  1. Taking a 2 1/2 year old trick or treating in Ohio...he's never seen leaves down before, so he's having a blast! Big difference from Halloween in New Orleans.

  2.

ZD...seriously,I know this has been mention once or a dozen times in this thread, but you are the only one labeling him a liberal, he had neither admitted to being so, or done anything but respond logically to posts that you have made, I don't know why you feel the need to label people in order to have discussions. Why not just discuss the topics? Why always the"me vs the rest of you cuz you're all wrong" mentality?

It seriously diminishes any credibility that you may have.

Should I pretend that he is something other than what he is to avoid offending everyone's sensibilities? You honestly think he responded logically? I answered every question and asked my own and he proceeds to attack me and my sources using multiple different logical fallacies without actually answering my questions or addressing my information in a mature way. Yet when I am forced to defend myself, you feel you need to address me for not letting a mob of people attack me none stop. Why don't you put a stop to that? If I am going to participate in these forums, I am not going to let that happen none stop.

Um...I did defend you earlier when you were called an idiot.

  4. Wow....i'm not even going to bother posting all of the results...but they are very significantly higher in both deductible and monthly premium than what we currently have....which I thought was already high.

I sure hope we don't lose our option through work, or we are screwed. This has to get better I would think....there is no way that the nation won't uprise if everyone has similar results.

    Scary...

I do disagree with forcing everyone into a system that needs overhauled first. I feel that we are a few steps ahead of where we should be...assuming of course that there is no other option than a system like Obamacare.

First steps should be trying to fix some of the biggest reasons why the costs are so high to begin with.

From some of the early reports, it seems that the new system is more expensive in many cases,Which seems to be opposite of how it was sold to the American people.

We've been grappling with high costs for a long time. There are no easy answers. "Waiting" for that problem to be solved to try and overhaul healthcare will cause us to wait a long long time. I'm a believer of doing multiple things at once to try and root out the problems. We do things one at a time and this problem will outlast us all.

Again, you can lower costs by bringing in more people. Universal healthcare is a requirement if you want to support the sick and manage cost at the same time. It sucks but its reality. In other words, healthy people must sign up so the sick people get coverage. This is really the reason why republicans don't like obamacare. Republicans want a free market system, even for healthcare. Its the mantra of, take care of yourself and you'll be better off. They don't believe that everyone should be covered. Work hard, stay healthy, eat right and you won't get sick. If you get sick...well, that's too bad. Its the same argument against welfare, social security, or any other government program.

But the truth is, they are against it only up to the point it happens to them. There in lies the hypocrisy.

I can't disagree with any of that logic. I just fear that once this is firmly rooted itself into our lives, fixing high cost problems will no longer be a priority...sort of like high gas prices, we are used to paying 3 something a gallon now...no one complains...even if oil fell to historic lows, do you think the gas companies will lower prices?

There's really no good reason why a fairly routine hospital stay of maybe a day or two should cost $20,000...and that's just a broad example.

I'm afraid that once they have us...we'll be had.

  6.

Moreover, every single person in my immediate family has worked or does work in health care, including myself, and we'd all disagree with you,

Yeah...so does my wife, and many of the people she knows....and they would all disagree with you. Especially when kids and Medicaid are concerned. It's already a mess.

  7. Keep the posts to the facts...leave out all the stuff about people being dumb because they don't agree with you....that's no different than the side that you accuse of basically doing the same.

I don't have the time to go research every statement in your post, but I can say that just because it's in a Wikipedia page, doesn't mean it's all accurate fact...no matter how neat it sounds.

I remember all the controversy at the time, and that wasn't all for nothing.

And for the record,I don't consider myself republican or democrat, nor do I think either side should get to push any agenda through without opposition simply because they have majority, we shouldn't have the equivalent of temporary dictatorships in our system.

Another issue that was, and still is important, is all the excess garbage that they attach to a bill like this...everybody trying to get their money by burying stuff in a huge, hard to understand health care bill. And please don't try to say that didn't/isn't happening.

And finally, for every poll that you can produce in favor of it, there is one showing the people are against it. The fact that it's even still such a widespread issue doesn't support your claim that most people are for it.

  8. It's true allanon, when Obama first started talking about fixing health care during his campaigns, he specifically stated that he would work across party lines, and that it would be open door, even for the press. Reality was that no one other than the democrats were invited or allowed. And yes...it was over 3000 pages or something...put out the evening before it needed to be voted on...which conveniently for them, they needed no republican votes.

It was, at the time, the shadiest thing I'd ever seen in politics.

  9. Seems like we are combining 2 separate issues here for you fx...health care, and your belief that all corporations are evil and no one deserves to make more money than "needed" to survive.

As far as people's jobs deserving to be cut, I can't say that I agree with that. My wife works in the healthcare field and they are in many cases already spread too thin. If you add more people into the mix, more employees will be needed, not less.
