communist March 4, 2015 Share communist Member March 4, 2015 (edited) late last night me and a few (max of 6) people were playing humbly around 1 am - 2 am cst. then the map was dark carnival and some more people joined, as did an admin. i shot the gnome down from the billboard and starting tossing it down the road with me. i did not forget about my team mates though! the admin told me to stop carrying the gnome even though i wasn't holding on to the gnome for more then 2 seconds. he said "stop carrying the gnome, manz. this is a versus server. if you're carrying the gnome you can not be shooting people." i am sure these were his exact words, and if not they are extremely close. i told him "i know this is a versus server, dude. i read the title when i clicked on it. besides i am leading the team in special infected kills and points." by this i didn't mean any harm, i just wanted him to understand i wasn't lollygagging around. i do help my team when someone needs help and i kill any special infected i see. by the time we made it to the second bridge of the highway i stopped touching the gnome completely. skipping forward some, because this most likely is another contribute to the ban. third section of dark carnival i said somebody was stupid. i say he is stupid because i have him 28 points and told him multiple times (can't even remember the vast amount of times) how to full heal yourself. he died and i said he was stupid. the admin gave me a warning and i asked him "seriously? a warning?" he replied with "do not call your team mates stupid, manz." i then said "sorry for stating facts." it was something around those lines. i then left the server after a few additional minutes later. the ban reason is "Asked him repeatedly to stop escorting gnome and play the game. Kept arguing and mocked me. Post to forums if you want to play." and, i do have to say that is wrong. never once did i mock this admin or continued to touch the gnome. now i am sure the whole ordeal with the warning he gave me for calling someone stupid was around the lines of an argument. but, i do not believe this is worth a permanent ban. i do not mean to sound arrogant but i am no where near dead weight on a team. i try my hardest to be as helpful as possible to the team. even as i was tossing the gnome ahead i would check on my team mates, and kill special infected as they came towards us. now i my have been rude, but i wasn't vulgar in any way. if i left any other section of this story out i am sorry. i have had a few really long nights in a row. school work is a drag. thanks for reading this long appeal. I will message him to check this out and see if he has more to add before we consider the unban request. You need to understand that GC welcomes all gamers, regardless of skill level. Even though we have a point system on our L4D2 servers to buy things, we do not require people to use it. communist March 4, 2015 Author Share communist Member March 4, 2015 (edited) You need to understand that GC welcomes all gamers, regardless of skill level. i don't know about that. some members are not fond of the lower skilled players. there was this girl talking about the possibility of having to purchase membership in order to keep the newer players out of the servers. i have no idea who this individual is or even if she has the authority to do this. but, i only heard this so to me it is a rumor. any who thanks for the update. I will repeat and further clarify my major points of our discussion last night during the course of the ammo pile to the motel section of the first carnival map. This is a 10 versus 10 server. If you have a gnome in your hands and escort the gnome throughout the map, you are not playing our servers the way it's intended to be played - preventing progression to the saferoom by enacting merciless death and destruction upon the opposite team. This late at night, we have players from other countries, less experienced players, and many who don't know the rules. We don't want players escorting the gnome/cola, playing the carnival games, trying to earn "campaign" achievements, and anything else that hinders map progression in a 10 vs.10 versus mode. Thus, we don't allow anyone to do such things and set bad examples. After our discussion, I assumed compliance. As you can see, both statements are 100% false. So let's address the third issue - you calling team mates stupid for not using his points to get up from a roof hang. We don't allow players to disrespect and insult others based on skill and they are not obligated to use their points if they can't, don't want, or don't know how to. Again, this late at night, we often get many new and/or foreign players, so they may not understand English or don't know how to use the server commands. So please don't insult players simply because they are not doing what you are telling them to do. Our L4D2 servers are very popular and highly ranked, and we strictly enforce the rules to keep the gaming environment fun, fair and adhere to GC values. If you can't handle the "sensitivity", then I suggest you may want to play somewhere else. Since this is your first ban, I will reduce it to 3 days. Please take this opportunity to review the rules. Stick with your team•No swearing, insulting, or offensive language•No inappropriate sprays•No griefing•No spamming•No team stacking•No cheating•Do not !votekick for skill The reason we don't allow people to say "Edward, you're honestly stupid", isn't because we have "sensitive" people on our servers. It is because we have normal people who just want to play a computer game without being insulted and belittled.
