I ended up getting my parents a Seagate Free Agent Pro 500 GB (deal at best buy). It's working good for them, and the backup software was easy to setup.
-
Vegas seemed to go pretty well, looks like we don't need the lite version, I didn't hear anyone having issues with performance on it
-
Before you ask, yes I know internal would be better quality, unfortunately my laptop is better setup for this and I do not want to put video capture in this desktop that I currently use. Maybe after I build a new comp then I would...
Has anyone used any external capture cards with a laptop or desktop that has decent quality and worked well? I do not have HD TV so that isn't necessarily a requirement but would be nice. I've debated getting one of these there seems to be more out there now.

Thanks snowblind. They actually just released a final version of cs_office2008 as cs_office2008Pro that I was looking at for tonight's mapnight. I think we'll give it a go.
For de_aztec_extended, we've actually played that map before about a year ago or so.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I should have download links up shortly, I'm still sorting through the maps that people released over the past 2 weeks, including one of our own.

Very nice

I'm curious, have you guys ever used 2001 Car polish or Armor All car polish for exteriors? I've used them for several years with good results, wondering how they compare to the other products you guys mentioned

Was in Best Buy yesterday (Sunday the 24th) and noticed they had this keyboard on Sale for $39.99. This was cheaper than I've seen it anywhere else, including Newegg.com right now.
I bought 2 of these, (one for parents PC), and so far definitely liking it. The stand is a little wierd looking but really not hard at all to get used to. It really does make it more comfortable since it keeps your wrists straight instead of bent up. Also helps if your desk has a lip or raised edge on it like mine.
So far definitely recommending it. One note, you do have to install the SW before hooking it up, at least accodring to the instructions. I didn't try it without. Based on past experience some of the extra buttons probably won't work if you don't.

I think I'm gonna check this out too. Been looking for something I can use to image my lappy and possible desktop.
-
Ice Berge, this isn't a wireless keyboard. So the only "problems" would be those of comfort.
I realize that Playaa, what I meant was that most of Microsoft's Ergo's are wireless these days. I've been debating one of those or just getting the wired (this one).
-
I've been thinking about replacing my old natural multimedia with something new, considering I've had it for oh 6 or 7 years...
I've been debating getting one of the new ones Microsoft has. Have you used it for CSS or any other FPS? One of the reasons I've held off making my decision is I don't wanna get something that will be problematic (such as some wireless models).
-
So I guess I really do have the largest folder probably
-
I'll check both out. A bit more capacity that I need but i figured I wouldn't be able to get very small.
I'd like to setup some sort of automatic backup prog that would periodically backup their "my documents' folder to the ext hd.
-
Now that I've got my parents new system built I'm planning to put an external HD with it for backup purposes. I haven't used these so I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for these?
Needs to be USB 2.0 otherwise 50GB or more is good enough for storage space.
-
The components have all arrived and I've got the system built. Setting up the OS and software now:
For those interested here's the final specs:
2 GB Crucial Ballistix DDR2 8500
Seagate Barracuda 250GB SATA 3.0
Thermaltake 430 Watt Power Supply
XP Pro SP2c
I was a little disappointed with the case, documentation didn't really cover much (and in some cases things didn't quite match, such as the colors for certain wires). However, things were easy to setup and get put together so we will see how it goes.
Edit: Forums messed up the text and put everything on 1 line so I refixed it

I didn't see what Windows OS you're going to have on there, but if you're getting Vista make sure to get 2 Gig's of RAM. Ram is dirt cheap right now so that shouldn't raise the price much at all.
For the record I have a e1505 Inspiron with Vista Home Premium, bout a year and 1 month old and working great.
