  1. out of curiosity, has anyone met Lunk IRL?

I would guess for the majority of folks on these boards, he is but a mythical creature - only spoken of in hushed voices and heresay. I reckon that there are some, though, that have seen him in the flesh - they are merely reticent to recount any encounters.

  2. I'm not going to dive headlong into the meat of this discussion, but I want to respond to LFPC (and back mookie) by saying the times of the "unbiased" news source have been over for quite some time. You disagree with Fox News, so they are obviously biased and cannot be used to back arguments. I say it's laughable that you claim NPR to be an unbiased source. I'm guessing your "backing" for this belief would be from other liberal sources. NO ONE here should be claiming unbiased sources or blowing off other sources simply because of who they are. Facts have to be parsed out by the end user these days. Sort through the bias BS and eventually you may find out what actually happened.

Calling out ZDs sources due to bias is a weak and petty thing and contributes nothing to the heart of the conversation. I could easily say the same thing about NPR, and yet it is still ignoring the facts that are still present (deep down in there) from ANY source.

News companies know their audiences and cater to them in nearly everything they do. How else can you explain the fact that Chris Matthews still has a job hosting political coverage and a "news" show?

  3. I'm working for a creative agency here and doing work for Xbox, so any time I had for gaming is now spent doing "research and development," which means playing around on Xbox LIVE and sucking terribly at Halo 4. At least it was an easy transition from being bad at CS to being bad at Halo.

    That's it that's all.

Timeout, you're on Live?? Post your GT up in the forums!

    Also, :wavey: Fatty

What these guys said about the games, LFD2, CS:GO, Minecraft. A few folks around here play Diablo 3 fairly regularly as well. I used to be one of them until I lost access to a usable form of high speed internets for my gaming computer. Hopefully to be restored in a month.

  4. ^ Pretty much that is what I was trying to say. INCOME TAX is what I was referring to, and it's what the dems are talking about when they say raising rates so they "pay their fair share". You could tax them to oblivion, and it would 1) not cover the deficit in any meaningful way and 2) result in a massive loss of jobs. Those folks may have a lot of wealth, but it's not in a purely taxable-money form.

Raise your hand if you've ever been gainfully employed with benefits by a poor person.

  5. I, for one, am looking forward to it. I loved every one of the first trilogy, especially ME3. Once the winter rush of games subsides, I'm going back for my third playthrough of ME3, first run through the DLC!

  6. The total US wealth is 118 trillion. 80% of us own 7%.. 8 trillion dollars. Our government is going broke and if it took the entire wealth of the 80%, it would only cut the national debt in half. By not asking those with the money to pay down the debt seems.. well impossible.

I understand why some people believe this to be the case. However, even if the top 1% gave ALL of their money to the government, it STILL wouldn't balance the budget. I don't think anyone here thinks the tax burden for the top few percent needs to be LOWERED, but raising it isn't the solution either. Here's a crazy idea: how about the government quits spending money that they don't have?

  7. Referring back to the game itself:

It's done. Halo 4 has already shipped, and it probably went gold over a month ago. That executive producer's main job of working to ensure a good product is finished. Yes, there is more stuff they will be doing for MP and such, but the heavy lifting is done. If she wants to focus attention on affecting the multiplayer experience, go for it.

Side note: if "executive producer" in gaming means the same thing as "executive producer" in the movie business, then it's possible she contributed very little to the actual development of the game. Ever wonder why movies have one or two producers and a hundred "executive producers"? The cousin of the director could suggest they change the color of the hero's outfit, contribute nothing else to the project, and get awarded with an executive producer credit. Obviously this isn't always the case, but it often is something minor that can turn into that credit.

  8. Dropping in to say I really doubt the Surface Pro will be as expensive as some are thinking at the moment. I wouldn't be surprised by $899-$999. Yeah, it's not a lot less but it is less. I'm planning on getting one - it can replace 95% of the functionality of my laptop while being a fraction of the size. The 5% is the occasional light gaming - I'm not sure that Surface will be able to match this for gaming, even though it isn't a beast by any stretch (Core i7, GTS 425M).

Also, for those that are throwing the iPad thing around: Surface Pro is NOT a competitor to iPad, and I will also say Surface RT offers more capability for productivity than iPad at a similar cost. I DO wish that the $499 Surface RT came with the touch cover keyboard, seeing as how they are marketing it as a package.

  9. Never played the first one or this new one. What is this game about and like anyway?

Do you like to shoot things?

Do you like to shoot midgets and/or mutant creatures?

Do you like to shoot midgets and/or mutant creatures in the face with a shotgun that fires 3 cartridges of explosive/fire/shock/acidic hellfire at one time?

If the answer is "YES", then this game is definitely for you.

Bazillions of awesome, procedurally generated random weapons. Pistols that, when reloaded, are thrown and explode like grenades, with a fresh one materializing in your hand. Revolvers, SMGs, shotguns, assault rifles, sniper rifles, modded grenades that, when thrown, can spawn 10 little grenades to carpet bomb an area.

Oh, and 4 (soon to be 5) different classes with special abilities and branching skill trees full of awesome upgrades.

    ...

Plus all that other stuff Anonymo said.

    Does that answer your question?

  10. As already stated, humor is spot on and permeates the experience. Shooting and looting is just as awesome as it was before. I also think the FOV thing has helped A LOT from BL1. I used to get nauseous after a while of playing it and I'm having zero problems with the new one. I'm only level 8, but it's been great so far.

I haven't played any co-op yet, so hoping to try that out soon. It looks like getting a party together or joining one already in progress seems dead simple though. Similar look to main menu of Diablo III.

  11. Of course when he said "Irish", he may have meant Gaelic. My daughter has been trying to learn that for a while.

Personally I speak English, Spanish and French and can read Greek, Hebrew and Latin. I'm going to try and learn Russian next year when I go back for my masters degree. I've always been interested in learning one of the languages with the Cyrillic alphabet.

    Nerd.

  12. I think I'm leaning towards keeping what we have. The map isn't too huge yet, imo, plus there were quite a few people with some big projects (DF and amertrash come to mind). If the consensus is new map + add in individual stuff, then I'm fine without my stuff being added in.

    *edit

I just logged back in for the first time in many months, and was happy to see my place was as I left it. There were, however, many signs posted throughout my house from someone who had stumbled upon it. Judging by the nether portal that was in the middle of the house, I'm guessing someone may have portaled themselves there by chance.

I also forgot about my sweet enchanted tools.

I would like to keep this map if possible.

  13. Keep us posted on a potential new server. I've been thinking about hopping back into this game a little and had kind of hit a wall on my house project.
