It's mainly for the custom campaigns and hopefully for the 4v4 matchmaking. I'm happy that we're getting the source maps for ALL the 20 original maps. Honestly, I'm not really excited for any updates for L4D anymore. Mainly because of everything they promised to be in L4D which is basically what you call today as L4D2.
