many people are buying into "The few, the proud, the marines." slogan with these games. Everyone is all worked up and all about supporting our "modern warfare" troops in the middle east that whether or not its an actually good game, it comes off as AWESOME!!! to most people. I on the other hand didn't really enjoy it.

Yah, ummm. That's not why I played it. Actually it took me 3 mos. after release to even pick up multi on this game and play. If you had a good team, a great PC, and good foes, this is one of the most wait/twitch/response/run n gun/blast away combo games ever. It provided a real variety of tactics and outcomes in MP mode. You just had to be there, I guess.

  3.

    Maybe I'm not 1337 enuf?

    Ya..... :)

I like the tweaking. In fact, that's why I loved competitive gaming on the PC. Change your default FOV depending on the type of player you are (madpat liked fov 80, I like it at about 90 or 95, blah blah blah). Customize keys for changing weapons and movement... it's pretty much endless. OR you just go with the defaults.

But why would I buy this for PC if they're pretty much asking me to play with no hands? I had a lot of fun with cod4 on PC. Not this time I guess.

    ditto

  4. good lord, you PC gamer people are such a bunch of emo cry babies! :wiggle2:

Playing video games on a console is like solving a rubik's cube with mittens on...you may get the experience and even the end result, but it is vague, slippery, and tedious in the end.

Long live the original box of fragable death...the pc.

    oh and p.s.

The ONLY reason video games and video game makers like Infinity Ward have a cool set of dev. tools and a fan base to begin with, is the pc fanboys.

So...you would be stuck in the world of 8 bit graphics and 2-d if not for us... :biglaugha:

  5. We still ... sorry... You still have a server that I would be able to play with you guys on? I thought that got axed like a year ago!?

I can't in the next two days (friday i'm a guest speaker and musician at a coffee house

    Open mic night?

    cool

Um, I think I have UT2k4 installed somewhere, but time is the factor...no more late nights cursing and throwing beer cans, since the little lady arrived. Hmmmm...maybe a weekend night, soon?

  6. Well, I've been in education for 13 years, and invariably when something is wrong with the student (non-viral, of course) something is F***ing wrong with the parent. In this case, a sick child should be kept at home and cared for, with no regard for the parent's schedule and priorities. Not...so...much, eh? This translates in so many ways. I have parents that cannot bring their failing child to extra help sessions in the evening, because they have a blind date with one of their many hookups. I have parents who accept at face value the fact that their HS age kid says "I don't have homework" every single freaking night, because it would put a kink a THEIR schedule to follow through with holding their child accountable...

    meh...

    welcome to the future America.

  7. Well...what games you looking to play? Maximum pc just did an article last month with a $600 gaming pc that is pretty darn good. Check it out.

The recession special has a 4870 512mb gpu and triple core AMD decent mobo and memory...nice setup. I bet it 3Dmarks within 15% or so of my machine which I built for more than that about 15 months ago (minus the GPU).

I must say...the vid card I have MSI GTX260 core 216 is highly overclocked and runs all the games I want to play really well...it was only $159 after m.i.b. You can find it still on newegg.

Good luck, it is a good time to buy a low cost gaming computer.

  8. Well since prices fluctuate daily, it would be better and more informative to get one closer to when you wish to purchase it. For $500 this is what I came up with. Mind you, this is not the best for gaming, for that you need to up your price range a tad.

    About $540 w/ $25 MIR

If you have other parts it may help to drop some cost as well

Ouch, that case, mobo, PSU combo is iffy. I bought a case, CPU, MSI mobo, generic PSU combo for my folks from TD, and I had numerous problems with the chipset drivers for mobo included on a CD and d-loaded from TD. Plus that case has a generic 250 watt psu...that isn't enough enough power to run the cpu and vid card...no way.

Get a decent, reliable prebuilt last gen core2duo, 8xxx nvidia gpu, with 500gb hdd and 4 GB ram from some guy off of craigslist or ebay...you can find them bro...you can.

  9. Hey guys!

I haven't died yet, as you already read in the topic title. It's much worse than that - I'm a first-year teacher.

Right now I'm actually living in a town called Emo in NW Ontario. It has a booming population of 1200 or so, and that's why it's taken me 4 1/2 weeks of living here to get the internet.

Now that I am connected to the world again I dont really have much time for that sort of thing. In a 4 period day I'm teaching 5 classes - 3 maths, a physics and a business course. I love the school/kids, but the work load is pretty demanding. Oh yeah, and I'm the IT contact for the school, so if there's a problem they call me.

Well, Kid...thus it begins. All those drunken nights I was on playing ONS cursing the world...yeah...that was 12 years of teaching high school.

I can say that since starting in 1996, I've never been bored at my job. They really lay it on first year teachers. The time will fly, and years from now, when you are old (at least feeling old) you will wonder where the time went. The kids keep you young, and unlike most of the population who isn't in the public service field, you can say that you lived a part of your life to serve total strangers.

Never let them give you S*** about "teachers work 8-3:30 and get all summer off..." You earn your pay in this job, with the weekends, the late nights, and doing everything to help the kids but get them dressed and feed them. You have a physical, mental, emotional stake in the future of other humans, and that means more than a salary, a title, or any bonus.

    Good on ya bro!

  10. Anybody have an update on a license for Vantage?...I don't wanna keep posting 3Dmark06 scores when I oc but it's all I have. Still valid for me, as my efforts are showing some improvements.

Got my GTX 260 c 216 running at 660 core and 2100 memory...my e8400 is now at 3.6 ghz. Running the 190.62 drivers.

    New results:

16,257 3Dmarks, that is up from mid 15,000s. I'll take it.
