  1. yes, please unrestrict the auto, it's silly that you can buy an awp and not the auto

Try just deleting Contra, cause I recall other people stating that they had a problem with that map as well.. I think there are a few versions that are very similar. Either way, once you delete it when you connect you'll get the right one.
  3. looks like everyone is for it, now if we can just get an admin to remove the restriction on the server...
  4. yeah, before you know it the topic will be locked on "Obama is a Muslim in disguise"
  5. I think the 2 awp limit is working well, although I have been frustrated by that restriction myself, if it's not in place then the winning team has way too much of an advantage with the standard money rates. It's the reason I kinda want the auto sniper back, because with a 2 awp limit there is no other sniping option other than the scout which will totally messes up your awping rhythm. Atleast with an auto, you can blow the moeny you would have spent on an awp, and maybe kill some people with P90's until you get awped On a side note.. wouldnt it be nice if they fixed the awp? By "fix" I mean increase the re-load time, zoom time, or make you inaccurate while you're taking damage. The awp is one of those guns that takes using any of the other guns out of the game because it so effective and powerful. I finally got to the point when I decided to start using it because if you dont, you cant really kill awpers on a regular basis...
  6. so, it seems like some people are open to this change (still need some more feedback)... 1 auto per team then? Also, who would be the person that makes changes such as weapons restriction to the server, just curious?
  7. Ok - so there is a scopeless server now, and from what I can see in some of the posts and from talking to people on the server people seem to want the Auto Sniper unrestricted. The auto is definately not as powerful as the AWP, and I cant think of any reason it is restricted other than no one ever requesting it be unrestricted when scopeless came back up. I dont really like the gun that much, but I still think it's a fun option when you're loaded with cash, and I dont see why removing a lesser gun than the awp somehow makes things fair. I dont know who makes the changes to the server, but if we have enough support (people please post if you agree/disagree) could you please consider unrestricting the Auto-Sniper on Retro. Thanks
  8. quoted from San's quote about exploits After 2 disappointing 5-3 CAL seasons, I wont have to worry about CAL rules anymore - its just too hard to beat those teams of 5 bunny hopping awpers... and no, I wont "join" them Thanks for the link!
  9. I've been trying to find a way to block hearing the radio sounds in CS, yet I cannot find any post or person explaining how to do it. Does anyone here know how to block them? If so please post a link or instructions - I dont know about you guys but I'm so sick of hearing "Fire in the hole!" 10-20 times every round. Thanks in advance for any "helpful" replies.
  10. Actually, GunsforHire is much worse than Zan. I think Zan has been getting so much heat that he's stopped his old ways. I know what you mean about baiting being slayable, but some of my friends and I intentionally bait each other. For example, one guy hides to the side of a doorway, the other makes noise and draws the enemy in past said doorway... It works well in scrims and on pubs alike, and could be mistaken for not "helping", but we know exactly what we are doing. I would think slaying people for hiding in corners during a gunfight and not moving up could be hard to enforce cause "smart" playing can easily be seen as typical baiting. It's just frustrating on a starting push, and only 2 guys go out and after you die, you look on the radar to see 4 people "watching our backs" when there is no way the enemy could come from behind that fast Teamplay/common sense is so hard to enforce....
  11. thanks for the replies, I appreciate the feedback. If I get anymore accusations I'll be sure to post it. I've been a regular on GC for years and really enjoy playing with you guys, yet was getting sick of people accusing me of ghosting when I dont. If anything, I get killed from people chatting in my vent channel while I'm still alive, and I think it's frustrating getting accused of something you didnt do or even support. On a somewhat related topic, cause I feel this is the only time ghosting is appropriate, why are the admins on GC so apposed to slaying people that arent going for the objectives? I've tried giving Lunk a hard time for it, and he said it's cause he doesnt want to "deal" with the complaining that follows (cant say I blame him). Is that how most of you guys feel about it? - is it acceptable for people to hang outside a bombsite and try to pick off kills. I always supported the "Try or Die" method to enforce objectives What I'm noticing from a few regulars now is they hang outside the kill zone til the last moment to pick off people running away, then make a token attempt to defuse and die from the blast. Sure is a cheap way to boost your rank....
  12. I wanted to make a post about the accusations of ghosting that have been flying around lately on the server. It seems that anytime someone is in a clan, and they kill a camper, the assumption is that they were ghosting. In fact, I've been accused by gc's and regulars (most recently Chenzen) that I was ghosting many times recently, and I'd like to clear up that I dont ghost for clanmates, and no one in my clan does either (-=RP=-). Please stop accusing people of ghosting, it's poor sportsmanship, and you shouldn't assume people are doing it just cause you cant figure out how they knew where you were. Remember, when you kill someoene, there is a little X on the radar, and if the teammate saw you before they died, you showup on the radar as well. If you just killed someone from a corner, and dont move, and their teammate comes to find you and checks the "usual" spots... dont complain that they are ghosting, it's just weak. I know most of you dont care if any does or not, but I'd like to find out what some of you think about ghosting. I find that servers that dont allow you to see whats going on after you die to be boring, because you cant see the whole picture of the battle and being dead isnt as fun. However, allowing dead people to see the action on both sides opens up exploits by using ventrillo for friends to tell others where people are. Personally, I find someone telling me where people are to be more distracting, and I only approve of it when the last guy isnt going for the objective (Zan/GunsforHire). Often, I try to play under the assumption that I'm being ghosted, and really dont care if other people do because I dont camp one spot as much as most people. I try to move around and check my back often, and most of all, rotate after a kill. Does anyone else feel that ghosting has ruined CS pubs? Or do you feel that ghosting is totally acceptable? I dont think it's against the posted GC rules.. and in some cases, if admins wont slay people for not going for objectives....
  13. It was 66 for awhile when they increased the slots (large 100 tick servers are very expensive), then after a few months they upgraded to 100 again with the extra slots. I remember because I was happy to not have to change my rates to optimize for 66 tick anymore
  14. For anyone that really wants a detailed explaination on rates/choke/loss/net_graph this is the link for you: http://www.fishtankclan.com/e107_plugins/c....php?content.44 Choke has nothing to do with your comp performance (although I've heard, but cannot prove, if your FPS is low this can affect your choke rate), it's really a measure of how much information your computer is sending the server in relation to other players. If the server is a 100 tick, such as GC retro, you want to be as close to 100 as possible for your cmd and update rate. Why? well this means that your shots will register more, and more importantly, you will not appear to lag/jump to others on the server with their rates set correctly. For example, I was in a spray battle with Dadeo the other day (who has a great ping). I put a whole clip in him from 5 feet away and only 3 shots actually hit him. After I inevitably died, and I immediately checked his rates (type "ma_rates" in console), and saw he was set to update @ 30 and cmd @ 20 (default for CSS). In my mind, this means he's playing in a whole different dimesion than me, and really only pops into my realm every 2 seconds at which point I have a chance at hitting him. Now he isnt required to change his rates to apply for 100tick server, but it certainly would help his game if they were - and genuinely make things more enjoyable for the people playing with him. I encounter this issue all of the time on pub servers and tend to spray more when there is a large number of people with default rates playing. What really gets me is when people complain about registration on a great server like retro, and then you check their rates and they arent even setup to play on a 100 tick server... So let's say you actually go through the trouble of setting your rates to the recommended 100 and you still get choke or loss (Warpig you might want to try this). Try lowering your update rate to under 100, but leave your cmd rate at 100. Eventually, you find that sweet spot of 0 choke! For me, 95 updaterate seems to work well. Also, make sure you are changing your cl_interp rate to .01 or 0 (zero is auto). One more tip, choke will always jump at the beginning or a round, then slowly taper down to a consistant number. So dont base your choke average on what you see right at the beginning of the round. I hope some of this info actually helps some of those curious minds out there, and if you're wondering if it really makes a difference... IT DOES! You wont find any of the competitive CAL teams with default rates, and technically they can force you to change your rates to the server standard before a CAL match if they are incorrect.
  15. Why allow people to choose which side to join? Some of the servers I pub on have auto-assign as the only option, and that just omits those stacking accusations altogether.

    -=RP=-

If you scroll up in the thread you'll see that a couple of people were talking down about RP.. hence my statement directed at those comments. I didnt say I better than anyone because I was in CAL. By the way, telling someone not to talk down to others, when in the post my clan was talked down on, then making a statement like "75% of the players in our server are better players" to a post complaining about us being too potent on a server we arent even trying on ... oh well logic doesn't come easily to most.

    -=RP=-

Hello GC members, thought I should put in a word from the -=RP=- side of the fence since I'm a RP admin... First off, I've been playing on GC for over 2 years (you might have known me as -=RP=-Leaddog) and I know I've played with most all of you extensively. Originally, I played on GC as a break from playing with my clan, and as my friends followed me into your server, now my whole clan likes to play there as well. We like the atmosphere, the registration, the fact the server always has players on, and most of all the way your server is run in regards to the rules actually being enforced (we share almost the exact same rules on our pub, and I enjoy the break from having to worry about kicking and banning). We have 2 CAL teams and we have about 20 members in our clan, and a CS/COD4 pub server. Obviously, with 20 or so members, we have a few bad apples as well One thing I'd like to say is that most all of my clan members are good people and good friends. We are almost always hanging in vent when we are playing. For the most part, we try to respect other server rules when we are pubbing, but we all play competitively and enjoy the break from CAL and practice on your server. What I mean by this is that we come to your server to have fun and pwn some face in the process, not to play serious. But, as to be expected, when a server gets invaded by another clan on a regular basis, there is going to be tension. Obviously, we want to play on the same team as our clanmates because the main fun about CS is teamwork. I'll ask my guys to be mindful of stacking, but I dont think it's fair to pick on one group when you have hundreds of other clan-less players stacking at will. If it's that big of an issue, then perhaps adjusting the config to auto-only would be a good idea? Also, if any of my members are acting up or stacking, simply warn them or kick. Just be fair before you ban them for something, it's the right way to be. Please allow me to provide some constructive critisim: I've played on GC less recently because of the serious lack of teamwork that I get now, especially on offense. It used to be that someone would make calls, and most of the team would go along. Now, that is a rare occasion, and the offensive has wittled to everyone going somewhere and camping every round...sad but true. There were admins in the past that would slay and kick for such antics, but I havent seen that happen in many months. Also, you have a tremendous issue with people playing with default rates. You have a great 100 tick server, but I hear people complain about reg because you have a bunch of noobs who dont set their rates for 100 tick. These people lag, skip, and really drag down the game play, maybe someone could add a simple post about the correct rate setting for the server. Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to get alot out so I wont have to make multiple posts. Lastly, For those of you that think we suck, right back at ya n00bs. I'm willing to bet if I had you on my CAL team you'd be cut in one practice! All of you non-RP haters, stay cool and keep it real. CYA on the server and nice to finally meet you on the GC forums.
