Hors January 19, 2007 Share Hors Member January 19, 2007 (edited) Hello all I don't normally post outside of the GO forums but I thought I'd venture out and see if I couldn't drum up some interest in Armed Assault. Armed Assault, or ArmA, is a tactical FPS developed by Bohemia Interactive. ArmA simulates large scale tactical battles in a massive environment using realistic weapons and vehicles. Recently, BIS released a multiplayer demo which supports 3 game modes, up to 64 players and a dedicated server. Traditional flare like Capture the Flag and Coop modes are available along with a game mode called Capture the Island. CtI takes place all over the demo island where 64+ players in 2 teams attempt to capture points scattered about the island using teamwork, squads of ai and/or players, and an assortment of vehicles. First team to capture all the points, which are held by an aggressive faction towards both teams, wins the match. If you'd like to learn more about ArmA or download the demo, you can visit the official site I posted below. I'll add more links and information to the OP as I gather more info.... and time. If anyones interested in gathering for a mp session in the demo, we can organize here and plan a time and place to have a game. Title: Armed Assault Developer: Bohemia Interactive Genre: First Person Tactical Shooter Features: Massive Environment (400sq km), Large Scale Multiplayer (100+players), 30+ weapons, 30+ multi-manned vehicles, multiple game modes, extensive game editor Requirements: * 2 GHz or better Intel or AMD processor * 512 MB of memory. * nVidia Geforce FX with 128 MB RAM & Pixel Shader 2.0 or better * ATI Radeon 9500 with 128 MB of RAM & Pixel Shader 2.0 or better * 3 GB of Disk space (or more as needed for downloadable add-ons) * Windows 2000 or Windows XP. * DirectX 9.0c Links: Armed Assault Home, ArmA Gallery Edited January 19, 2007 by Hors
VooDooPC January 20, 2007 Share VooDooPC Member January 20, 2007 I hear this is one of those games where it's better to not play at all if you can't play with people you know.
Wolfsblood January 21, 2007 Share Wolfsblood Member January 21, 2007 Perhaps, but that's probably true of most team based multiplayers games. In my (limited so far) experience with the ArmA mp demo, I had no troubles with anyone in the games I hosted. If the game does expand on the greatness that was (and is) Operation Flashpoint and it's expansions, I'm, sure it'll be a worthy addition to the game collection of anyone who likes the challange of squad based tactial shooters. Also, unlike the BF series, the game is far more mission based, and much less camping a flagpole for "tickets", whatever those things are supposed to be. See.. it's like skeeball. You get so many tickets, then you can cash em in for a small plushie of EA executives. Seriously, multiplayer-centric games hinge heavily on who you're playing with. You could be playing the most awesomess game ever, but if you're not playing with the right people it'll seem like its the most craptastic game ever.
