    UT3 Demo?

    Anyone read/heard anything about a possible date for demo release?

     

    I was on the other afternoon and some clan guys were saying SofaKing had gotten ahold of a copy. That is game chat so take it with a grain of salt.

     

    My guess is still mid October.

    Not sure if I like the new combos. Right now if a shock combo doesn't kill you, it just bounces you off and you can still fire back while you are flying away. With this new implosion-style, what if it doesn't kill you? Do you still get pulled into the middle?

     

    Also in UT2k4, high skill shocka players can do a combo and sometimes hit you while you fly away. With the new style if it always pulls your enemy in to the middle of the implosion, then all you have to do is spam the middle of it with rox, link, bio, or whatever to finish them off.

     

    Where's the demo already so I can stop thinking about stuff like this!?!??! :unsure:

    Just thought of something. Look how big the weapons are in 1st person view. I hope they have small weaps. Also all that detail + weapon animation looks great but I am wondering how much FPS boost you would get by doing hidden weapons. :)

     

    On a separate note, noobs will always be a problem in a teamwork setting like Warfare but I am wondering if you see any other potential problems on the horizon with what we have seen so far. Here is my quick list...

    1) Noob Orb Run as Flitterkill mentioned

    2) Moving turrets - "Hey ma, look at me going back & forth and missing everything."

    3) Hoverboard tricks - "Wow I can do all the moves I wasn't able to pull off in Tony Hawk. SWEET!!!"

    4) Noobs on mantas was always a problem. With the hoverboard any hit knocks you off, so does friendly fire knock you off? If so, then I would need a make sure I binds for "teamsay 'Knocking teammates off hoverboards is a bad! First Warning" and "kick UT3Noob".

    5) Misusing Slow Volume - "Wow look how slow I'm moving!!! This Rox my Sox!"

    It says November, so fingers crossed for demo relatively soon. :boing:

     

    Trailer highlight is about 1:03 mark when the player ejects out of the scorp before it dies and then attacks from mid-air. You might have to slow it down to see but that is gonna be sweet!!!

    Laptop Battery for Inspiron 9300

    I'd suggest batteries.com as well. Got a battery last summer for an aging Inspiron 8000 at a decent price. Looks like a few bucks more than the site you listed, but they're new batteries without the song and dance of ebay.

     

    Batteries.com is solid. I've used their brand of UPS replacement batteries twice with no issues. Usually they usually offer a battery.com brand for a few bucks cheaper than OEM.

    RUFF!!! Long time man!

     

    Main causes:

    1) Background programs? Make sure you close down all your background programs you may have running.

     

    2) If you haven't changed your configs in a long time and things have just started slowing down then possible culprit is the cache. Easiest way to fix is to download UT Cache Extractor from here (halfway down). Then unzip that and just run the .exe file (make sure UT2004 isn't running). It will look for your UT2004 folder. Then on the Cache Tab just click the Validate button. That will remove all the bad entries in your cache. Close out the program and run UT2004. See if that helps.

     

    Another helpful thing you can do with the cache extractor is move maps from your cache to your Map folder so you don't have to keep downloading them all the time. On the cache tab, select your favorite map in the list and click Extract. It will move the necessary files so you never have to download DM-CustomLeetSnipeIntstaNoNubs-LE-ver3.7 ever again. :)

    I have Comcast too HW, how can this help me?

     

    I got Comcast Gamer's Invasion package or something like that when I signed up. Gave me an upgraded connection & also free lifetime subscriptions to IGN, fileplanet, & some other gaming sites. The main perk is the upgraded speed but the subscriptions come in handy because you get to download from the fast servers on those websites.

     

    Oh yeah, I had to ask for my subscription to be activated. I don't know if you have to pay for it normally though. I do know that the upgraded speed isn't available to all comcast because my brother couldn't get it.

    Hey MadPat, if you haven't fixed your UTComp mymenu problem then do this.

     

    In your User.ini file look in the [Engine.Input] section and find the line that starts with F5= and change it to this.

    F5=mymenu

     

    That will make your F5 key bring up the UTComp menu. Then you could set a key on your Nostromo to F5 or a button on your Mouse to F5.

    also I noticed that the DVR (I believe it is called the R15) has a USB port on the back...anyone know if this is useable?

     

    Port availability depends on your DVR model & firmware version. Google is your friend.

     

    BTW, copying from your own backed up copy is not pirating. Under fair use, FCC mandates DVR companies allow for the offloading of a non-protected recorded shows (broadcast channels like CBS & NBC). Unfortunately the FCC doesn't enforce the ruling so some DVR companies don't enable the functionality.
