I'm looking to see if any of you have used any design software for the Mac. I want to create my own plans for a Shed/Workshop I'm building in the backyard. It will either be 16 x 16 or 16 x 20. But I would like to see it rendered in software first then be able to compile a list of materials off of that rendering. Is there anything out there other than an Auto Cad (read expensive) software?

Finally got a Product key. Just needed to sign up for a Microsoft Live ID. I'm not doing a dual boot atm. I did a fresh install on my old laptop and it seems to working pretty good. Other than the fact that my old laptop still has an issue with locking up, I'm thinking it may be heat related at this point. The whole task bar is a bit different still trying to get that adjusted to my liking. I'm also going to try to download AVGFree and install it. I want to see what happens. On another note: I purchased a Maxtor 1TB Central Axis Server yesterday. What a DUD, wouldn't work out of the box, setup kept failing, firmware update failed. What a POS. Now I've got to find another backup device, because my old NAS died. Guess I'll have to go with a USB or FireWire setup.

Ok so where are you downloading the 4.3gb from? My installation on my laptop is almost complete. It's preparing my desktop atm. Should be using it in a few minutes.

Is their file bigger than the 2.5gig I downloaded from the site ZD posted?

Microsoft is opening up a test version of Windows 7 for folks to download this Friday. It will expire in 6 months. And I would like to try it out for grins. But I'm in a training class thru Friday, then driving home from Dallas Friday afternoon. Any chance someone could download it and host it so that I might get it Friday night? It will be available at here Thanks. BTW I just read about this in USA Today Paper while having my morning coffee.

Try this program it's called Prism it's free and it works pretty good. I've been using it on my macbook. They also have a version for windows.

Good question. I honestly don't know. I think it may be in NTFS. But again, I really don't know.

I've got a NAS setup on my network. I can access it just fine from all of my PC's. I can't seem to access it from my new Macbook. Anyone have any insight on this. It shows it in my shared list of my home folder. Just won't let me connect to it.

BTW, I found a program called Prism, it converts all my video files into .mov files. Which allows iMovie08 to import without having to go thru iPhoto. It's also free.

It doesn't ALWAYS work. I tried that several times and it would not eject. They had to put a thick strip of tape and use a putty knife to contact it with the DVD, then forcibly pull the DVD out while pushing the eject button.

So after converting the video to mpeg4 with Handbrake, importing it into iPhoto, then restarting the macbook. iMovie8 recognizes it. Go figure

Ok, I've about decided that iMovie8 isn't worth a pint of pi$$. I converted some home video to mpeg4 format and it still won't import it. iMovie6 HD is ok with it. What gives with iMovie8? BTW Handbrake seems to work pretty good.

iMovies8 just doesn't seem to like AVI files. They import fine in iMovie6 HD. Thanks for that link. I'm just trying to compile all my home movies of the kids onto DVD's. Nothing fancy.

Um, there is no "import from file" option. Only: Import from Camera Import iMovie HD Project Import Movies

Just back from the Apple Store. They gave me a new Macbook no hassles. I have to say customer service so far is great. Now a couple of questions: Why the h3ll doesn't IMovie8 accept AVI videos? What's the best way to convert said AVI videos?

Yeah well, I tried putting a Store Bought DVD in there. It sucked it in, won't play it and won't eject it. Sounds like it's grinding the thing up. Not off to a good start. On a side note my wife's seems to be working perfectly.
