I went a couple years ago as a l4d2 player. left as a csgo player. you can play whatever you want, there will also be lots of board games

Trying to figure out the best way to get to fragfest this year. Considering having cat fly to chicago then driving from here or possibly flying to ny or direrctly there.

Is anyone else coming from or driving by chicago? I don't have a license so I can't drive, would be cool to find people to carpool with!

Hey l4d-ers, I need some input

I see that our l4d2 servers crash a couple of times a day and it's something I was hoping to resolve with a server upgrade. I had some great debugging software on our servers that told me what caused each crash so I could narrow  it down to a plugin if needed. Unfortunately all of the recent crash dumps do not lead to any plugin and are not very helpful. The dumps all show the server crashing at the same internal c++ function,  but don't show what causes that function to be called and in what context. I was assuming it would resolve itself with upgraded mod software.

While I was testing last night the server crashed on me and the dump showed it happening in the same function call...

but...

It happened when I closed the saferoom door.

Now, there is no such thing as a random crash. Computers do exactly what you tell them to do even if it is totally illogical and wrong. It takes in your instructions and does exactly what you tell it to do. Even a random number is not totally random.

So what I want to know is, if you have been on during crashes, what has taken place right before your crash? Was it the saferoom door closing? Was it a checkpoint? Was it a SI being killed?

I need your help on this one

Yes, its not 100% functioning yet though. I have the admins testing it for me.

I should have an update on this tonight. I basically rebuilt the server on new versions of everything and I will need people to test it and make sure everything works. Will keep you posted

your ip didn't have a region associated to it. I added a special rule for you so it should work now

yup that was me. both of you were warned multiple times about not using foul language, there are multiple messages in chat telling you the server rules. He was banned when he said something along the lines of "this is a christian server no gays allowed!"

and yes i slapped that guy while he was afk, signaling to the other team he was. I would have stopped if he had stopped moving

It could be noisy neighbors or a bad plugin. I would need the exact date/time to know for sure, even then I need to enable the console debug to really see. Does it only happen for a few seconds? would there be enough time to IM me as it happens?

That 463gb partition is where your files are... the partition header got deleted so you would need to recreate it to access files.

Probably what happened is windows decided to use it as a boot disk and overwrote the MBR. Someone on a forum mentioned trying this : https://www.runtime.org/data-recovery-software.htm

We don't have access to reboot the whole machine and it looks like the individual apps are restarted daily. Can you start logging the exact times this happens? Does it only happen when the server is full? Is it always the same time of day?

How did you get the numbers?  Just manually search each player and type them all in the spreadsheet?  Is there any way we could get a full database dump to do a little more thorough analysis on the stats?

 

It would be nice if I could get a full dump of all the data.  A lot of it is left out.

You are probably getting kicked for member reservation. We offer a $15/yr membership to reserve a spot in the server so you won't get kicked if the server is full and a member tries to join. This also allows you to kick a non-member if there are 20 people playing. Glad you enjoy the server!
