since the weekend is coming up we should try and get as many people as we can into the server for as long as possible. I might even recommend advertising it on custom night in retro if we're still going that long. seeing as this is the 2nd or 3rd weekend that we've existed we need to try and make a good showing.

shazz apparently doesn't have admin and thus he needs it.

@JackieChan. Done, the way to get it to pop up as a steam notification is to make an event.

just set up a steam group at http://steamcommunity.com/groups/gctf2. All of us who play the game should join it so we can just post announcements/events to get people into the server. it's easier than trying to get everyone one at a time via steam chat. Don't forget... it's going to take effort on our part (pretty much means playing small team games to get the server going one person is pointless in a server. JOIN UP!!

Things have to happen before there can be a record of them.

Guys, what do you think of giving GC members this?
http://forums.allied...ad.php?t=105452
Thing is though...
This is not a good plugin for admins who dislike certain players having advantages over others.Yes? No? Maybe so?
quick thought... if we could implement that stuff and set the server to give it to everyone on certain nights it could be a way to advertize not only the server but .gc as well. On "Premium Content Nights" everyone would get what paying folks get all the time. Getting a lot of people to jump in to get a different game play experience and then keeping them around may be a good idea. However we'd still need to curb some of what is offered by that mod. We'd also need to be sure that it would remain an official server and not get on the valve no-no list.
there's my 2 cents.

EDIT: another thing.... take 2fort off the rotation! no-one likes it and that's where the server seems to idle.

I'm a professional thread BUMPer!

If we limited it majorly it may not be too bad of an idea. But there'd need to be some major balances.

An idea that I got from playing on Trashed Gamers servers is to have the map change after 2 team swaps. That way people don't spend too much time on one map at a time. They also have a flat map time limit but usually it changes to team swaps first. I'll be in there as much as can be managed but I have classes and such so... yeah...

I TF2 Nearly every day but usually on Trashed Gamers servers. Be more than happy to bring a server to life with any other person (it really just takes 2 and about half an hour). I was on our server today but didn't have admin though which may need to be addressed...

what I'm trying to ask is not what I should use. I finally decided that I don't care enough. what I'm trying to establish is whether I may have harmed my system with the program I tried that seems to have run some sort of fan diagnostic.

Intel® Active Monitor was what I tried but I decided to abandon the idea and just try not to freak out.
What program were you using? Coretemp is usually good...

so now I've got some sort of new question... I was trying to find a way to monitor my processor temp so I downloaded a program from intel which, I thought, was compatible with my architecture. upon instaling and firing it up i lost feed to my monitor and all of the fans in my case revved up to full blow and stayed there until I eventually cut the power to my power-strip to make it stop. My roommate thought that someone was vacuming next door it was so loud. Have I possibly caused harm to my computer by doing this?

yeah... it's been a long time since I've had to do cooling goop and I got a little overzealous. ends up that I got some of the crap in under the pins of my CPU and took it back to the shop where I got my caps switched out he did some sort of hocus pocus in the back room with it and didn't charge me a dime so now everything's clean, I cleaned everything off and did it right (and I might add slow) and now have my computer back together and running. we'll see if I messed anything up here in not too much longer when my computer either starts smoking or doesn't. keep your fingers crossed for me!!
-
other quick question... when I put my compie back together I re-did the cooling compound over the processor and heatsink and may have gotten a little of it down in the crevice between processors and board. should I panic now?

So about 4 days ago I was lurking on the Black Mesa forums and noticed that one of the devs had a problem with their computer where the capacitors on her motherboard were bulging\leaking and it ended up bricking her MB. I, being the hypochondriac that I am thought to myself "I wonder what my caps look like I've never had occasion to check" so I opened up my box and took a look inside and lo and behold I had 3 bulging caps 2 of which had developed a slight leak. I found a joint here in springberg that said that they'd swap all my caps out for me and it'd only cost around $35 - $40 now me being the hardware ignorant that I am wonder if this was a good deal or not. I hadn't yet encountered any problems from these bad caps but a cursory google search indicated that bad things were on the way unless I got this fixed.
so...?
