  1. That's too expensive or close to it. The Pi is $35 by itself. You can get or build your own case for around $10. Another $10 or so for the SD Card.

These for power and HDMI if you need one to display to monitor or TV. I use them without a problem:

Cool case that I got for mine for $13 bucks: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AZL16S4/ref=oh_details_o08_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I got my Raspberry Pi from here and the pricing is good. You want the B-model. The A model lacks some key features.

OR THE BEST DEAL is the starter kit from Neward. For $41 you get the B-model Pi, case, power adapter, and a 4GB SD Card with the default OS on it.

  2. Turned computer on hoping it would feel better, but there was a loud bang from the PSU, it's now in the hands of the insurance company. Will be a couple of weeks until it gets resolved.

Read this after my other response about it being your PSU or motherboard. That system is 6 years old and it's impressive it lasted this long without any issues considering how much you use it. Consider it a sign of some mystical origin and put together a new computer. Start a new thread with what your budget is and we'll help you out.

I do have an older Core 2 Duo system just sitting right now that I can send your way if you need something fast. It's motherboard, CPU, and RAM and that's it. Let me know.

  3. Just won't boot, nothing happens, except lights go on, fans work, but no more beep, monitor says there is no signal and yes I re-checked all cables etc.

Most likely motherboard or Power supply problem. Hard to say with the information provided and without any spare parts to troubleshoot with.

On another note: BACK UP YOUR SHIZ! If you have stuff that is that important, get an online backup solution that does unlimited and backup important stuff like that. I have very little and small stuff so it goes into my Google Drive or Dropbox. Or you can pay for the space from Google Drive and back it up there. Either way. BACK IT UP!

  4. Hey guys, so as the title explains, I am joining 'Murika's NAVY in September, so if you think I barely play anymore, well, you're in for a surprise.

    An update from this thread:

    http://gamerscoaliti...my/#entry504246

Pretty much, they threw a ton of money at me. I am joining the Nuke field, with a signing bonus of $11,000, and advanced rank progression. After two years of intense schooling, I will sign up for a new four year contract worth anywhere from 60-90K, depending if I am MM, EM, or ET (my job specialty title).....So that's a grand total of six years (if I don't re-enlist) and around 80K.

I leave for boot camp September 9 for Great Lakes, and at a nine week boot camp, that's graduating right before Thanksgiving.

Great Lakes is in Illinois, pretty much right in between Chicago and Milwaukee, on the shores of Lake Michgan. I'm going to freeze my tookus off!!!!!

My Navy bootcamp was November through February in Great Lakes. That is cold. You are getting there at a good time I think. Good luck.

  5.

I agree this was the purpose of the second amendment. But honestly, do you think that reasoning still applies? It would be a massacre. The general public with their guns vs. the US. military... It would be exactly like Iraq. We stand absolutely no chance in winning against the US military. If anything, you would have pockets of resistance taking out a solider or two for a decade. No matter how you spin it, anyone with a clear head would acknowledge the fact that civilians with guns don't stand a chance. With that said, you should take that into consideration when forming your stance on guns.

As far as a 3d printed gun goes... It's a shame politicians are using guns as a reason to shut down 3d printing. 3D printing will revolutionize industries. There are people who don't want to see things change. Do you remember when you had to drive to the store to buy a movie, game or music. Right now you can print off basic stuff, like forks, buckets.. any odds and ends you would need specially made. It's only inevitable you will be able to print off your consumer goods, rather than having to travel to the store.

Don't let politicians slow down the advancement of society with scare tactics.

It's rare that I agree with you but in this case I do. Although I don't think the point of an armed citizenry is to take on the US Military but rather to remind those in power that we will not be easily run over by tyranny.

  6. Replaced my seat this past weekend. The stock seat was killing me; my tailbone was hurting bad after about 30 minutes and my right hand would be tingly and my right thumb would go numb. Probably a pinched nerve in my tailbone.

Got a Mustang seat with some arch support and the passenger seat is more comfortable by default. I also had to get my state inspection so I got that done all in one go. Now I want to replace the pipes to add some sound.

  7. I would start with the Power Supply. Sounds like it may not have the juice to power everything. Maybe unplug all of the fans except the CPU fan and unplug all the drives except the OS drive and see if it can boot up then. If it does, then I think PSU (Power Supply).

It could also be a motherboard issue but start with the PSU.

  8. It's been in the 30s the last few days early when I wake up. Stays chilly most of the day. If it was 50~ when getting up, I would ride into work. Lots of rain tomorrow so no riding into work no matter what.

yea dude.. even if it's slightly cool you need gear. Its the wind more than anything. If you don't have any bike gear, just a jacket, any kind of gloves are better than none and boots will work. So why do you feel like it's vibrating more than it should? Once you get used to it, it will feel as natural as walking.

I got everything I need I think. I would like a jacket that is better suited for group rides but I can live with what I have. I have a full face modular helmet (I can open the face portion up to make it open face). I have a high visibility jacket with the liner for warmth and water resistance. It also has arm, shoulder, and back armor but it still comfortable to wear. I have the warm weather gloves with knuckle armor (protect against rocks and projectiles. That poop would hurt hitting your knuckles 60+ mph). I got the no-slick boots so I do not slip when putting my feet down at a light and having the bike fall on me. And I got some mesh pants that go over your current pants with knee armor and plenty of ventilation for summer commuting.

I will get more stuff as time goes by. Would really like a simple leather jacket for the upcoming group rides. As for the vibrating, I will have to wait and see if it just me adjusting or if it is normal. The squeaking though is not normal.

  9. But how is a feeling of the first ride?

It was quite nerve racking at the very beginning. Never been on the open road until then. I drove around the block a few times and stayed on the side roads with little traffic. It was also still early in the morning on Saturday and most everyone was still in bed. Once I got a feel for the controls and foot placement, I ventured into town and to the bike shop and the like. Then after I got my mirrors adjusted (I could not see jack at first) I took it out on the highway where the speed limit is 55. I took it up to 60-65 on a stretch and went about 10 miles before turning back. It was quite cold and I was near my limit.

The initial open road ride is a little scary until you get out there and do it. I am a super cautious person and riding a motorcycle is counter to my personality so once I got past that it’s all I wanted to do. If only this cold snap hadn’t come out of nowhere. WTH

  10. Went on my first solo ride with the bike on Saturday. Been kind of chilly / cold here since we got that rain on Friday. The bike may need to go back in to be looked at; it does have a 30-day warranty. It vibrates more than a twin 800cc should vibrate. I also think one of the brakes may be sticking due to the squeaking when I take off after a stop.

  11. Sucks, but atleast you'll still have that great feeling of looking forward to something thats going to epic, like the feeling of waiting for christmas or your birthday.

Also where'd you get it at? a used dealership or from someone just selling it?

Dealership across the border in West Virginia. About an hour drive away.

  12. Heh, I left parents house 6 years ago. :)

I live on on my own, but I always talk about important things with them. You know, life experience of theirs and such.

However, I'll buy a bike whether they agree or not. :) don't know when yet.

If you haven't already done so, take the MSF class. The Motorcycle Safety Foundation class will typically net you your endorsement and you will get a discount on your insurance. Most importantly, you learn some valuable stuff in the class. Check with your local dealers and see which ones host the classes. They are about $150 or so for the class.

  13.

Sounds like a request to become a board member. Also, though you dont game much, you are a long standing member who contributes a ton to the forums, so even just staying a $15 member would be nice to see.

Board members are invitation only and I wouldn't request such a thing.

  14. Woowoowoo, I'm so jelly! Nice looking one! Be careful.

I was talking to my father if he is fine if I buy a motorcycle... Nope :(

Tell him you are going to do it whether he allow you to get one now or you get one when you move out. And that it is better that you get one now so you can learn and be safe under his guidance.
