nice find shep. might have to score one of these myself, i've got a lot of free-dead time on my hands, too.

so is the extra 256mb of ram and the diff processor (amd 2900) worth $70? is that processor better? any info would be greatly appreciated... looking for something in this price range, for web surfing only, no gaming

i don't think it's worth the extra $70, imho.

 

1. i'm jaded and tainted on abit boards--had really, really bad experiences.

2. pc2100 266mhz ddr is about $30 for a 512mb upgrade, giving you 768...more than enough for web surfing/email/aim/hlsw

 

but, neither offer onboard video. for a web station, i don't need more than what onboard can offer. i'm going to look for something along those lines....once my boss stops hovering over my cube.

Sempron have shalf the L2 cache that the XPs do and it's also a little faster.

 

The ram is also better DDR 3200 instead of DDR 2100.

 

The case is also better 500 watt Power supply instead of a 400. Has better cooling ability with the side fan.

 

The motherboard has more room for RAM (4 slots instead of 3) and it's a better brand.
