I'm thinking of purchasing the plus version of adware. It has real time blocking much like av but does spyware and cookies and things like that. I'm wondering if anyone uses this, is it worth it for 26 bucks? Auggy

zero you mentioned this show to me and I'm considering watching the dvd rental of the first season? I watch 24 and though 24 had a great start this season it's a bit unbelivable right now. so im considering this one

ok preach let me ask you this... are there background progs I can shut off to increase cpu resources. If so I need to know how. I'm soon going to build DAW (digital audio workstations) to sell but I'd like to turn off whatever (non needed) tasks are using cpu and are not being used. -

yea most hacks dont code their own soft. It's like people who use Excel profieciently but they call themselves programmers. I'll ask Wow thats cool, so what language is your specialty, Visual, C++, java... They say "HUH?" I program in EXCEL! I say "HUH?" everyones a programmer -

ok how bout that USER at work who swears he hacks! becuase he went on the internet or got some windows xp copy that does not require activation. Usually I'll ask do you know what low level programming is? Do you even edit the registry? Have you ever tweakes an IRQ? (then the final question) Do you know what PCI is? and they look with a puzzled eye...WHAT? I want to tell em "go to spider.de" and you can learn to hack from there. hahah ah ahahah ahaha from what I hear once you install anything from those guys THEY OWN THAT PC! haha ha hah ah ah ah ahaha kindly I don't do that but I'm so tempted. I need a good FTP prog
auggybendoggy replied to Fatty's topic in Tech Reviews, Support and PC Builds
fats, whatever you use if you find your ftp uploads to a point; meaning at a certian amount of data it stops. try a setting called passive. I had this prob with cuteftp recently and I found that after about 100 files uploaded it just quit and started over. So somone advised me to turn it on passive and it solved my prob. Aug -
If I run win-doc it tells me theres a bunch of registry errors. should I let it fix em. I hesitate cause one time I built a brand new system and from just installing windows I ran it and it told me there were like 4 reg errors any advice on this? Aug

from my understanding sp2 fixed a bug that checked for id's of cpu and mb and other componenets. If win works correctly and finds you have activated on a machine prior then it will not let you. However like batman said theres software to go around it anyhow. My friend at works has a program or the same program as batman

Has anyone used a Thawte cert. I installed one but when I apply the encryption is says the person I am sending it to does not have a cert. What do I have to do to make the other end readable? It's much like PGP but it seems a bit easier. I think I have to export a cert and then instruct the recepient to install the cert and then we can email back and forth. If anyone knows anything please share. Sinc, auggy

the housecall is scanning now but my fatherinlaw stopped it so i had to restart it. as for the removal page from symantec i tried it all but it cant detect the infected files wqr(xx).ani so removal is imposs i cant locate this file either. some forums suggest it's already piggy backed on other exe's. Aug ill let you knwo what housecalls does. -

ok guys i got nothign from either NAV or the link to techworld or what ever it was called. So no trace of it is found. I feel a bit uneasy having a web store and stuff like that. I think I outta wipe and reinstall. The good news is I have a 20g partition that with an image of this main partition to just rebuild MOST of it in about 10 minutes. No installing cause it's already done. But I'll lose some stuff and I'll have to reinstall a few things What do you guys think? Aug -
Guys, I was checking my norton spam email to make sure there were no good emails and i clicked on one cause it looked legit and as soon as I did Norton popped up and said "Virus detected: cannot delete". The window would not go away so I clicked back on outlook and selected all and delted and then the norton alert said a diff file name by a series of numbers... what I mean is it said the first time wqr(12).ani then i licked ok then the window came back immediatley saying wqr(13).ani and it did this for about 5-6 times then it stopped. I went to symantecs sight and it said if 2005 cannot delete the moo file it's probably because windows was using it. Makes sesne since I was using the email and the location of the file was C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\Y9HA3ULW\wqr[12].ani Click for more information about this threat : Trojan.Moo its in the temp internet folder so it may have come from the spam. but i never told it to quarantine or delete anything so I'm afraid it's still present. I did a system scan and NOTHIN! I searched the foler listed above y98... and the wqr files are not there. Am I safe or should I WIPE!!!! help Auggy

An important question or two.
auggybendoggy replied to a topic in Tech Reviews, Support and PC Builds
zero, I am now servicing comps and I just did a job for about 100 dollars to install firewall and update all virus. Too bad she was already infected with about 7 viruses and about 4 trojans. so we formatted and reinstalled costed her about 400 overall. its a HUGE business since most people dont want to learn it. bandit, as a musician I use these guys all the time and they are totally good. the've taken one return no questions asked and they're very freindly. I recommend them highly. id sell it to you thru my co. but I don't even know if I can become a dist. so I'd order thru j&r. I usually buy music studio software from these guys and I always get it. I see it's out of stock but they won't jerk you around so. I can't seem to find it in stock anywhere Auggy http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.process?Product=3671121
