  1. US commanders claimed to have killed more than 1,200 insurgents in the November battle, dealing a serious blow to the insurgency. Before the assault, Falluja was a no-go area for the US and Iraqi military.

But in a graveyard, known as the "martyrs cemetery", Fadhil counts only 76 graves. In houses he finds other bodies he suspects were civilians.

pathetic...i cant believe our military would have to inflate the number so much to make us sound like we are winning...thank god for reporters like this guy who goes to these areas and uncovers the horrible US military's lies

  2.

I just watched a Simpson's episode tonight, the one where airplanes fly over the Simpson's house, and their portrayal of Fox News was classic.  Same kind of thing, just the other way.

Not that that's on topic, but I thought the cartoon was funny.

    i saw that episode too!!

"This just in: Democrats hate America"

lol that ticker is sooo funny

  3. a simple news story from a credible news source i guess would prolly work

just not something from a BLOG

or of couse i could start posting stuff from democratic underground as fact if people here want to accept non-credible news sources

  4. Moore then pulls a stunt which had the audience in tears. He spoke with Representative Porter Goss, who was defending the PATRIOT ACT. Gross informs Moore that problems with the PATRIOT Act can be reported by calling a toll-free “800 number. We then see words flashed across the screen, informing the audience that there is no “800 number, but that Goss does have a private telephone line, as he flashes their (202) office number across the screen. Once again, while Moore won a few laughs, he was lying through his teeth. The U.S. House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (where problems with the PATRIOT act can be reported) does have a toll-free number, though its prefix is (877). The number is 1-877-858-9040.19 Somebody ought to tell Moore, so he doesn’t have to go through the trouble of yelling it over a loud-speaker in an ice cream truck again.

this isnt a lie...there is no "800" number...if there is an 877 number mr. goss should of said there was one

He lied throughout the entire movie: Fact. Valid points made by Moore: None.

You can not lie and still have valid points.

ZD your own article said that he DIDNT LIE

he put of facts then put up his opinion of the facts....no lieing

  5. whoa...i agree with soul here

there is no way we can do away with standardize tests, without them schools can have very inflated gpa's

and if your a good kid or a teachers favorite im sure that your gpa will be inflated also

standardize tests are the only way to judge every student against each other...do i think they should be required for graduation? no

but if colleges want to look at them i agree 100% with that

WASHINGTON (Jan. 12) -- The U.S. force that scoured Iraq for weapons of mass destruction has abandoned its long and fruitless hunt and is assisting in the more immediate task of counter-insurgency efforts, U.S. officials said on Wednesday.

President Bush and other U.S. officials cited the grave threat posed by Iraq's chemical and biological weapons and Baghdad's efforts to acquire a nuclear arms capability as a central justification for the March 2003 invasion of Iraq. No such weapons have been found.

The 1,700-strong Iraq Survey Group, responsible for the hunt, last month wrapped up physical searches for weapons of mass destruction, and its mission is now refocused on gathering information to help U.S. forces in Iraq win a bloody guerrilla war, officials said.

''You can only search so many places for WMD,'' said a defense official, who added that the ISG continues to review documents and interview people knowledgeable about deposed President Saddam Hussein's arms programs for possible leads.

Charles Duelfer, the CIA special adviser who led the ISG's weapons search, has returned home and is expected next month to issue a final addendum to his September report concluding that prewar Iraq had no WMD stockpiles, officials said.

''While the actual physical search is over for all intents and purposes, it's not closed in the sense that while this (document exploitation) operation continues ... if they stumble upon something in the course of that effort that says the stash is there, they are certainly going to run out there and look for it,'' said another U.S. official.

The U.S. official, who asked not to be named, added that the team that had conducted the actual physical search was back home.

The defense official, who also asked not to be named, said Marine Corps Brig. Gen. Joseph McMenamin was replaced last month as the ISG's military head by an officer of lesser rank. The defense official said Air Force Col. Lloyd Somers is now serving as acting director of the ISG.

Duelfer's role as the CIA's special adviser on Iraqi WMD is unchanged, an official said.

    'JOB NO. 1'

''The mission is weighted differently to providing intelligence support to the MNFI,'' said the defense official, referring to Multi-National Force-Iraq, the U.S. military command there.

''Obviously, I would say that counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism is kind of job No. 1 over there for everybody,'' the official added.

U.S. forces are locked in a bloody struggle with insurgents in Iraq, and the U.S. military death toll since the invasion stands at more than 1,350, with 10,000 more American troops wounded.

The Washington Post first reported that the ISG had ended its weapons search and said the White House had been reluctant to call off the hunt, holding out the possibility that weapons had been shipped out of Iraq before the war or well hidden inside the country.

White House spokesman Scott McClellan told reporters that he believed ''a few people'' in the ISG were still focused on finding any weapons of mass destruction.

''(Duelfer) is continuing to wrap things up at this point on an addendum to the report which will be issued some time next month,'' McClellan said. ''That's not going to fundamentally alter the findings of his earlier report.''

The Duelfer report concluded that Iraq had no stockpiles of biological and chemical weapons and its nuclear program had decayed before last year's U.S.-led invasion.

The findings are contrary to prewar assertions by the Bush administration, which stated in the run-up to the war that Saddam possessed stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, was actively reconstituting his nuclear arms program, and might provide weapons of mass destruction to terrorists to attack America.

i cant believe we still had soldiers wasting their time searching for WMD

i guess this puts a period at the end of the search and is kinda a slap in the face for bush

  7. I did not say they were not bias.  I said if you want something that is not bias, go do some research of your own.  newsweek, NY Times, and many others have already debunked Moore.  Many just refuse to believe it.

these articles didnt "debunk" michael moore...they just pointed out that he lied a couple times...which noone disagrees with...but to say that he had no valid points or had no facts in his documentary is a lie itself

  8. this principal needs to be fired

i would of been really mad if my senior ball had been canceled...

what next, no touching while danceing...no slow dancing, no holding hands

    :boo:

  9. :bang:

that site cracks me up...it takes the same facts as moore had and just spins them the other way

Fahrenheit  9/11 begins on election night 2000. We are first shown the Al Gore rocking on stage with famous musicians and a high-spirited crowd. The conspicuous sign on stage reads “Florida Victory.” Moore creates the impression that Gore was celebrating his victory in Florida.

Actually, the rally took place in the early hours of election day, before polls had even opened. Gore did campaign in Florida on election day, but went home to Tennessee to await the results. The “Florida Victory” sign reflected Gore’s hopes, not any actual election results. (“Gore Campaigns Into Election Day,” Associated Press, Nov. 7, 2000.)

no lie there..he never said gore was celebrating an already won victory...if you come under the wrong impression that is the viewers fault

Even if the premature television calls affected all potential voters equally, the effect was to reduce Republican votes significantly, because the Florida panhandle is a Republican stronghold.

this site is really credible :boo:

Moore’s editing technique of the election night segment is typical of his style: all the video clips are real clips, and nothing he says is, narrowly speaking, false

    well i agree there

Michael Moore shows a clip of CNN analyst Jeffrey Toobin saying that if ballots had been recounted in Florida after the 2000 presidential vote, “under every scenario Gore won the election.”

What Moore doesn’t show is that a six-month study in 2001 by news organizations including The New York Times, the Washington Post and CNN found just the opposite.

moore made the movie...he can put in whatever he wants too...unless people believe in censorship

There were two major problems with the purge. First, several states allow felons to vote once they have completed their sentences. Some of these ex-felons moved to Florida and were, according to a court decision, eligible to vote. Florida improperly purged these immigrant felons.

lol...good job backing up moore there

Second, the comprehensive effort to identify all convicted felons led to large number of false positives, in which persons with, for example, the same name as a convicted felon, were improperly purged

again admitting that moore is right.... :boing:

i wont go on cuz it would be a waste of my time...did moore mislead a tiny bit...sure...but i still believe he is a hero for standing up for what he believes in and trying to make a difference

micheal moore = swift boat people (execpt moore has facts :P )

  10. And you never bash Bush.  Twice in about 12 hours.

lol and you complain about bashing

in high school i often learned how to best guess answers...for those worthless comparing things on the SAT's (forget what there called but its like Orange is to apple as carrot is to ____ a) Jazz B) coach c) squash d) boogyman )

in english class we would go over how to do these...not actually learn most of the words...just how to figure out which one is the correct answer :boo:

in math class we would have whole units dedicated to test taking that had nothing to do with the math course :boo:

all so our school could get high scores and then get more federal $$$, our schools have been turned into businesses competing against each other

    ================

    edit

    What the?...at this smiley B)

  11. this should of been the main issue of the election..not lame marriage or moral issues

i went to one of these schools that was in the "overcrowded" category

classes were huge, teachers were over-worked and students instead of being taught to learn and taught to succeed in life i was taught how to do well on standardize tests

i was offered classes on the SAT's and in every class we were forced to be taught tactics to taking tests (we had the CAPT test soph year)... :boo:

  12. You are basing your opinion on some fiction puppet movie?  Well... I do suppose it has more credibility than Michael Moore's movie but please, get real.

i dont know what your are impleying about my opinion by saying "get real"... :boo:

if you want to believe that the middle east loves us go ahead...its your right, i cant make you think that there is a lot of hate in the middle east for America

so much hate that we actually invaded a country to stop them from threatening us

anywayz i think its unfair to critize the united nations people

they went to the diaster zone...George w. bush hasnt...

i think that if he went he would have a catered meal and stay in a nice hotel, but i guess we will never know 8P)

  13. There has been bush bashing since he became president and in these forums from the day they existed.  There hasn't been much in here since he got legally re-elected without any major fraud.  There has been plenty of Bush bashing in here for a long while and I will not go back and search through and do something you can do yourself.

so since there was "bush bashing" you decide its time to democrat bash

2 wrongs dont make a right

  14. He's Back

The California atheist who unsuccessfully sued to get the phrase "under God" out of the Pledge of Allegiance is back with a new version of the same suit and another one seeking to prevent members of the clergy from praying at President Bush's inauguration, reports Religion News Service.

Dr. Michael Newdow refiled the pledge suit in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California on Monday. In the new case, Newdow has been joined in the suit by three families who include atheists and claim they are offended "to have their government and its agents advocating for a religious view they each specifically decry."

Newdow says he also filed suit in a Washington district court to try to stop clergy from uttering prayers at Bush's Jan. 20 inauguration. He said in the filing that such prayers make him feel like a "second-class citizen."

    i like this guy

  15. Let me straighten this up for you.  You have continuously ignored what I've said 3 or 4 times now.  This is the last time I will say it.  My opinion of those Idiots are those in congress and the senate who acted like idiots last week.  SO unless you are one of those people, then my comments were not in reference to you.  I've also already told you,  if you truly believe I am attacking you, then by all means report my post otherwise, stop your whining about them.

if by those idiots in congress not being the people in these forums i think you need to rethink insulting them

how did they get into congress?...hmmm

    they were voted in!

    how were they voted in?...hmmm

by representing the values of the voting public!

why would it offend me then when you call them "morons", "idiots", "stupid", etc?

because by insulting the people that represtent me, you are therefore insulting me

if that makes any sense :bang:

  16. vikings vs packers...this could be my upset of the playoffs...something just tells me that culpepper and moss will have a break-out game...but if moss doesnt score two touchdowns or have at least 150 yards recieving the packers will win...ill got with vikings

moss had 2 touchdowns and some guy threw 4 interceptions....WOO WOO

  17. I never said i approved of torture..  I was just pointing out the fact that the elected democrats who are making a big deal out of it are the same people who think abortion is perfectly acceptible, thats all...

think abortion is acceptable or the right to choose is acceptable?

    there is a difference! <snip>
