Pretty bad when the russians seek diplomace over a Nobel Peace Prize winning Anti-war president who is almost desperate to kill a bunch of Syrians because they killed other Syrians using an unapproved method.

Preacher, I am concerned that you seem to dismiss chemical weapons so lightly at the end of your statement. Perhaps that was not your intent but it did come across that way to me. The horror of chemical weapons goes way beyond unapproval.

The only reason Russia and Syria are doing this is due to the threat of force. The threat of force has always been a diplomatic tool. Diplomacy doesn't always entail seeking friendships, smoothing relations etc. Sometimes it involves intimidation like in this case. It stops being diplomacy once you actually use that force though.

It is naive to believe that Putin is concerned about the average Syrian life. Russia has a primary goal of foiling US interests and the US reputation in the Mid East. Russia also has secondary goals that are economic and tactical, being sale of arms to Assad and the Russian leased naval base in Syria. Russia is no global humanitarian and would use its force if it was able to do so without confrontation from the Western nations. Merely look towards the conflict several years ago with Georgia as an example.

I suppose this is tangently related to the Syria topic since it came up several posts ago. The Russian navy will not and cannot confront the US Navy. The power of a single carrier battlegroup is leaps and bounds above the Russian forces in the Mediterranean Sea. The purpose of the Russian navy is to evacuate Russians from the naval base if things get out of hand and to give Assad a few minutes warning if we do launch strikes from the sea as they may be able to detect cruise missile launches etc. I wouldn't be worried about Russian subs either as US and its allies have subs in position too and anti-submarine technology has out advanced submarine techonology over the past several decades. Since WWI, submarines have not been nearly as effective anti-warship weapons as they have been economic weapons and sea-to-land missile platforms. Aircraft (thus carriers) are still the most effective weapon on the seas today. Today, we are the only superpower (at least in military terms) due to our ability to project force wherever, whenever we need it across the globe due to the fact we have a blue water navy that no other country in the world can come close to matching.

While I hope a diplomatic resolution is found, we musn't forget that Putin is not our friend and enjoys bringing back vestiges of the Cold War. Assad is still a tyrant that will say anything but will be highly unlikely to backup his promises.

Don't know what the limit is on item drops but I have got 4 and only played a handful of matches. So far I have :

3 CS weapons cases that I have not opened (debating on selling for cash and buying keys or trading them etc.)

1 jungle green five seven pistol skin

1 grasslands auto shotgun skin

1 irradiated mag-7 skin

p2000 is awful. I have been watching several of the ESEA competitive matches and most all of them buy p250s over the p2000 and some even buy it over the glock. After watching those matches it tells you how broken the starting pistols are because every match I have watched the terrorists basically win 3-0 every time until CTs can buy guns.

For anyone who has a cat or lived with one, you will find this entertaining (although you probably have already seen it).

I have talked to mohawk and he didn't realize it was a sports game only coupon. I would prefer to give it to a gc regular before someone I don't know. I will keep it up open for the next few days to see if a regular wants its. If no regular wants it, I will give it to either ironiciconicme or another non-gc person who contacted me earlier through email about it.

I was playing War Z now named infestation and I got bombarded with invites all night long. Its madness I tell you!

What are you doing playing that game! On a side note doesn't that game have lots of problems? Looked at buying it recently since it is a zombie game and couldn't find any good reviews from critics or players.

What I would like to see is 5v5 within GC community matches. I think the 5v5 does lend to some fun gameplay but the most annoying thing about it is getting stuck playing people from Brazil with a 225 ping. Plus the matchmaking seems sometimes very skewed with its ranking system. Obivously GC has a pretty diverse base of players based on skill level but everyone knows everyone elses skill fairly accurately. Obivously there would have to be some fairness in balancing teams (an all xt team wouldn't find too much competition for example) but I still enjoy playing with people in the community rather than random people (50% who are jerks). Although I don't find it as important, I know there are many people who like stats, and the competitive match making provides that to them. I myself wouldn't mind playing in the server, but I still see myself playing 5v5 too.

It is a major issue though because think of how many of us first exposure to gc came through the pub. I know mine did and I imagine many others were as well. It is a source of lifeblood for the community to get new players. 5v5 doesn't provide that. L4D2 server is successfully growing the community currently (at least until L4D3 comes out...who knows what changes that will have in store for that game).

Yeah Fish I have Dunwich, Kingsport, and the King in Yellow expansions. The first two are big box expansions and the last one is a small box.

I'm up for Arkham Horror. I always wanted to play that as well.

I can bring that no problem, it is up to 8 players.

5v5 is fun, but I think there will always be a place for some retro style CSGO. I voted no, since I don't think awps are that big of a problem either, but I don't really mind it either way.

I just started playing some 5v5 and agree it is fun, however the only time people are on the gc server is for Saturday night customs and I don't think 5v5 is going to go away anytime soon.

I voted yes but was on the fence as I agree with many others that AWPs don't seem as big of an issue in GO as they were in Source. However I have not played GO nearly as much as I did Source so I wouldn't be surprised if it is abused on pubs.

I am curious, do we know how many people attended the last Fragfest in 2011?

I felt the total opposite for Diablo 3, I wish there was MORE character specific loot. Any character can use any weapons because the damage of skills is all based on the damage of the weapon. A wizard using a big two handed axe is dumb in mind, but because it has more DPS than his little wand he has to use it. It almost makes the character specific items useless when everything is based on the damage your weapon can do.

 

I like games that gear specific loot to specific characters. Titan Quest and Torchlight both do it, they require you to have a certain amount of a stat to equip certain armor. So to equip the wizard armor you need a certain amount of INT, which makes sense to me (kind of, in real life needing to be smart to wear certain clothes would be dumb). Or a warrior needs strength to equip heavy armor. Every normal RPG works like that, I don't know why Blizzard thought Diablo 3 shouldn't. It's by far my biggest complaint of the game. I can ignore the auction house but I can't ignore a basic gameplay mechanic.

I do remember my friends having that same critique of the game now that you mention it Voodoo. My friends and I are all classic rpg fans and that does seem to make no sense to me, at least less sense than the conventional method that you pointed out. Someday I may pick up D3 on the cheap once I have played through the backlog of my other games but since it isn't available on Steam I will be less likely to remember it down the road.

Yeah I could see wehere that be a major problie if the useable requirements were basically random and/or didn't make sense for the majority of character builds.

I would love to play some Cards Against Humanity, but it's only for horrible people... such as myself.

Got that one too, I can bring and it will be a blast for Fragfest.

Even though I was a huge D2 fan, I never bought Diablo 3. Most of my friends did and said it was ok but nothing special and stopped playing it after a month or two. I still play titanquest IT since it is basically a D2 clone but better. So how does Blizzard screw up franchises like SC or Diablo when they should have blockbusters? What are your guys verdict on D3? I see Nightling must not have been a big fan of it.

Yeah I had the same complaint and I was told apparently everyone is playing 5v5 matches instead etc. The only time people are on the server anymore seems to be for custom night.
