  1. Yeah - that rack at the server center has got to be having some power probs Ticket in - actually - nevermind, back up 6pm -Fk
  2. Ahhh - thx - missed that one - changed in-game logo but not server name. -Fk
  3. Yep - down most of the afternoon - I'm tooling around in Temerity now Yep again - we are both with Viper and we are both on the same physical hardware as well I beleive - they down=we down and vice versa Note in to Tom hours ago -Fk
  4. Did you ever install the ECE bonus pack? Not sure we are redirecting that on the speedy redirect server let me look - hang on -Fk Yeah - that's bonus pack stuff Get the mega bonus pack - install that http://downloads.unrealtournament.com/ut20...004MegaPack.exe Then - very important - get the 3369 patch (the link says ut2003 - ignore that - its the real thing) - then install that next http://downloads.unrealtournament.com/ut20...inPatch3369.exe You'll be all good -Fk
  5. So Epic just concluded a large viral marketing campaign, with xbox live members being spammed cryptic Gears-related messages from in-game characters leading to a big announcement. The end result? Slightly to heavily angered mobs of GOW fans who spent time trying to decode the damn thing. An Xbox live demo for Gears released in a few weeks? That'd be a big announcement. Nah - just the release date of November - which - for the most part - everyone already knew. Oh - and that the game will retail for a substantial chunk of change ($60 to $70 I guess) So - happy campers there (Note to Epic: a viral marketing campaign that leads to the announcement of the release date that most people had already more or less known about is perhaps not the best use of a viral marketing campaign...) Why post this nonsense here? Well, consider: would Epic want to launch what they would hope to be a major new franchise at around the same time that they launch the heavily awaited next UT incarnation? Yeah - probably not. They aren't even releasing a demo for GOW at all - they are busting posterior on GOW right now to make the November launch - I imagine this is taking away from UT2K7 as well. For UT2K7 they may be banking on piggybacking on the consumer release of Vista as well (ride that Redmond marketing wave!) - What? - it's supposed to be out in January? You sure... http://www.engadget.com/2006/07/28/microso...-vista-release/ Are any of you kids have/getting an Xbox360? Just curious -Fk
  6. Confirmed: No Unreal Tournament 2007 till 2007 Midway says the PC edition of its much-awaited shooter won't ship until "first half" of next year; PS3 version still TBA, more Xbox 360 hints dropped. http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/unrealto...tml?sid=6154971 -Fk
  7. In all liklihood, like the CS to CS:Source switch GC did, this will be an "all in" flip - in other words - yes. Private server can stay of course for as long as we decide to pay for it (that is being handled by just us UT players - not GC dues) Good chance that once the demo drops for UT2K7, we may just go with that immediately too (as in, drop the pub, go with the demo, then to the full release) 18 it is by the way - justified by the following link http://ut2004stats.epicgames.com/typematch...server=15651003 (Note about those numbers - they list the total number of people who played on the map for any period of time - if it is over 20, that does not necessarily mean it was a full server...) Naturally - if demand grows, we can as well - this may just be a dog-days of July/August thing (I recall we went through the same last year...) -Fk
  8. Additionally - it is truly getting sad out there Slaughter's Place (the joint that tried to pick up the slack after Cain's Lair closed) is itself closing in early August. That and KU is gone daddy gone... http://www.kuclan.org/board/viewtopic.php?t=264&highlight= -Fk
  9. Well, the idea here is that once again, I look at the server and the numbers are...how to put this...not inspiring... How often do we even fill up to 20? -Fk
  10. Epic has duped about the entire last year's worth of the Atari UT2004 forums and set them up on Epic's own site. Most of the cool people are just going there now. Whether or not the forums are both linked and posts update on both forums simultaneously I got no idea but figure most of the hardcore types will just hang at Epic now (esp. since Atari really no longer has an iron in this UT pot anymore with Midway having the publishing rights to UT2007) http://gearsforums.epicgames.com/forumdisplay.php?f=249 Yes - that says gearsforums - no matter - these are the UT2004 forums -Fk EDIT: Ahh - threads pulled over, accounts maybe/maybe not - you may need to re-register.
  11. We still have a few more months to go before UT2007 so... Needs to be discussed. -Fk
  12. http://www.gamespot.com/news/6154708.html A mere 59,000... What's even scarier is how little that number is compared to the actual number of players. -Fk
  13. Weird - sometime between my last post and this one the whole routing thing has changed from where I am at - three more hops than last night - and now 200 - 300k / sec speeds. Very odd. Give this another poke maybe next week and then call it closed I guess. Thx folks -Fk
  14. For what it is worth, this is what runs in the upper left corner of a player's screen for 5 to 8 seconds upon joining our UT server (players immediately join the action so plastering the entire screen with a message is kinda bad) - had these guys running for over a year now Naturally, these are screened so wherever you see grey, that is all invisible and the game is playing underneath (bluescreen effect stuff) Of course, as needed for special events they get changed. Those CS ones ya got whipped up look tres' cool - nice job! -Fk
  15. Remarkable - I'm still getting 10 to 14k - and I'm still terrified that others are as well... Keep'em coming -Fk
  16. Go here with the web browser of your choice (no Wentz - you cannot use lynx..) ih.gamerscoalition.com Browse to the ut compressed stuff - pick a map and right click - save as How fast? Post up. 3.5 to 4 meg files take me 7+ minutes to dl (as opposed to our now-temp fixed redirect server where it takes about 10 seconds) That's in the 5 to 10k range. -Fk
  17. Yeah - embedded turrets in a new cave just next to the raptor nodes - only good for covering the manta nodes next in line. Lightning replaces sniper. Prob some other stuff... Redirects are now *FIXED* and by fixed, I mean in a new place and they work nice and stuff - we may move back once we figure what the deal is with the other redirect server but til then - it's all good. -Fk
  18. Chainsisle2 is now final - and loaded up. Not entirely sure what got tweaked - I know there is a turret in there somewhere... Redirects is related to this announcement in that..well.. they blow right now. This may have something to do with the low server #'s the last few weeks as well. Anything coming off of ih.gamerscoalition.com is just chunky - as in 5 to 10k chunky - as in no different then dl'ing the maps from the ut server uncompressed and limited to 10000 netspeed. Ticket in - this *HAS* to be fixed - if anything - I'll switch us back to a tried and true solution later this afternoon if it is not solved by then. Can always go back once it gets solved. If it is Thursday afternoon/evening and I have not made another post here saying everything is fine I *HIGHLY* recommend you get the map manually from the links posted in this thread http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=528892 -Fk
  19. I'm crazy from all the deals - why the hell not! Out. But, it is soooo warm here now - gotta keep cool. Frostbite in. Maybe Flurry later... -Fk
  20. 1) Bots to 8 Why not? Been awhile - might perk up numbers... (Note that SCK is at min players 10 (12?)) 2) Alt nodes gone for now. Here's the thing. Numbers have been low the last two weeks. In the server browser, if you have a non-std link setup, the map gets an asterisk after the map name. We still show as a std. server though but still... hmmm. Also, on our GC homepage, the asterisk completely throws off the thumbnail map image (and I have no idea how to get around that problem seeing as an asterisk in a file name is usually asking for trouble - not sure I even want to as Bubblegum how to code for that one) So - yeah - out for now. 3) Threw in Scorched, pulled Red Planet. -Fk
  21. I remember way...... back in 1992(?) I had a Logitrch mouse button die on me (plastic bit under the button that made contact with the circuit board broke off) No receipt, no warrantee reg, I just called the 800 number, they told me to send it and the replacement was already on the way. (!!!) Not bad for 1992 -Fk
