bing cashback and my new HTPC

So I've been wanting to build an HTPC for a while now. Then I somehow manage to find bing cashback offers 20% for a store called superbiiz. I've never heard of superbiiz, but I was surprised with out low their prices are. In most cases, all were lower than what newegg offered, plus I will hopefully get 20% cashback by using bing. Bing also offers 6% cb with newegg

Zotac Mini-itx w/ Nvidia 9300 gpu & HDMI out - $135.99 w/cb 108.79 - Mail in rebate $20 = $88.79

Dual Core Celeron E1500 - $43.50 w/cb = $34.80

Asus TV tuner - $80.99 w/cb $60.79 - Mail in rebate $30 = $30.79

ordered from newegg:

APEX MI-008 w/ 250W Power Supply $39.99 w/cb = $37.59

OCZ DDR 1006 2x2GB - $9.99 w/cb = $46.99

total shipping charges = 27.41

If I get my rebates and my cashback awards this baby will have only cost $266.37

I could have gone cheaper on the RAM, but I'm putting this memory in my rig and my current ram in the HTPC. I also already have a 1TB data drive for the beast.

Think this thing will be able to push HD movies? I'm planning on putting boxee on first. Unless you guys have any better suggestions. I was also thinking this thing "might" be able to play some light games and emulators and maybe pick up a 360 controller for windows.

Superbiiz used to be ewiz. Dunno why the name change, happened 6-12mo ago.

Them DC Celerons overclock like a typical C2D also. My kids have a E1200 @ 2.8 with stock fan, kinda pokey at default 1.6 clocks. Great bang for your buck CPUs.

well I remembered why I always order from newegg.

Parts arriving from newegg tomorrow. Parts arriving from superbiiz next Wednesday. Bah...

Yeah newegg rocks in that department, I always get my stuff from them in 2 days.

Yeah I'd like to make a HTPC mainly to watch instant Netflix on the big screen.

Newegg's return policy is also one of the reasons I shop there. Quick and painless.

100% agree! those guys are awesome, they'll accept pretty much anything for return or exchange, whatever it may be.

  • 3 weeks later...

Been using this for a few weeks now and it's perfect. I picked up an ATI Remote Wonder II. I should have never bought that TV tuner because I never use it. Got about 100 movies or so. Only thing is that I wish I had went with a smaller case and a fanless psu.
