Fatty April 16, 2004 Share Fatty GC Founder April 16, 2004 Install it to a different directory... Set your graphics to software and try it. (these are only things I would try off the top of my head) Send m0m an email, he may never see this....or PM him, or AIM him....
Vain April 16, 2004 Share Vain Member April 16, 2004 Let's try some simple stuff, check and see if you have more than one pair of drivers installed for your graphics card. If you only have one installed, check and see if it is the right type for your graphics card. Wether it is or not, uninstall it. Download the newest drivers you can find for your stuff and install them. It also might be your color depth or whatever it's called, 16-bit, 32-bit, hopefully you know what I mean. Try this stuff and tell me what happens.
Vain April 16, 2004 Share Vain Member April 16, 2004 Also, if you have the newest drivers, try rolling back to some older versions, like one you can remember you had no problems with.
flux April 16, 2004 Share flux Member April 16, 2004 also try a system restore to when it worked, if it did.

TeK April 16, 2004 Share TeK Member April 16, 2004 Do you have an ATI card? CS has been known to have goofy graphics problems sometimes with ATI's and sometimes major fps drops. Maybe read up a bit on that if u have one.
lazarus April 16, 2004 Author Share lazarus Member April 16, 2004 yeah i got the radeon 9600 xt a small little breakthru, i have NOT done the driver sweep yet but i did go into my cs settings and took fats advice and i turned the video setting to software and whammo, fixed, except that i get 30 fps and the video is terrible the same thing with D3D video setting, i get the load screen great BUT the video is really weird and lags. does this help any with figuring out the problem? Fatty April 16, 2004 Share Fatty GC Founder April 16, 2004 yes it does it means the problem is originating with STEAM working with your video drivers. So....do the driver sweep and find one that works. You should have access to all kinds of drivers from old to new.
mrX April 16, 2004 Share mrX GC Alumni April 16, 2004 I'd suggest the catalyst 4.1 or 4.4, but nothing in between those as the ones in between really screwed up playing any games for me for a bit. I tried the Omega drivers based on 4.3 (I think) and those didn't even work right. Not sure what was changed, but those in-between drivers just wouldn't work well on my system. I'm running: ATI 9800pro P4 2.4 512 PC1066 RDRAM Dell 8250 Series After "upgrading" to 4.3 and trying the Omega drivers based on 4.3, my SWG was regularly dropping to under 5 FPS, even with all low settings, when previously I had it set to blended performance and was pegging the 29 FPS max for that game. Fortunately, 4.4 seems to have fixed these issues. I manually removed the .infs and registry stuff, but people are having luck with driver cleaner, which is prolly easier.
