I was asked to be a board member because the GC members and the non-members and admins were causing so much drama all the time. No one could deal with it. When I was asked to do this, I was told it was not a reward. I was being asked to do something that was not easy. Well it wasnt easy, actually most of the time it was horrible. Initially I had to deal with problems every single night, when I would get home from work. It was ridiculous. I own and run a business and after working 10 hours minimum a day, I spent 4+ hours a night dealing with L4D2 problems. All on a volunteer basis. However, after a very long time, and taking a lot of abuse and being in the middle of many arguments (and most importantly, ridding ourselves of some people who always seemed to be involved in issues), things changed around and I was rarely involved in any issue. I have always tried to be unbiased and help everyone, regardless of past issues. I did not try to take sides based on whether the person is an admin, member or non member or someone I liked or disliked. I tried to make sure our rules and protocols covered as many situations as possible and that they were uniformly administered. I realize the game is old and may not attract as many new people now and I realize people want to add spice to the game. However there are ways to do this, without purposely skirting the rules to tinkle off admins or annoy other players. I put way too much time in this and I am not going to let a tiny number of people get back to the old ways of drama and issues. If you ever pm'd me about an issue, whether it was a problem with an admin or another player or to check on your membership or buying other people memberships or setting up new admins... you know that I always responded and always did the work with no complaints. I will not put up a couple of people purposely trying to be jerks, but saying they are within the rules. I am not going to spend my time arguing technicalities of the rules. Just stop being jerks. Play the game the right way. Have fun. If you are bored leave, but dont pull this crap about "i am not techinically breaking a rule" If you are actually serious about adding something to a game that you are bored with, then get up off your butt and organize something. I did things before even becoming an admin and before becoming a board member. I organized fun things for all to do (or I tried). Anyone can help set up custom nights, vip times, pathing times. Come up with your own ideas (everyone playing specific classes or using certain weapons, or whatever). Dont be the problem, be the solution. Send me a message if you have an idea or want to run something new (or old). Dont purposely be a jerk in the server. I have no patience for it anymore.

After looking this over, the original kick was not warranted by the admin. Your response in the server was not the correct way to handle the situation, so I will not "delete" the ban. I do not want to hear about vague accusations from years ago. If you feel an admin has made a mistake in the way a situation is handled, simply send me a message about it. It will be reviewed. You guys should know by now that I will not just blindly take an admin's side in a situation (though I may give them the benefit of the doubt). If you have a problem with something I do, send it to me (or Jackie if you dont want to send to me) and I will include other board members in on it. Admins make mistakes and I make mistakes too or overreact when playing sometimes.

I have reduced this ban to 1 day. It is for the attitude and what you said when you returned. I read the logs of the server and am looking in to the rest of it.

Tamatoa, I am no longer going to discuss it, since you can not understand. I read everything you said. If you think it is fine, when you are on the losing team and refuse to take any weapon and just use a handgun (not even a desert eagle), then what is the point in continuing this conversation? You are making big issue out of a simple one. Meng asked you nicely to stop doing that stuff, you refused and then he finally kicked you. So what? Again, okay, you are bored, you don't like being on the losing team, you want to try something different.. I get it. So then try a new game or server. If you participate in any poor behavior, you will be kicked or banned. Just a reminder, again, I never kicked Soda for using a desert eagle or any other specific weapon. Soda was also not banned for using/not using any specific weapons. If you are a sore loser and choose to do things like rocket in as a hunter and swat at people, etc, you will be kicked or banned for griefing, just like people practicing wall jumping as hunters (and not attacking), just like someone refusing to move forward or someone going back to the original safe room, just like someone that is purposely letting people pounce them, or just practicing dead stopping them. None of this is new. None of this will be allowed in a competitive game. There are a lot of people that actually want to play and this is a very team oriented game. We will not allow games to be ruined by people who are bored or sore losers. There does not need to be a specific rule about each little thing. Just show sportsmanship. Thanks!

Meng kicked Soda for things he was saying, not for weapons. I watched the entire thing. I banned Soda later for something entirely different, which is one of the reasons I made this post. People do complain, they just dont always do it in the server. In your situation, you didnt even bother to take a gun. When a new person comes in and does that, running around with a bat, clueless, everyone wants the person banned. When someone on the winning team goes easier by using lesser weapons, I get that. When people do it because they are on the losing team and are bad sports, that can become an issue. If you are bored of the game, as you mentioned, and you are on the losing team and dont like it, just leave. Your whole post is about you, how you want to use weapons as a challenge, rather than how you can help your team. Regardless of the score, the other players on the team are trying to make it to the end of the map. Play hard and have fun.

If you are bored of the game, play elsewhere, you wont be allowed to ruin the game for 19 other people. Nothing has changed in the rules. Points have never been required to be used in our games. Some people do not speak english, do not understand the point system or are new to it. If you are frustrated, dont play. Swat, come back and play!! PS, this wasnt about using a desert eagle

FYI, I didn't kick or ban someone for using a Deagle. Meng didn't kick or ban someone for using a Deagle. I also didn't mention it in my post above. Also, Red Devil, I have never warned you or discussed with you anything about this or about the use of a desert eagle. The rules here are simple, don't try to make so much out of this because 1 or 2 people like to troll.

Not required to use points on our servers Nothing has changed regarding our rules or the enforcement of them. I will, however, give an example: If you are a regular player and you leave the saferoom and purposely don't take any tier 2 gun, but instead go out and just use 2 pistols for the map, I will ban you. You can do that on our empty server or on another server. The people that have been doing this, know exactly what they have been doing. Simple stuff. Go back to the way you guys played before you suddenly became bored of the game or decided how cool you are in real life, if you can "troll" people in a computer game. If you want to wreck the games for the majority of the people who still play here, or if you are going to say things on the server to make fun of or be sarcastic of our decisions (such as who and why we unban someone, or when we enforce the rules, etc), you will be forced to play somewhere else. As I have to explained to many of you... if you disagree with a ban, kick or the way an admin handles a situation or if you want to question GC's decisions on bans or rules, the server is not the place to debate them. Feel free to send me a message through the website, with any questions you have or any complaint. I will either add people to the conversation or post it in the board forum for discussion or post in admin forum for discussion, depending on the content of the message. I always want to enforce GC's standards, rules and purpose, while also protecting the vast majority of the players that come to our L4D2 servers to play a fun, competitive game.

For some reason, after all these years, I feel the need to remind players of the GC rules of conduct: A few of these issues seem to have been brought up lately, especially the sportsmanship part, where winners and losers are not "being gracious" and where certain people are not "making an effort to help your team win" Have fun, but remember there are 19 other people playing. If you are bored of the game, annoyed you are losing, etc... instead of wrecking the game for the other 19 people, just leave the server. Thanks!

Yes, we give 2nd chances for breaking rules, depending on the circumstances and how the person handles the situation. That is the whole point of this area of the forum. This goes for him, just like it has gone for you. In his situation: He had admitted he was cheating at the time. He apologized and said he wont do it again. He served a 2 and 1/2 year ban from GC. If he cheats on our servers again, he will not get another chance.

Hi Ship, we decided to unban you, per your request. You were originally banned for cheating. Since you have admitted cheating, apologized for it and served a very long ban time, we feel you deserve another chance. I do want to warn you however, if you are found cheating or using any type of illegal advantage in the game again, you will not receive another chance. Remember you are responsible for your account also, so it will not be acceptable to claim another person did it. Welcome back!

I spied on server today... Sacrifice Finale with 1 admin present, round started 8v5 (admin was on team with 8). Went to 8v6, then back to 8v5. Never got better than 8v6 entire round. A few people on the team of 6 complained. I sent a few messages in to server asking for people to swap. Some people typed !teams, but no one swapped, no one offered, no one encouraged anyone to swap... Went all the way to the end of the map so I finally slayed survivor team and let the campaign end. These are my frustrations with the regulars in this game. Even if you would prefer to stay on your team for some reason, you can try to encourage someone else to at least even it up.

Just a break, some things in the server just bugging me recently. Not really much different than in the past, just getting to me more lately.
