Same thing happens to me almost every time I play...but it only happens once, then it doesn't happen again the rest of the night. And now that you mention it, I do only remember the game crashing while as a ghosted infected.
-
This is why I love this game so much. You can do so many things with it.
-
Plz don't turn this into a Rust thread, as you've already created one Turnbull. This is strictly about DayZ.

Not sure if this should be in MMO section, or FPS section as it's a combo of both.
Anyways, now that the standalone is available, how many people from GC are interested in playing? I used to play with a group of friends until the game was massively infected with hackers. Most servers are private ones, and usually there's only 1 admin on at a time...or 0 for the most part. So you know where I'm going with this....
Based on the amount of people on GC that play the game, would it be feasible to start a DayZ server? Since we have so many admins, including 1 that plays (Dragonfire.gc), I think we could get a successful server going. I know it costs a pretty penny, so I wanted to just get some thoughts on if it's possible or not.
And if not, then I'd still like to see how many of you would play the game, or have played the Mod in the past. It's incredibly addicting, and makes for some fun times if you get a small group of people going. Right now the game is in Alpha, and the devs don't expect a Beta until a year from now. Not sure if the game will ever reach a full release mode, but so far the game has drawn in quite a few players!

Except a screenshot is a picture of what's on your screen....I guess we all use that word by habit a bit too much now.

MY app is still in there right?

I won a Madden 25 tournament in September and won a free copy of the new game for my Xbox. Needless to say I was happy, I've never really won any sort of gaming tournament before.

I played the Warcraft RTS games for a while and was totally enveloped in the storyline. My most favorite character was Illidan Stormrage. I also used to make custom maps my friends and I would LAN on, and I used to use Phoenix's as "gate keepers" so that no one could rush you until you were built up a lot. Made for a fun and lasting game. Plus it's my favorite mythological beast....and I was born and raised in Phoenix, AZ.
When WoW was released, I made a Night Elf shadow priest named Phoenixstorm on an RPG server because I wanted to be "related" to Illidan, plus I thought a "Storm of Phoenix birds covering the sky" was a good premise for the name (although I never RPd and I just raided). When I created an Xbox Live account that name was taken, so I chose Fenixstorm.
During raids, everyone just called each other by a shortened version of their name, so I was just called Phoenix for a while. When I created my steam account, I just shortened it to Fenix because I'm used to hearing that on team chat.

I swear Jamaal Charles had some sort of NFL record Sunday didn't he?

I thought just playing on those rails was considered bannable as even if you don't die by falling off, when someone picks you up they get free points...

Other issues I've personally seen are that people don't want to swap because they don't want to be separated from other players they are friends with. There are a lot of Cliques within the L4D2 GC community, so you tend to see some of the same players play together a lot.

I can't believe A. Jeffery caught that pass....now I'm projected to lose. I need Dez Bryant to start catching more and getting some more TDs to stay in the playoffs.

It's a little harder to do as infected as they are spread all over the map jumping around from building to building....IF they are in ghost form or spawned in.

Score is not real important, with people leaving and joining all the time, the team with the low score can be the one that is "stacked" at some point.
I would like it if when a member joins, instead of kicking the non member with the least amount of time on the server, it kicked a non member on the team with the least amount of members on it. Obviously non-members may be better than members, but in general it would help.
That's a really good point and idea PB&J....since !jointeam is now a random placement if teams are even, why not make it so that it puts that person on a team with less members? And if teams are even make it random. I know the !infected and !survivors was removed because it no longer works...and I think you did that to try and eliminate stacking.

At times I've been guilty of this I'll admit. I'm very competitive and will sometimes try and "lead" by saying what we should plan for, but sometimes that doesn't work out too well and I get frustrated and leave. But I don't call anyone names or disrespect people, I just say "see you guys later" and log off instead. So I apologize if anyone has heard my rants.
On a side note I know we have this new ability to report people, but when it comes to people talking on the mic, I only see 3 people the whole game in the UI, and there's 6 other players who can use a mic and I have no idea who it is. Is there a way we can fix this to show who's talking on the mic?

I'm guessing this in a specific account of something that happened tonight, but in most instances I claim a team needs to be scrambled is when the other team has either a huge point lead, and/or they have much more members on their side vs. the other team which has much less members (therefore their knowledge of the !buy system lacks).
Rarely am I on a team that is winning by a ton of points and we don't scramble unless no admins are online. IN that instance I usually PM an admin on Steam for the request.
So when you say "you", who are you referring to?

Ya as you see the minecraft server is nearly empty all the time now. And the only people who ever connected a majority of the time were people already associated with GC or through word-of-mouth. The reason L4D2 and L4D are so popular is that it was made popular by sites like Gametracker and the Steam server list that pops up when L4D starts.
I don't foresee any other steam game getting implemented with a private GC server unless the game requires servers to even play on...and thus promoting the more popular ones.
IF there was one game that I remember I started playing on private (modded) servers that weren't all hosted by the company itself, it was Unreal Tournament 2004. Torlan is my home away from home.

Fenix to the rescue!

Why does everyone have to accuse Hunger Games of stealing the Battle Royal storyline? The basic premise of the book has existed in all sorts of movies and books...Battle Royal was not the first and Hunger Games is not a remake.

The spoiler is that it was awesome! Can't wait for the next!

I swear I don't charge much! Plus we have a Fantasy Football team!
We're losing though.
The infected spawn timer crash
in Left 4 Dead 2
Ya it's as if the game is closed out completely mid-game. It's really odd. I can pinpoint when this started happening to me. It was around the time L4D2 had a major patch that came out (maybe a year ago?) and I think it's when they opened the mod store. The patch was when all the L4D2 files were reorganized or something, and a lot of people were having issues just starting the game after it was released and crasx spent a lot of time having to recode the server to get it up and running again.
Ever since then, after utilizing a fix from steam, when I start the game, I get an error that happens during the load screen of the game (I have to hit escape to close the load screen since it happens within a steam window). But randomly (sometimes never), I will be playing the game and all of a sudden I'm looking at my desktop (game is completely closed and not running, but Steam is still up).
I hope that gives some clues as to what is going on.
