steam reg in use by another program

i get that error message every time i try and open steam. ive tried reinstalling it. i also cant open my regedit. im running avg right now last night it found a trojan on my pc thnx to my gf now idk what to do im at a loss. also whn i try to shut down my pc it pops up with an end program message for a hidden program.

Download a program called "highjackthis" It will tell you exactly what your computer is running at that time.

 

Be careful! Once you remove it from highjackthis it will be permanently gone.

thanks ill try tht whn i get home. avg isnt detecting anything so hopefully this will.

Get the name of that program that won't shut down and google it. There is a lot of process information on the web.
