Preacher June 15, 2009 Share Preacher Member June 15, 2009 Tonight my sound began going on and off then finally just was a crackle. The front jack works but not well do to it having a short, so the onboard sound is no longer functional. The worst part is that I just donated an external sound card to my church. Does anyone have an external sound card that they can spare or would be willing to trade for something? I have a few games and some hardware sitting around that might be adequate compensation. I would prefer to have a USB interface for simplicity sake. I'm so broke right now that I can't pay attention lol. We live near a Chrysler and a GM plant that have been shut down and are both out of work. Even fast food jobs are next to impossible to get around here (really). Anyway enough "poor me" lol if anyone can hook me up I would be grateful.
bushwack June 15, 2009 Share bushwack Member June 15, 2009 I hear ya Preacher, I've been laid off and we are barely scrapping by. We will be fine as long as nothing breaks or anyone gets sick. The 1/8" jack messed up on my wife's laptop so I picked up one of these of ebay for under $3 shipped. It's kinda flaky but works. cheapo USB sound

bushwack June 15, 2009 Share bushwack Member June 15, 2009 well I just bought one, thanks bro. What did you mean by flaky? It doesn't actually activate till you use a program that uses sound, hard to explain and it's just strange. Sometimes the driver wouldn't initialize and you would have to unplug and replugin the USB. Maybe because it was trying to work in conjunction with our laptops sound card, maybe if you don't have any sound at all it will work perfect.
