  1. I heard a song by a a comedian/singer/songwriter called Piglet and Pooh. Not sure if the song is based on that picture or vice versa but the song is fricken' funny. I googled but couldn't find it posted anywhere. The artist's name is Brian Haner and I heard in on the May 11th and 12th shows of The Bob And Tom Show on the radio. I'm a VIP member of their site so I can download show archives so I clipped it to a .mp3 of just the song but because of copyright issues and such I'm not gonna post it. Sorry.

  2. I've read this book (actually read it in the original French for French class in high school). He's and existentialist writer. Existentialism, in essence, is the belief that life is meaningless and our actions, and the consequences therein, are meaningless as well. The book wasn't that bad but would probably be considered inflammatory by today's ignorant masses. It was this book that inspired Robert Smith of The Cure to write the song "Killing an Arab", which also was misconstrued as an inflammatory act of hate.

Another existentialist write is Jean-Paul Sartre. He wrote the book Huis-clos (No Exit), which gave os the famous line "L'enfer, c'est les autres", "Hell, it is the other people". I really enjoyed reading this one (again in French class) because it's a thinker. You have three different people but yet you can seem to relate with each one in a different way.

I think they are both good books to read.

  3. The "My_Brutes" folder in my Firefox Bookmarks has 17 different brutes. I did a couple of those "you pupil me, I'll pupil you" threads before I realized you can only be a pupil once from an individual IP. With this many though, it's fun because you get to experience more of the weapons/talents. I have one brute with a bear but so far, none with the "panther" as it's called (looks like a gray razorback to me).

  4. Would you be willing to trade for a rubberband ball, 300ft chain made from paper clips, a 3 legged cat, a left handed pipe wrench, the radiator from a 1976 pinto and a Bolivian quadriplegic child (chair not included) ?

Preacher's already got the Bolivian quadriplegic kid handy too.

  5. So I finished my degree in math with a minor in computer science at Lakehead University last year. That's in Thunder Bay, just to the left of the peak of Lake Superior for those of you too lazy for google maps :)

Anyway, this year I've been doing teacher's college (also at LU) and tomorrow is my last day of placement!!! I've been teaching grades 10 and 11 computer science (VB and Turing) as well as a grade 9 applied math. I'm gonna miss it, but I'm just super excited to be done school and start to pay off student loans as fast as possible. :luxhello:

Thought I'd share. I have a couple of leads on jobs that look promising in Rainy River (also in ON) or Emo (also in ON). I was offered a job on Baffin Island, but that's a tad bit isolated even for me. :D I know most of you are all old :halo: and have been out of school for a long time but I'm super excited to be done and start to see my free time disappear :D

    Congrats man!!!

And why am I not surprised to find out that there's a place in Canadia called "Emo"?

  6. I've still got to make pupils for all the newer people to this thread. I'll get to it when I have a spare moment (read as: hour or two). One of the pupils I made for someone here just recently got a bear. Very nice. I also have one pupil I made for myself that I forgot to "register" so she's no longer password protected (her name is PwnYu) and she's getting pretty tough.

Here's my url btw for anyone else who want's to add a pupil to me. I'm just under midway through Level 6.

  7. I never fully understood the need for steam. Launching the stand alone game and finding servers through it always worked for me... But forcing you to run your games through their software, which then has to be connected to the internet is a bit ridiculous. If their servers are down, you can't play a game that you bought to be able to play whenever you wanted.

I understand they wanted Steam to be able to have the game store and for ease of updating, and the ability to download your games to whatever computer you are using is nice. But I like the old fashioned stand alone games better.

It it one easy step to set your Steam account to be available when "offline". Just because you never found it (or thought to google it) doesn't mean it's Steam's fault.

I love the idea of Steam. Now I don't have to worry about having the original media if I want to re-install, not to mention digging up my original box/cd case so I could find the product key. It's all saved on Steam's side of things. Also, when I bought the Orange Box, I had already owned a couple of the games it came with. Instead of having to take the hit, Steam let's me "gift" them to others (I sold it to a friend cheap and just transferred it via a "gift" to them through Steam).

  8. I'll pop in both nights if you guys are gonna be there. However, tuesday I have to watch the biggest loser from 7 to 9 CST firs,t then I can play :D
