  1. There is a city north of here that makes cane sugar Dr.P all of the time, I will have a friend pick it up on the way down here. How much you want / where you want it shipped to?

  2. So, I totally jacked the gcftw.com idea and bought txftw.com to try and create an in real life gamer community in the Austin/San Antonio area. Just wanted to let you know it was me biting your style (like you will ever hear about my site anyways).

  3. I have used buy.com with great success but really, I was expecting there to be a difference in the cameras. I know that different lenses cost hundreds of dollars and what not. I was curious what the difference was since I wasn't seeing it. Just trying to learn a little, not start a fight.

  4. So far, the download from Microsoft has gotten to 99% and no farther, I have stopped and restarted many times, but it doesn't totally finish...so maybe I won't be loading Win7 this weekend >:(

I can tell you that download managers seem to time out a lot when downloading this and the Microsoft link fails each and every time as well after about 300MB. I just synced the files to my Dropbox so I can grab them again if I need them. The process of getting them is annoying and there were too many inconsistencies with the torrent sizes for me to trust them.

I will say that my Dual Xeon system did not like Windows 7 or vise versa. It would install and then I would get a hal.dll missing error. Very odd. I might also have a bad Hard Drive.

Fresh install, or upgrade install getting the hal error?

  5. I believe that in Vista Aeroglass was an additional process so it took resources to run it, and in Windows 7 it is a native kernel feature. I will check with MS to confirm (probably know in a day or so). If that is the case then running classic mode would mean all it is doing is wrapping a classic UI over aeroglass so you wouldn't be getting anything performance wise.

  6. I use the pro drop box the 50GB to sync my truecrypt "file cabinets" and then I use live mesh to sync my windows mobile phone to my drop box folder. So when I take a picture or video on my phone it automatically sync's to my PC and then to drop box and I have a public link for it. Pretty slick.

  7. Also I gotta figure out how to get my quick launch back

That's what I was thinking, guess I could start using icons on the desktop...The thing is, if I'm actually using the computer I never see the desktop.

What I do is put the icons on the desktop that I want, then enable the "Desktop" toolbar. It creates a drop down menu of all your desktop icons. Much more space efficient and useful. Give it a try.

when you first make it, it will be on the right and won't look very good. If you drag it to the left it will snap beside the start button, then you shrink it up and it looks good. Here is a picture of my desktop....

  8. well, I downloaded it and replaced my XP build. I immediately set it to the classic view.. Other than some UI changes, I see not noticable difference between this and XP. The only plus I can think of so far is that it can see more than 3.5 gigs of ram...

a side note: I'm a minimalist and power user, so I care less about nifty little tricks and cool UI options. But whatever, I guess it's time to jump on the bandwagon.... and there is also the immediate pain in the rear of asking me if I'm sure I want to run everything. This is great for noobs, but not for professionals.. Also I gotta figure out how to get my quick launch back

I would really suggest not doing that. Eventually classic view is no longer being supported and by doing so you are essentially disabling all of the new features.
