  1. If you dont need weights and dont NEED wireless, get the g5. it's the same thing except with a wire, and it's $40 off. Thats just over half price (55.5506% actually). You dont have to use the weights. I have 4x4.5g weights in mine, on the corners. I had more in, but wanted it a little lighter. It's a great mouse!

  2. So I think I will keep the card I have wait until DX10, and get a new one...but in the mean time I think I will get a 939 x2 4800+ while they are still out there and ride that for a couple of years..What you think?

Careful... I put that idea out there and Cujo threatened to slap me silly!

that's cause you already have a 4200+!!! lol.

heh... that's the reaction i was looking for! :halo:

  4. Sorry guys, been out of town hunting. Got a bull moose 350 yards :D

Anyway, no havnt tried that. My HDD is WD 250gb SATA2. I'm told it could be a lan port problem, so i'm looking into that at the moment. thanks for the help thus far!

edit: i was able to download and install superpi 32 (which i couldnt before). I ran everythign on it and it was fine. Ran prime95 for 8 hours - 0 errors. I did change 2 settings for my ram and the problem has seemed to go away, except for with 3dmark06. argh... :) but i'm glad everything else seems to be working perfect... so far...

  5. So I MAY have fixed the problem. I was able to download 3dmark06 finally. I went to install it and it got to the very and and gave me an error reading:

CRC error: The file C:\ProgramFiles\FutureMark\3DMark06\3DMark06.dat doesn't match the file in the setup's .cab file. The medium from which you are running the setup may be corrupted; contact your software vendor.

I reinstalled windows on Saturday. It's a brand spankin' new copy of XP Pro (SP2). This doenst sound like a hardware issue to me, so is it a Windows problem? Please dont tell me I have to reinstall Windows again! :bang:

I did the reformat before I fixed the RAM problem (if it is fixed), so could this affect it? ARGH

  6. I love my 4800+...and truthfully, I plan on keeping it for 2 years...

I had my 4000+ for almost two years and it is still a top notch proc and good overclocker.

I suppose unless you HAVE to have the best of the best (i.e. Core 2 extreme or FX-62) this proc is about top of the line except for the uber-733t ones mentioned before.

Unless you have already maxxed out your vid card processing power with super SLI and crossfire and find yourself severely limited by your cpu, then i'd say get one...b/c i don't think you'll see mmore than a 5-8% gain in gaming performance...

But, the other side of my brain says get it, b/c it will be a good proc for the next 2 years, before it is totally outclassed.

There really aren't any games now that can tax a 4800+ to the limit, especially if you have good vid card set up and 2 gig of ram.

    imho

That's what I was thinking. I've not had my 4200 for 2 years though, but do plan on keeping my system for at least that long. Actually, 2 years and I'll be out of school paying back OSAP, hopefully getting married in the year after, etc etc. Dang, still single. Lots of work to do... :D

  7. dark, i'd slap you if you bought a 4800 to replace that 4200.

    :=

Point taken. Quick formula: 4800+ to replace 4200+ = :boo:

    Got it.

Question: (not for me, for roomy) is buying a 4600+ instead of a 4200+ a waste too? I tried to tell him...
