  1. I managed to get in and see Fahrenheit 9/11 last night. I was surprised when I reached the first theater and was turned away at 5:30pm because the 7:20pm show was sold out. Not wanting to wait for the 10:20pm show, I opted for another theater. Luckily, the other theater wasn't sold out....yet. I bought my tickets when it was only 80% sold. It eventually sold out. At the end of this movie, the theater erupted in applause and somewhere between 1/3 and 1/2 the crowd was on their feet. As for the movie itself, I am amazed. After reading all the reviews, I went in expecting it to be kind of weak. It wasn't. I highly recommend seeing the film for yourself. A review or critique just won't give you enough information. It really has to be experienced.
  2. that totally depends on your view Az...and I see some holes in your thinking. Btw, I'm assuming you're implying man made the rules. if you believe in a god, a supreme being then do you think he really just "happened into the job"? If there is one god and he is the ruler of the cosmos and all of it (and he knows the answer is 42) then you gotta understand that he/she/it is the one who set down some guidelines. I'm of the view that there IS one god and he DID set down guidelines and he used men to tell other men those guidelines. And I find it very silly when people tell me that what I believe to be right and wrong is just rules made up by men before me so I shouldn't put any weight on them...and yet those same people implicitly trust their history books... Wow...thanks for pointing out the holes in my thinking. I don't know what I would ever do without you.
  3. In my very humble opinion, my god is all of those gods, because that god is the same god. I find it silly that we have religions that actually act as though they are correct and everyone else is wrong. We are all one. We all inhabit this small planet in space. What one does affects, however minutely, all of us. The afterlife is slowly being scientifically proven and we are all beginning to wake up to that little inner voice that has been speaking to us all along. Follow your inner guides and stop judging and worrying what others are doing.
  4. Wow, nice thread. Hi everyone. I never thought my Budda quote would stir such conversation. Anyway, since Playaa linked this in the polital forums where I usually am, I thought I'd come on over and participate. My feeling is that we, each and every last one of us, are a creation of God. As God's creations, we are also part of God, and therefore are endowed with access to our creator. That access comes from within. Many people use prayer (talking to God), meditation (listening to God), or other techniques (channeling, etc.) to communicate with our creator in order to obtain guidance in their lives. Granted, we are all different and so this is a highly variable and personal thing I am talking about which defies description. Whether you believe it is your conscience or divine inspiration, our wisdom comes from within and should be consulted when reading messages and thoughts of others. God can help us decide if what we are reading is right for us at this time or not. That is why I liked that quote and keep it in my signature.
  5. I think White Knight already said he'd do it, too.
  6. Sounds like there are enough of us to moderate. I think we can rely on Gond, White Knight, and Dweez to do an effective job of moderating, so they have my vote. Heck, I don't even mind if Soul wanted to moderate. I am sure he'd do a fine job, too. The only other alternative would be for us to take the conversations to another location, I guess...
  7. Gond, White, & Dweez for moderators
  8. Maybe I am misunderstanding the job of the moderator, but I don't think you have to verify every fact or story, Dweez. I thought the job a moderator was to ensure the debate stays on topic, generally proceeds in an orderly fashion, prevents the personal attacks upon each other and arbitrates in the case of a dispute. That's what makes your impartiality great for the job.
  9. Thank you Dweez, for your kind words. I feel I could do a find job at being a mod, but it really would be best if I don't. As you can see, a few people such as Soul would not take kindly to that and I think everyone should be free to enjoy the forums without that sort of animosity. I would agree that White Knight would be a good mod. He does know how to debate well is genuinely respectful of everyone. Heck, now that I think about it, Dweez would be a terrific mod! He is one of the more impartial participants in that area.
  10. Thx for the offer Knight....sadly, I live to far away...
  11. Actually....I miss the political forum. I check the mb daily and always head for the political forum only to remember it's gone.
  12. May as well shut them down....probably for the best.
