Anyone ever taken a car to the drag strip? Out here I've got the Los Angeles County Raceway, and I took my car there for my B-day.

Best time 17.1, but lost the timeslip so I don't know the mph

Other times:

17.4@79.3 mph

17.7@77.8 mph

18.6@81.5 mph

Best reaction time = 0.548

Had a redlight @ .478 as well....... so close to a great launch :D

The times are actually about .5 - .75 seconds off, due to the altitude of the track (so, in theory, my fastest time is probably somewhere around 16.5 or so). And yes, my car is rather slow, being a detuned 400 cid motor on a boat that weighs over 2 tons :)

Old rusty Coronet's should not be underestimated, as many are powered by 440's :)

A stock 440 built between 67 and 71 probably is producing somewhere around 300 HP and 425 lbs of torque B)

Also, the 18 second time wasn't mine... I let a friend drive it for a run. He mashed the gas a bit hard and spun the tires too much, hence the bad time o0o

Also, what rear end was in the Coronet? That'll have a gigantic effect on 1/4 times... I've got a 2.91 currently... decent for highway, terrible for track.

Didn't think about altitude! 16's arent bad at all.

His coronet was the smaller engine not a 440. But it was quick.

So would I goot. I was behind some chick in a fully restored 73 Camaro! Beauty of a car and girl. Black with red stripes! (the car, not the girl  )
