leprechauns scare me. And they make me laugh.
Well, time does not permit me to hit up any bars right now, so store purchases may be necessary in my case. I gotta find something or a couple of options so I can much more easily succumb to the peer pressure when the social events do take place. Anonymo seems to know his stuff being Irish and all. Mags is a natural, I am sure. The rest of you just scare me.
-
I guess I should have clarified. hehe.
I am not looking to get drunk. For social reasons due to where I work now, I will on more than one occasion be in a situation where beer may be the beverage of choice. Getting drunk is stupid IMO but a drink or two every now and then is alright.
-
So I was thinking... I am not a beer drinker. I really dislike it for the most part. My question is this: What beer would be good for a none beer drinker? Is there something that tastes better than the typical sewage you find in a Bud can that a none beer drinker would appreciate? I imagine you should not have any input if you are under 21 (unless you are in the military since many countries allow drinking at 18).

How overclockable is that RAM?

I am assuming this is a joke as well. http://yhbt.mine.nu/
These guys are responsible for the fansubs of Bleach and Naruto, both Anime series.
I don't think its legal to impersonate a closing of a website by the Department of Justice. I highly doubt it.
It was fake.

You could always go this route: http://www.fatwallet.com/news/index.php?storyid=717224
Up the CPU to the 4200 model and add another Gig of RAM to put it at around $709. Comes with a 20 inch wide screen monitor.
Then go this route for the video card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814143084

This is a good one. I had to double check to make sure it wasn't true. http://www.techarp.com/showarticle.aspx?artno=391

Do not worry. We will hopefully have this thing at a reasonable price soon enough: http://www.thatgameblog.com/2007/01/07/fir...o-card-unveiled

Most every modern laptop these days have Expresscard slots in them.

Just do not expect much for performance out of those turbocache like video cards.

The powers that be changed their mind on letting me keep the monitor. I had finally talked Gateway into honoring the warranty on the monitor. Oh well, the powers that be can now pay for it.
-
I had the asshat level 2 tech ask me questions like: "What button did you press to turn on the monitor" and they only asked me a dozen times where I bought it from after I told them each time I did not buy it. He then refused to help me and cut off the chat.
-
Wow, their web tech support is just down right pathetic. I will remove any personal info from the log when I am done and I will post it up for your amusement.

On Tuesday of this past week, we had this Technical showcase here at work where vendors such as Dell, Apple, Microsoft, Gateway, HP, and others along with student engineering displays were set up. Companies such as Gateway and HP gave away some stuff as door prizes such as an HP work station with a dual-dualcore-Xeon, etc. Well, they also gave away a Gateway FPD2185W 21-inch Widescreen Monitor which you can read a review of here: http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1697,1921687,00.asp
That is really nice with the HDTV built in and what not. Anyway, the next day, it just would not power one at all. One of the students won it and it is basically dead. Well, Gateway just sent a replacement and did not want the old one back. Guess who has it now.
I am going to look into getting it fixed if I can not do it myself because it would be worth spending 100-200 on it to fix it with the built in 1080i HDTV capabilities. I just thought I would come in here and brag.
My bubble may bust if someone says it has to be inventoried, etc. I hope not though since it was a door price that got busted.

Thanks for all the ideas guys. I talked to a couple guys at work that had recently used Dell's customer support and they said it was good. I've also heard that not too long ago they realized how stupid they were for outsourcing everything and have been turning it around. Although I'm sure it takes time to re-earn good rep once you make a major mistake like that.
Right now I'm thinking Dell since I'm familiar with them and know people that have personally dealt with them recently. Although those Cyberpower ones are interesting.
Hmm, very interesting. Between Last night and today DELL changed the options available for the laptop model I was looking at, the 1505, and now there's more options and some better deals!
I prefer their web chat these days. You can do something while you wait for a tech to get on and their slow typing. You also have what they said in written form so any crap they give is easily documented.

The site has been used by my former employer without any problems (that I am aware of) and the products are of pretty good quality. I've never used them myself but if I needed a cheap laptop that could somewhat perform, I would consider them.
Please call them and check them out first though.
check out their reviews here: http://www.resellerratings.com/store/CyberPower
It also looks like they keep up with the reviews on the resellerratings website and respond professionally. :-?
I read a bunch of those reviews, and it's a little disconcerting that there are that many out-of-box problems that people have had to deal with. I know that 75% of people that post on sites like that are the ones that only want to gripe about a company, leaving more negative than positive reviews, but it's a caution flag nonetheless. I would think that laptops would be a bit less of a hassle though as it's hard to not install parts properly and have it test ok before shipping.
A number of the folks mention unhelpful and rude support people. Of course they might have been complete jerk-offs to the support guys, but thats not great. Even though a lot of Dell support guys speak english as a second language, they are all extremely courteous and helpful whenever I've had a problem/question.
Dell's reviews are not any better. Worse actually. http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Dell

A good dell would have to be an xps type of system. The "good" dells come with as little on the mobo as possible. Painful to deal with often times.
-
The reason for doing the uninstall in safe mode is because the drivers will still be in memory and some files may still be in use and may not get uninstalled. Safemode uses the default svga/vga drivers so none of the nvidia/ati drivers will be in use.

It is preferable to post up an asking price.

You can typically run drivercleaner and it is almost the same thing since all entries for the previous video card's drivers is removed completely. The problem is that Vista is different enough that it may not work or it may break the OS.
There is a new .net version apparently that is coded to work for Vista. He charges $9.99 for it. May be worth picking up.

wicked ddr2 ram deal
in Buy, Sell, Trade, Free, Deals
I honestly do not know what to get for RAM right now for a DDR2 system. The Crucial ram has always done me right but I am not seeing anything from G Skill in regards to DDR 1066 RAM which is what I am after for some future upgradability. That OCZ looks good but is only DDR2 800.
