  1. Oh. So someone else has ventured into the bleeding land of the UT3 editor....

I'm working on trying to create some maps, but have been stuck for a bit with the terrain. Building inside a building

was pretty easy, but building a nice-free-ro-all with rolling terrain, etc... seems a bit more complicated. And since

it is the UT3 editor, it is not always straightforward.....

  2. Now we just need people to jump in and play. I've been in there for about an hour so far and not one soul has joined.

I'm installing and patching now. Will hopefully be up this evening. So much for getting the xmas list together :)

I snagged one of the hard drive specials from newegg, so sometime this week I'll probably be OTA so that I can

reinstall XP. UT3 will prolly be the next thing (after all the M$ patches, of course!).

And yes, I'll still be Dingy

  3. Thanks for the info. I saw UT3 in the Best Buy near my sister's house, so if they have it

it will be on the shelves at home :)

Interesting. At least it looks like they decided to fix some of the stuff that were issues.

Now the real question is how many more "fixes" there will be. At least they gt it in the stores for Tday....

    Go figure.

    Lookin forward to getting pwned.....

  4. Geez! You guys are making me jealous. I'm in Maryland at my sister's, and won't be home until late Saturday.

I guess it will be late next week before I can even think of buying/installing. I guess we'll see what happens...

And good point too - I have been thinking of a fresh install of XP. If I do, it will be a while longer. Of course,

it could always be the first app instaled :)

*shudder* how does it play with Vista? I'm just wondering, so don't get on me about it :)

Happy Tday and Black Friday to everyone! And since it *is* the season, I'll say Yo! Yo! Yo! Merry Chrisdtmas

(because you see, it is non-PC to say it the "other" way :) )

  5. Well, I picked one up. Nice to have an HD DVD player with free movies.

The funny thing was the line for the $398 laptop - it was all over the place (and there were only 5 of us in the DVD player

    line).

FWIW, the Wallmart ringmaster was saying that they will be having these "Black Friday" events every Friday until Christmas.

So if you want any other toys, just watch the web!

  6. 2 years from now I think all 8800 cards will run Doom 4 about the same, like garbage. :biglaugha:

Heh. The joys of changing technology...

I'll probably get a GT. The price point is a big factor - plus the fact that I have been running a 7800 for a couple of years now....

  7. Yep, I read the article. It had some good info. Looks like I'll need to upgrade in the not-too-distant future, although

the demo with my 7800GT is behaving well (so far anyway).

I will assume it's just the heat, since it happens in every game

How about just placing it outside while you game? Shouldn't that keep it cold enough?

    :biglaugha: :biglaugha: :biglaugha: :biglaugha:

  8. Well I downloaded it from Steam yesterday. Hoping to join all you wonderful folks sometime this week (wacky work schedule).

  9. If they were going to create a new game, they should have called it that. And nice tone in your reply DarkArchon.

Ditto that. And yes, Dark was alot of fun last night.

I remember when the UT2K4 demo came out, and there was a difference between the demo and gameplay.....

Granted, there are things that could have been done better, but in terms of what I saw, I liked.

It would have been nice to get a couple of the war maps included though...

As to the CTF portion - prior to UT2K4, all I played was CTF. What we were playing last nioght was pretty good...

The map could have been bigger.... It will be interesting to see how all the toys play in open spaces instead of the

close in stuff we were playiong last night.

  10. OK, My $2 (for inflation. That should make it $1.90 Canadian, right?)

    Anyway -

The goliath is more agile. I like the faster backup. I think the splash damage *is* smaller, but can't really tell. Something we will need to check out I suppose.

Need to check the reload rate of the Goliath too.

I think there is a greater vertical turret traversal with the goliath - I believe that you can traverse higher when going after the annoying raptors. Again, something

that has to be checked and verified.

The Manta is stealthy. If you are standuing still there is zero noise (even from the driver's perspective). I used that to camp the flag in CTF last night and

mowed (Wentz I think) down when he came running through.

Raptor flight kinda sux. It would be nice to be able to do a straight first person and zoom the view as opposed to being able to see the inside of the

cockpit though. Ditto the first person for the other flyable vehicles.

    Vehicles can get killed faster.

The deemer takes time for "setup" (well, when you get it anyway)

Oh yeah - you can kill things by shooting through fences, etc...

The Avril doesa allow you to fire and lock on to an umanned vehicle. Don't know if it does damage though.

Although the hoverboards allow one "tagalong" per vehicle, you can graopple on to a manta and have it fly you around the map. Neat way of moving fast.

Haven't played with the sky mines in the scorpion, but Dark was pwning me with those last night.

I think that is it so far. I'm working on determining what ports are required for full firewall functionality. Will let you know when Dingy's basement is up.

Don't expect tons o' people though - I am limited right now to 512K on my upload speed. If anyone hears about teh Linus version of the server, please let me know.

    That's it for now!
