  1. I like this idea and would probably play some. I would suggest that we determine the slowest night for the server and set it up then, maybe we can boost the traffic for that night.

This. Yah I can be mostly blamed for the death of the shortly lived GG server, however I do agree that Gungame on GC works much better for stuff like this than in adding a server so I'm all for it.

  2. While it angers me to no end that they do not seem intent at all on ever releasing/making (if they ever even started) Half Life 2: Episode Three, this could actually be really good. Especially this

He claims that Valve wish to fix mistakes made in previous versions of the game, although their main target audience aren't only the former competitive communities of 1.6 or Source. Instead, they would rather attract a new community that combines both Counter-Strike 1.6 and CS: Source communities, competitive and casual gamers a like. Valve have brought over several Europeans and American play-testers to help move development along.

makes the new Counter Strike sound promising. Now of course there's really no official information yet so this is all speculation, but that would be great if Valve really worked on bringing together the best parts of Source and 1.6.

  3. Crap this really sucks .... i did not get the Raise your hand if you are comming email me and my daughter where planning on attending.

I dont know about anyone else but i am now out about $350 cus I bought a tent and various other things.... maybe i can get some use out of them next year.

Same here, I only got the Fragfest is cancelled e-mail.

Really? You realize that Fragfest would have already happened about two weeks a go right?

  4. What I mean is I'm tired of new DLC like new maps every 3 months or new this or new that and everytime they want to charge you $15-$20 for this new material. When this should of all been thought of, put in the game originally so that it has enough variety to keep you entertained for a long period of time without the need to constantly release this stuff. It's a huge moneymaking scheme that really irritates me with newer games today.

I agree with FK that all they need to do is update the game regularly, maybe do an expansion pack at least a year down the road, not 3 months, and also not charge me for this crap. I think my big beef is really more with CoD than any other game because it's fun, but they are always releasing new maps that they want to charge you for and before you can even download it, they announce call of duty modern warfare 45!, coming in 30 days -_-.

Also none of those D2 mods are official from blizzard, which is what i was talking about. Blizzard doesn't release mods of their own really for the game. Hence why I played D2 for years without any.

Also why i get tired of content coming out for games, i think it's because I don't want to spend the rest of my life on a game, i want to have it, enjoy it, maybe a couple years, then feel like I've played it enough that I can buy something different and move on. CS:S was no different, though I played it longer than any other game, I kinda moved on, and the day they ever release a newer CS I'll prolly drop D3 and move on to that. Or try to play them simultaneously :)

And another side rant, people playing WoW who started the day it was released, MOVE ON. lol

Well duh, game companies do not make mods. Mods get made and released by the customers themselves i.e. Counter Strike. If you've never heard of Median XL and are itching to play some kind of Diablo while Diablo 3 slowly takes it time check it out (http://modsbylaz.hugelaser.com/). Also I can understand being frustrated by DLC's, I hate them too. It's a lot more profitable for a company to make small content and release it for around 10-15 dollars than spending the time on a proper expansion pack. I'm not saying that games should keep you entertained forever, but I hate when companies refuse to let the users fool around with them.

  5. Honestly of all the news being released concerning Diablo 3 this seems to be the most reasonable. If anything I'm more angry about the decision to make D3 online only. Though I guess that's not surprising since that's what they did for Starcraft 2. However Blizzard has now come out and said that there will be no mods whatsoever. Which of course means that when you're tired of all the content in the game then there's nothing else you can do.

There weren't really any mods for D2 either, but I still played that game for years. They're still going to patch it, and hopefully add a few things along the way with updates just like they have with D2. Prolly an expansion pack at some point. If they make it as solid as D2 was, its hard to get tired of the game, especially when they reset the ladder and your need to start a whole new set of characters all over. That's part of what kept people playing was ladder resets. I personally get tired of so much DLC and mods always coming out for games.

I'm confused, how could you not like/get tired of free content coming out for games that users make? Sorry if that sounded like an insult I'm just confused and trying to figure out what exactly you mean.

P.S. There were plenty of D2 Mods, people are still playing them even now

  7. Whelp almost done with Storm of Swords and all I can say for you guys watching the show is, the first season is just a introduction to A Song Of Ice And Fire. George R R Martin seems to feed on the tears of his readers

  8. All this talk of CS:S makes me want to play again...

You aint kiddin, l4d made me stop playing when i had devoted like 6 years of my life to CS 1.6 or source and i really miss it.

Then switch it up and play CSS every once in a while?

  9. I still haven't seen the series... not having cable is sometimes a witch, but I am a huge fan of the books so I can't wait to watch.

You'd have to own HBO in addition to cable anyway which is a bummer, but do a little searching on the intertubes and you should be able to find them *wink wink*. Just started Storm of Swords yesterday, and already I'm fearing for what's going to happen in this one.

  10. Has anyone else been watching this show? While it's only been on for a season it's been incredible so far, so much in fact that I've even gone out and purchased the books to start reading even though the second season won't start until next spring.

  11. Woah, woah, woah... slow your roll guys and instead you should probably poor out some bubbly cause the server is ranked #2 and apparently has been for a week. That's definitely something for everyone to be proud of

  12. it's typically a setting in the BT client. in transmission (mac) it's "prefer encrypted peers" and "ignore unencrypted peers." you should also be able to set the port in the preferences, too. not sure what the windows kids are using these days, but i know utorrent had a similar setting in the long long ago.

Yah uTorrent does and most BT clients should. Preacher I would just google how to force encryption for your particular BT client or whichever file sharing program you are using (I believe DC++ has it as well).

  13. Well I don't think Guild Wars 2 will have that high of server costs compared to most MMOs, and plus honestly I don't think that any company that has released a MMO has ever actually needed the monthly fee to stay afloat. To me it just seems like an extra money making scheme, think of how rich Blizzard has gotten from WoW subscriptions.

  14. isn't this illegal?

but hypothetically, i'd force encryption on all my torrent traffic and use a common port. you'll lose some peers, but you'll save your internets.

This. Honestly been encrypting long enough that I don't notice the difference and it's absolutely worth it for the peace of mind
