bullet-401 August 4, 2004 Share bullet-401 Member August 4, 2004 In your DOOM 3 directory, find "DoomConfig.cfg" (x:\Program Files\Doom 3\base). Open DoomConfig.cfg in Notepad. Find the line: seta image_cacheMegs "32" I changed 32 to 96. I got a nice boost in performance. I dunno if the tweak worked or not (maybe my machine did something wierd, have no clue), so I'm just seeing if this works for others as well, or if a different setting works better than others. If you have 1gig of ram or more I would suggest setting it to 512. (Gonna try it tonight) forum

Guest zerodamage August 4, 2004 Share Guest zerodamage Guests August 4, 2004 (edited) Guys, in the cfg file mentioned above, you can change the Anti-scopic filtering setting to 4 and not notice a difference at all in Image Quality but notice a decent performance boost. So try it in High Quality and then go in and change that. There is a tweak guide somewhere for this game, let me find it. By the way, I am playing at 1024 x 768 High Quality settings without a hitch. My X800 pro having the full 16 pipes helps a lot. I also noticed though that my GPU temp doesn't move much at all. This game doesn't push the Pixel shading power of these cards. I think it is mostly Memory bandwidth and Fillrate. Edited August 4, 2004 by zerodamage
Guest zerodamage August 4, 2004 Share Guest zerodamage Guests August 4, 2004 As per above, here is the file location and file name. I pulled this from Driverheaven.net In your DOOM 3 directory, find "DoomConfig.cfg" (x:\Program Files\Doom 3\base). Open DoomConfig.cfg in Notepad. Find the line: "seta image_cacheMegs XX". Where XX is, try increasing this value in according to how much ram you have. I have 1 GB of ram, so I set it to 256, HUGE boost in framerate, game runs a lot smoother now. Try these values: 32, 96, 128, 256. I got about a 22FPS boost in SP... Try it out
Guest zerodamage August 4, 2004 Share Guest zerodamage Guests August 4, 2004 To enable the console create a shortcut that appends +seta com_allowConsole "1" to Doom3 or press CTRL ALT ~ Doom3.exe +seta com_allowConsole "1" Access the console using the ~ key (below ESC).
