Certainly worth checking out. There are a couple debug commands you can use when playing or just walking through your map after compiling to see how it broke out the vis leafs. I don't recall if adding the hints made a big difference on compile times or not with mine unfortunately. It did help performance playing though. There are some good videos and guides out there too to help explain where they will help.
In the mean time I'll see if I can't attach my map to this post if someone can upload it to the server(s) for me?
-
Ice _B do you mess with the hint brushes any?
I did in the hallway intersections and around the entrances to the rooms. This actually led to me positioning the doors of the break room the way I did because of what I saw the engine doing. Helped to reduce what the game engine was drawing at times and I without them I found at specific points it would try to draw both bombsites which was bad.

Some of you may remember I made a couple maps back in the CS Source days. A little while ago I got the urge to begin working on a new map for CS GO.
Below is the result of my efforts. I've play tested it some with bots and a few friends, would love to give it a run on custom map night sometime soon, maybe this coming weekend.
Here are a few preview pics for teasers
CT Spawn
Starting out at the security checkpoint for visitors, odd there aren't any guards around...
T Spawn
Something bad happened here, emergency lights and the caved in door might be a clue...
I guess we're going in the back way
One of the main encounter points, can you figure out what will happen?
For the times when you just need a moment to relax
Bombsite A
So we're blowing up a loading dock? Wait, whats in that tank...
Bombsite B
So this is where the toxic chemicals get treated and made "safe" for everyone...

Now I'm getting tempted to pick up the game. Can't argue with the price
DO IT!
ps, how's life?
Dude, don't be insensitive, he's melting.
Hey Stutters and Mo,
Been good, haven't been getting much time to play much of anything lately but tyring to sneak in a little gaming here and there.
I picked up CS:GO so I'll swing into the server sometime here.
Its definatley different, but I think closer to CS:Source than CS:Source was to 1.6. Much easier to adjust to GO now
Be interesting to see what kinds of maps and mods ppl come up with for this.

I'll probably pick it up. Be interesting to see what they change when they release it. I wouldn't read too much into beta testing they'll be tweaking and changing things for awhlie and I wouldn't be surprised to see that Maps will be one of those things that aren't quite done yet (thats why they call it beta testing).
Oh, and Hey from the alumni section

Thanks FK. I read through your other post, lot of nice features and touches. I like the tags, a nice way to see how different people participate in the community. Gonna take a little getting used to the new look but change isn't bad.

New forums look good FK, nice job!
I did notice one thing, when I first opened this post a couple minutes ago I couldn't reply (acted like it was locked). Please disregard if this was actually locked for a awhile.

An Ice_Berge snuck in.
Hey everyone. Been awhile since I stopped by but wanted to say hey. Had fun playing some CS on Retro today and it was good to see so many familiar names.
Anyways, hope everyone has a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

It had been awhile since I played CSS, but i can remember playing CS with wayfarer many many times.
It was quite a shock to hear of his passing. I never had a chance to meet him in person, but that doesn't lessen the loss.
Rest in peace buddy, we'll all see you again some day.
-
Congrats and I hope everything goes well.
-
I'm not quite sure what to say other than my thoughts and prayers are with you, your kids and family.

Lol,
Thanks demonic. I'll still be dropping by occasionally, and thanks to the board and everyone for making me a perm gc, I really didn't know what to say but that is pretty cool. Actually I might be dropping in tonight depending on what's going on.

Happy belated BDay Dragonfire!!
-
Thanks guys, I'll definitely drop by from time to time. Just the time came that I couldn't be supporting Mapnights and the community regularly and felt the time was right for me to step aside.
That said, I have plenty of reasons to still swing by occasionally and pull off a few headshots .

Hey Guys,
I've been thinking about this for quite awhile. I have really enjoyed my time here with GC and especially with hosting Saturday Night Customs. It's hard to believe that nearly 5 years have passed since I start playing CS in the GC community and 4 years since I became a member. A lot has happened in that time, I went from being a member, to an admin, to Lead Admin of the Dallas server for a time. Then Project Mayhem, and eventually becoming a host for Saturday Night Customs. Later a lead admin on to the Stock CSS server when Mayhem closed and now the new Scopeless server. I have also hosted several Open Scope Slaughters and other events.
Unfortunately I'm not able to put as much time into the game, the server or helping the community as I used to. This includes Mapnight where I have not been able to spend the time I used to finding and checking out new maps for us to play each weekend. Also work, life and other games have begun taking more and more time. These combined with other reasons have led me to the decision to step down as an admin in the GC servers and to pass on Saturday Night Customs to another.
This was a bit of a tough decision for me to make, but I feel the time has come for me to move on. I will still be dropping by occasionally to play CSS though.
Fortunately Saturday Night Customs will be continuing on. Shaftiel is taking over mapnight and will be keeping things going with new maps! I hope you guys can give him the support you have given me over the years and continue to help make Mapnight a great time for everyone. I sure he'll do a great job.
My GC membership is at the end of the yearly renewal so I plan to just step down to a guest. I'll still drop by occasionally and be on the forums from time to time, but with less frequency.
I'd like to say Thank You to everyone that has helped me over the years and that it has been a blast. So many people have helped that I couldn't name everyone, but I would especially like to thank M2, Shep, Shazz, Clueless, Mookie, Anonymo, Stutters, Mr. Duke and Fatty. You guys have always helped me when I needed it and been a great part of this community.
I hope you all have enjoyed my being a part of GC as much as I enjoyed being a part of it.
Best Regards,
IceBerge (Kris)

If there are some specific ones from Mapnights let me know and I can also add them. We do have 6 new maps for tonight's mapnight as a side note.
-
Yeah, but the map itself isn't actually that big, the author put a video file in the archive to demo the map with. Although all of these look pretty interesting, definitely worth downloading ahead of time.
-
You may want to download ahead of time, we have some good looking maps for tonight:
