  1. Should be a nice rig. Might want to check out the cases from Corsair, awesome build quality and the cable management makes for a very clean case....can hardly see any cables.

I agree with amertrash on the power supply, I would go maybe a bit smaller unit from a better company. I'm using a Corsair 750w and it's actually more than sufficient.

Get a Z77 chipset mobo, it's almost a necessity. Here is an affordable one that's less than $20 more than the one you have selected. http://www.microcent...tel_Motherboard

The only other thing that seems like you might be selling yourself short on is the video card, it's not going to be enough to play the newer stuff at high rez at higher frame rates. I know this because because I just finally benched mine in favor of a GTX670, and the difference in games like Battlefield 3 is VERY noticeable. I can only imagine that this will be even more noticeable pushing those graphics to a 32" monitor....which by the way, how does a TV work as a monitor? Is it blurry at high speeds at all? I've considered trying that since the price is so much more affordable, but I just figured that there had to be some noticeable difference, otherwise everyone would be doing it.

16MB of RAM really isn't needed, I'm using 8MB, and so is pretty much everyone that I play with and it's more than enough for gaming...you could cut that back to 8MB and apply the leftover bucks to more video card :)

Here's mine, and i'm very happy with the performance:

    i5 3570k

    ASrock Extreme4 Z77 mobo

    OCZ Vertex 3 240gb SSD

    WD 1TB drive for storage

    8GB Patriot Vengeance RAM

    MSI GTX670 TwinFrozr

    Corsair TX750W PSU

    Corsair C70 Case

  2. Now that I have Windows 8 up and running on my laptop, the idea of a Windows 8 phone is pretty intriguing. I recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy SIII and am happy with it, I have been using Android phones for a few years now and I have been pleased overall.

ZD's recommendation of the Nexus 4 is a pretty good one, the phone straight from Google unlocked is supposed to be under $300....be prepared for some bugs though, as there hasn't been a Nexus release yet that has been free of them, most of them minor and patched up in a reasonable amount of time.

Do you have Windows 8 on any of your computers? If you do, it seems like it would be pretty kick arse to have the same experience across both devices, especially with all that new fangled syncing.

  3. I just finally installed my new SSD and Windows 8 on my laptop last night. It's definitely different, not necessarily a bad thing, but there is some learning to do. Even though you can always go to your desktop for a more familiar look, the interaction with apps and stuff is still quite a bit different. I haven't made up my mind yet as to whether or not I am a fan of having a smartphone-like app environment on my PC, but so far it's a bit better than I expected.

  4. I don't at all agree with Obama's policies, and I am not afraid to say that I am voting for Romney (which I am not all that thrilled about either)....but I kind of agree here, it just seems like such angry, hate-filled rage towards Obama, with every post seeming more desperate and less credible....I don't understand the level at which you seem to be taking it, looking for something evil in everything, I thought that I didn't really like Obama, but damn, lol.

As for this election, I am reminded of the wise words once spoken by the brilliant Lewis Black when referring to a previous election...."It's like choosing between two bowls of sh%@, the only difference, is the smell"

  5. I don't understand what the big issue is, it doesn't seem like a cover up to me....maybe they didn't give the public the whole story until they had all the facts? Maybe it was just an omission at first? Who knows, but it seems a pretty big stretch to try to build this into a conspiracy/cover up. I am far from an Obama supporter....quite the opposite, but this is reaching a bit.

  6. Everything that i've read suggests that you needn't bother upgrading if you are running Windows 7...unless of course you just have to have the shiny new Metro UI, which i'm up in the air about. I am getting a copy for my laptop tho since it's still running Vista...so I guess i'll soon find out.

  7. do christians have issue with atheists getting married?

Never cared to ask, just like I don't care what they do so long as it doesn't interfere with my life. We obviously didn't get married in a church though...but interesting thought.....by the logic of religious people, marriage is contract before god, therefore, anyone either non-believing, or breaking the laws of god shouldn't be married, yet the gays are the only ones having this "rule" forced upon them. For something that's supposed involve so much love and understanding, religion sure does leave alot of people out in the cold.

  8. Agreed, I think that should all be part of the civil union, there's no reason that they shouldn't be as screwed as the rest of us, lol. As far as the lesser human part, they can't mandate that into people's thought processes, more evolution needed i'm afraid.

  9. Sure, i'm all for that...dunno if you mis-read something that I wrote, but I am all for everyone being able to have the same rights in this country. My comment about civil union is just my curiosity as to why they don't accept it and must have the term marriage, it would seem in this day when everyone is so sensitive about stuff that maybe they would realize that the term marriage is just as sacred to religious people as their desire to be a legal couple and a compromise would be made so that all sides can find some middle ground. Seems like everyone wants it exactly their way these days, but that just isn't possible when dealing with humans.

  10. I don't at all agree that it's a choice...people are just built different. I could not choose to be attracted to other men, it just couldn't happen....I hate the taste of olives, some people love them...i cannot choose to be among them. I know comparing food choices to being gay might seem like a stretch, but I don't think the basic programming of what people are naturally attracted to differs as much as you might think. Why are some people gay? I dunno...don't care either, but to discriminate against them because of it is just as archaic as discrimination over skin color or any other basic unfounded prejudice.

By relating it to race they diminish their argument.*

I don't think he's relating it to race, I think he's relating the similarities in the prejudice in general, and the attempt to keep certain rights from them because of it.

Homosexuality far predates the religious writings that tell you it's wrong....books written by men I might add, men that quite possibly had their own prejudices and motivations.

  11. I agree with that for the most part, and i've always been puzzled as to why they won't accept that compromise...why they have to fight for the term "marriage". The end result would be the same, and they could even call it marriage between themselves if they really felt the need. Hopefully someday that compromise will be made, then everyone can be miserable...erm, i mean happy :)
