    4/21 Update:

     

    Onyx yelled while I was in channel. Game Server Admins now have their very own happy title space. I think I got everyone who's registered so far over. 

     

    Oh, and an FYI on the bot/s. They can be self hosted but nearly all of them right now are hosted somewhere by someone (usually the bot author/s). This means that when they do work on them, they can and will go offline. Like BooBot which as of right now is going online and offline and not working at all.

     

    Gonna happen.

    It doesn't exactly match anything around here but you probably can't miss the Discord widget on the side.

     

    Discord = pretty much the future of game comms. Text and voice.

     

    I think we're gonna move all in and I (we) have plans for some wack bot integrations. Pushing out round stats, special event flares, etc. all into the text channels. Honestly, too much to even iterate thru right now.

     

    If you know what Slack is Discord is that - plus voice, in-game overlays, Twitch integration, Battlenet soon, and moar. 

     

    So you folks might want to get on-board now. Eventually we'll close down the mumbles. 

     

    Observant types might have heard me drone on over the past year or so about upgrading this forum community and so on. Our tiny little server logo you'll see when you hook up on our Discord server will give you a glimpse of the re-branding.

     

    If you have problems joining our server just yell at the usual suspects. Most/all of the board members are hooked up. And yes, since this is a totally wide open combined text chat and voice chat system we'll be needing to get rolling on mod permissions, hosts, and so on. We can make any channel for text/voice that is needed. Just a single for text right now though; more later.

     

    Web page app plus native for Win 10/8/7, Mac, and you can keep the fun rolling along on your Android phone too.

     

    There is a single bot active (might be naughty at times) which I just threw on to get the party started. Try not to abuse it (or abuse it against GC conduct standards...)

    Heads Up!

    All gone now. As is the server. Good deal at the time but found something else - two fewer cores but crap ton more ram and more ssd space - also true dedicated, not VPS. Targeted for other purposes at the moment but easily swing Minecraft again.

    Ah well, as usual, rocked the regular season only to have everything go to hell in the first round.

     

    Kesler taking a personal day or two for who the hell knows why.

     

    Crawford mysteriously day to day and then a week later saying concussion.

     

    Seguin deciding a day or two before playoff week to get his Achilles partially cut...

     

    Backstrom and Carlson flipping back and forth between injured and playing.

     

    Naturally I would have won it all if I would have just made it thru the first round. Ah well... plenty fun.

     

    Props to pronounce - got yr team cooking at the end.

     

    As fun as it would be roll this to keeper league we should  A: talk about it first and B: start it after next year's draft. I was dropping crazy stuff at the end just to field some warm functional bodies.

     

    Also we would have to mandate an additional bench or IR slot to handle crap like top picks getting badly hurt. I don;t think one IR slot would cut it with a keeper league.

    Cogent and literate writing. I like.

     

    Cancer and moar have had me distracted from these parts for a while - let me poke the beehive and see if we can't get some things better resolved and or fixed. Prob not tonight as I has a tired. Also I need to read the backstory.

     

    But I'm down for watchin' some Twitch.

     

    Irrelevant Thought: 2007 and I'm streaming speed runs from archive.org on my big screen projector of long donkey FPS Adventure games like Indiana Jones, etc because I just wanted to unwind after a long week and would rather just watch someone play than do it myself. Thought it be nice if we could get people to do this stuff but include the cut scenes so it'd be like a movie. Also thought it would be nice to have a better repository of this stuff.

     

    And then I never thought of it again until someone made Twitch and became millionaires by making YouTube for gamers.

     

    @eg: Not a bad thought. Who would we ask?

    Heads Up!

    in Minecraft

    So this thing has died pretty much. It happens.

     

    The following is now occurring:

     

    Full backup of all the Minecrafty things. Nothing is being wiped content-wise, just tucked away. Backups available to whoever wants them in the short-term.

     

    The server itself is being nuked and upgraded to Centos 7. Full wipe and reconfigure. We're still getting good value on the server itself (4 core, 4 gig ram, 80 gig ssd for $14/month)  so I have no desire to cancel it outright.

     

    I *may* delay the above items in favor of working on some Docker things for a future GC chat thing on this server - that's probably going to happen but will only delay the full wipe.

     

    You may now begin yelling.

    Peeps don't play just one game - it's a free for all. Console, many diff PC, card, board, etc... Probably shouldn't be called FragFest but that's for another year....

     

    I'll get the registration stuff set up asap.
