Ok, so recently I've been been playing X-Com: UFO Defense again...it was one of the greatest games ever made...if you haven't played it, go find it here.

The game is incredible, and I was just wondering who else used to, or still does, play it.

Also, I found this really cool site that is making a more modern version of the game (basically), and now I'm psyched!!!!

    Note:

On Abandonia, you can find a ton of really cool old DOS games. You can ALSO find X-Com: Terror From the Deep (the sequal) and X-Com: Apocalypse. X-Com: UFO Defense is on the website as UFO: Enemey Unknown if you're looking for it, and it's in the strategy section. 100% free! :boing::boing:

I use to play that game all the time! Flying around the world to combat those pesky invaders! Building bases, funding bases, expanding the bases, buying jets and funding research. Really great game.

Now I'll have to play it again.

I think I hate you Mav.

  2. Communication, Chris.

Does she know how tore up you are about all of this? Talk to her. You may not like what you hear, but at least you'll be able to figure out where you stand.

For anything in life, form your gameplan off of what you know, not what you don't know. The best plan in the world is useless if its based on inaccurate or hypothetical information.

    Good Luck.

Oh sure, while I was writing a dissertation, you just go with a short, straight to the point post.

    Whatever heh :)

  3. Well, the only advice I can give is to talk to her about it. I have found that unlike men, women like to talk about feelings and relationships. So sit down with her, tell her that you really like her alot, and that you would like to know how she feels about you. Be calm, have your thoughts orginized, and listen without prejudice to what she is saying. Do not jump to conclusions! Do not raise your voice or put her on the defensive. This relationship is in its infantsy, it is still very fragile.

If the answers about her feelings are possitive, then you can talk about when you can see her. You say that her schedule is very hectic. So get a calendar, and try and plot out when you two can get together. Be prepared, perhaps you could have 5 or 6 planned dates ready before you talk to her. Going to the zoo, movies, picnick, whatever. Then all its about is fitting them in to her schedule.

If that gos well, then you can perhaps git into her habbit of ignoring you when she is with her friends. But I might wait on that. If everything has gone well so far ending it on a sour note might not be the best idea.

At all times remain calm. If things do not go your way, do not yell or intimidate her. If you trully love this woman (three months is kinda fast, but who knows) then you do not want to create a chasm between you and her. Just remember that if it is ment to be it will happen. Just be patient. And if its not ment to be? Then its better to know sooner than later.

    Hope that helped.

  4. As of January 28th, 2007, I am 19 years old.

    Yay.

Heh, this year my birthday rolled around and I hardly realized it until about two weeks ago, I guess it just becomes less important when you're starting to get older.

    Happy Birthday!

Please don't speak of 19 as being old. Making me feel down right ancient.

  5. and xmen 3 rocked

I hope you're kidding. X3 was easily the worst of the three X-Men films.

Of course you could use that same thinking and argue that out of the three main chocolates, Dark, Milk, and White, that white is the worst of the bunch. Does that mean its terrible? Not really.

P.S. White Chocolate is the worst of those three because its not chocolate. heh :)

  11. It is possible that the CIA did find some WMD weapons. Saddam is not a moron, he could have been disposed of them. We did give him what, 2? 3? 4? days to give up? I think thats enough time to do something to those weapons.

Now that is an interesting idea. Bush and Co claims their is WMD to start a war. He finds some, but tells everyone he didnt find any. Instead they repeativly find jars of gas and a couple of missles and use that to justify WMD. Why would they possibly do that? Not trying to be sarcastic or anything, but I can't see any reason possible they would want to make theirselves looks like they straight up lied to everyone.

WMDs were a media reason. You have to have something big to sway popular opinion. I guess violating 28 treaties of war since the Gulf war wasnt enough for us morons. :P

There is no such thing as a 'treaty of war'. There are treaties, which are agreements, not laws. And then there are concessions a defeated opponent makes to end hostilities. One is entered into freely, the other is not. They are two different things. And yes, violating a treaty is not a valid reason to go to war, unless that violation involves an imminent threat to us. Hence the WMD argument. They are linked, not seperate. However, since there were no WMD's, then yes, the supposed violations of the concessions from the Gulf War was not enough to justify the war.

  12. A treatie is not a law. It is an agreement. America has a history of breaking or backing out of treaties. The treaties that America broke with the Native Americans are to numerous to list, the treaties with the Native Hawaiians are also to numerous to list.

Just to name a few treaties or promises America has 'broken' recently,

    The Anti-Balistic Missile Treatie (ABM)

    Landmine Treatie

1972 Treatie banning biological germ warfare

    Nuclear Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty

America Dropped out of the World Conference against Racism

America Failed to ratify 3 of the 6 core International Human Rights Treaties

We have failed to pay our U.N. dues for decades and now owe over $687,000,000

We backed out of the Kyoto Protocol

We, along with China, Lybia, Iraq, and Yeman voted against the ICC (international criminal court) charter designed to punish war crimes and hold countries accountable for BREAKING TREATIES. We signed a much weaker version, then our goverment signed a law allowing the US to use all nessesary means, including military force, to remove an American being held by a ICC court in any country for war crimes. And then we backed out of the ICC agreement as well.

We broke International law by using cluster bombs in civilian areas

There are more, but why bother?

Whats that saying? Don't throw stones if you live in a glass house or something?

Another famous saying is that treaties are made to be broken.

One of the only treaties that we have entered into lately that seemed like a good thing was the Moscow Treaty. Unfortunatly its a sham, the treaty states that Russia and America must cut their nuclear arsenal by 2/3 by Dec. 31, 2012. However, the treaty expires on Dec 31, 2012. See the problem? Its provisions never enter into effect. Nice bit of trickery there by Putin and Bush.

To use the argument that since Iraq broke consessions that were forced on them we get to invade them with a clear conscience is ridicules.

I suppose I could, but I really don't have that kind of time to devote to bouncing bunnies. Unless I'm with Heff, then I'll devote lots of time to bouncing bunnies heh :).

  14. I like this arrangment. I especially like the limit of two AWPs per team. Nothing is as annoying as facing a team with six or more AWPs.

I think I'll be spending more time on the midwest servers, West tends to get AWP heavy. AWPs have their place, just don't think they should be so prevelant.

This individual was countinually spraying a vulger picture at CT spawn. I told him that that was not permitted and to please keep his picture to himself. He laughed, and sprayed it again next respawn.

Please make him disappear. I have a spare rug if needed, and access to a landfill.

  16. Unfortunately the only people you hurt by stealing/downloading/copying media are those that work 20+ hour days behind a camera/mixing board/instrument. Not everything sells like Britney Spears, there is a vast majority of people who work in the industry who rely on people buying media. If you even had a clue of the potential costs involved in producing said media (CDs/DVDs etc) you would understand why people who pirate are the scum of the earth (except we rape the Chinese so a CD doesn't cost $50+).

It's like Robin Hood stealing from the rich who employ the poor and not giving it back to the poor. The rich survive and the poor get screwed.

Artists with major record deals make $0.05 on every $20 CD. Thank you for stealing it. If you think they make too much money, don't see them live, that's where artists make all their money.

Thank you, I was going to make that point, but you beat me to it. Its very easy to say, "Stick it to the man!" but 'the man' is very rarely hurt by your actions. It is inveriably those in the lower rungs of the company or industry that are hurt by your civil disobediance.
