Flitterkill March 1, 2012 Share Flitterkill GC Board Member March 1, 2012 Did anyone around here actually have winter? Harrisonburg, VA had maybe two nights where the temperature dropped below 20F. Snow existed only to melt upon the ground immediately. Perennials bloomed last week. Seriously. Anyhoo, strange as the weather has been, it *is* March now, meaning it is time once again to throw some stuff back at our wonderful contributing members. This will be the third we've done by my feeble reckoning. Lessons learned? Shipping both sucks and blows. That's the main one. As such, after this membership drive/celebration/whatever it's gonna be a NewEgg giftcard extravaganza. And now that we no longer have full sponsorship, these drives will become the singular "drive" after this September. We'll move to one a year every September, celebrate GC and stuff, perhaps increase the prize-ification, etc. So whats the rules for this one? If you pay or paid dues between October 1st, 2011 and March 31st, 2012 you are entered for a chance at the stuff to be randomly drawn for early April 2012. If you feel like donating out of the kindness of your heart, $5 thrown at us will get you an entry as well (this is for those whose membership is already current). Anyone winning who is *not* residing in the lower 48 of the USA won't get any physical stuff we have to give out; we'll make up for it of course and let someone else in on the physical prize. Like I said, shipping blows; internationally more so. What's that you say? Something about the strange Bender Brau logo in the graphic? A clue, a hint... Let me also remind everyone that at least half of GC is due for renewal round about now. If your renewal is up this month, feel free to wait until later in the month to renew. A day or two more (yes, yes...) and the GC store will be open for membership purchasing and I/we would really appreciate you go that route. The beauty there is everything is automated with reminder emails and all that stuff. Once you go the store route your GC Coalition membership renewal will be determined by *DAY*, not month. All the more reason to milk out that March clock for those renewing. Even though I have the GC purse strings currently in hand I suspect it would be frowned upon if I...say... "invested" in things or "gambled" our funds in the hopes of increasing them. Party poopers like you are the reason why we have a remarkably stable financial situation at the moment and reasonable prize give-aways. Now, if I was to gamble then perhaps I could throw some major dime about like one of our newer GC members is doing... Since we now have the automated store I'll also be compiling what will hopefully be the last ever list of who needs to renew over the next year or so.
