so i used to know the answer to this but maybe you sports buffs can find out for me.

 

heres the question:

 

which division 1A school DO NOT have "university" or "college" in their offical name.

 

i know some off the top of my head, but i know there's more out there.

so let's see who's got the real sports knowledge round these parts.

I dunno, like Villanova and Pepperdine would be my guess. Rutgers maybe. hmmm those are prbly wrong, they were just off the top of my head.

Just to think of a few of the top of my head...

 

Virginia Technical Institute, Virginia Military Institute, California Institute of Technology..

i think va tech is the only 1a school on that list.

 

vmi and cal tech are 2a or 3a.

 

i know some:

army

navy

va tech

ga tech

 

there are more just cant think of any

I would think most of the A&M schools, because I believe Texas A&M is the Texas School of Agricultre and Mines...

 

Scratch that, I'm an idiot...but the then what is Texas A&M University?

okay it took me all of today at work to find the answer but i got it:

 

division 1 schools without university or college in their official name:

 

1. Georgia Institute of Technology (ga tech)

2. US Military Academy (west point/army)

3. US Air Force Academy

4. US Naval Academy(annapolis/navy)

5. The Citadel

6. Virginia Military Institute

 

and division 1A football schools without university in their official name:

1. Georgia Institute of Technology (ga tech)

2. US Military Academy (west point/army)

3. US Air Force Academy

4. US Naval Academy(annapolis/navy)

5. Boston College

 

now go wow your friends with your sports knowledge.

 

ps- this is a throughly checked list, some schools official names are tricky.
