  1. Anyway, feel free to post your final four and any upsets you think might happen.

Right now I have UNC, Syracuse, Illinois, and Wake Forest w/ the Illini winning it all.

No huge upsets in the first round, but a few 10's beating 7's, and I have Washington losing to Pitt the second round

  2. I absolutely love my N64, but without that I choose Super Nintendo! That's when I got into gaming, and some of the games I played back then (some I still do!) were:

    Donkey Kong Country 1,2,3

    Super Mario World

    Super Mario Kart

    Zelda Link to the Past

Super Metroid - although I had to get this one on emulator I played it through at least 10 times

    Techmo Super Baseball

    Mario RPG

    just to name a few...

  3. This is actually done by good ol' TFR|BleedingSnow! We've been playing this nonstop since we're done with CS. A new run will come out in another month or so which will be under 2:30 at the least!

  4. Oh yeah, forgot to mention. Northern IL would probably cost about 15K where as Indiana would cost about 28K without any scholarships, but I'd plan to get at least 5-6K a year if I were to go there.

  5. Well I'm a senior in high school right now and I've applied to and been accepted at Iowa State U, IL state, Northern IL, and Indiana U.

I live in the Chicagoland area, and I want to major in accounting and maybe go into finance or something (definitely become a CPA).

I think I have it narrowed down to Indiana U and Northern IL but I'm really not sure where to go. I don't think I'd be too comfortable in a giant school like Indiana, but I hear they have an excellent business program. On the other hand, it's about 4 hours away and I may get homesick easily (never really been away on my own for very long).

I hear Northern IL has a good business school too and is only an hour away.

Any suggestions or advice anyone can give me on what school to choose out of the previous ones mentioned based on what I've said so far? I'd really appreciate it, as this is a big decision

  6. Actually I have it figured out. I'm probably gonna become an Accountant.. CPA. So I'm probably gonna go to either Northern, Southern, or ISU. I dont need anymore suggestions; my future it all set! :)

  7. Well I need to start applying for colleges soon and was thinking about some schools in-state in Illinios. I think I want to major in Computer Engineering, but I'd like someone who's someone knowledgeable in that field to tell me what that course entails... is it like Computer Science with a programming aspect. I wasn't too interested in learning Java or C++ in high school, so is Comp Engineering still for me? I want to work with computers, and learn about hardware/software development and that sort.

If this all doesn't work out I'll probably end up choosing to major in Business or do Accounting or some such. Thanks.

  8. Hmmm, alrirght. But if I go with a 9800 pro (since I only have a 1.6 P4) will I be able to use the card to its full extent? Or will I have poor frames or lag since the computer is only 1.6 ghz? Keep in mind that I do have 768 ram. I'm not sure what's important between ram and processor speed. :(

  9. I've been thinking about getting a new graphics card since mine is pretty outdated. Right now I have a GeForce 2 64mb card, and I'd like something a little more powerful, but I really don't know much about any video cards.

Would anyone suggest me a pretty good card near the $200 range that'll last me awhile and able me to up my video settings on some demanding next-generation games?

I have a P4 1.6 ghz comp with 768 mb of ram, so I dont want a card that will overpower me/slow me down, if that's possible :D

Yes I'm looking at my unofficial transcript as I type this. It's a sat. morning and i'm bored. Junior year hasn't been sent out yet.. so:

Right now i'm in 2nd semester of junior year

  11. I have the Logitech Premium Stereo Headset, and it's been fine for a few months, up until the past two weeks. The microphone doesn't record any sound anymore.

No sound in CS, Microsoft's sound recorder, and even when I test the hardware. Maybe once in ten restarts I somehow have the microphone working (the headphones part is fine).

I just reformatted my computer today to get rid of a different problem, so the mic problem didn't start right after this. I know it's plugged in right because it's been like this for months. I know it's not muted, and I've updated my sound card drivers (which I did after this problem occurred in an attempt to fix it). I doubt that it's just "getting old" since I got this headset mid-September.

I've read countless FAQ's and none seem to help, just the same old stuff over and over. Any ideas/answers? I'm sick of always having to go to Best Buy b/c of a mouse/headphones problem; you wouldn't believe how many warranties I have :yuck:

Update: The microphone works when it's all the way at the top of the headset instead of pulled down in the talk position. That means I can use it without the headphones, which is really annoying. I think something is wrong with the wire; static or something. I'll have to buy a new one. <_<

  12. So I was pubbing on Tropolis earlier, everything was fine, and then I took a break. About an hour later when I started again, I connected to a random server and experienced extreme graphical lag. My FPS was about 30-50 (normally 60-90) and I wouldn't get higher than 25 when recording.

It's not just CS that lags after that. When I go to my desktop even when CS is closed, my mouse is choppy, windows are slow and laggy, and my CPU USAGE % is at about 60% when it should be about 2-5%.

I have a GeForce2 64 mb, WindowsXP, 256 ram, and have never experienced a problem like this up until a few hours ago. I've searched for viruses, spyware, recent downloads that could have caused this, but have found nothing.

The only suggestion I've heard is to reformat so I'm going through any other options or video settings that may help. Any suggestions? I can't play like this :(
