Fellas I just wanna say that if you are thinking about upgrading an old XP processor or wanna get in on some cheap fun overclocking then get the Mobile Athlon XP. I dont think it really matters if you get the 2400+, 2500+, or 2600+ but get one and try it if you have the money.

100 bucks and it can overclock to 2.2Ghz pretty much everytime. Can go as high as 2.7Ghz with expensive cooling.

The multipliers are unlocked and most of the time the chips dont require a lot of voltage. This means you dont have to have expensive ram to overclock. You can just up the multi with the right mobo(one with an N-Force 2 Chipset)

I own a 2500+ Mobile and love it so far. Havent started overclocking yet becuase i wanna make sure everything is stable for a couple of days, but i think it'll all work out.

Here are some articles to refer to. If you want to know how to overclock in general then these links should help with that too:

"It's naive to assume that just because our sample hit close to 2.4GHz every XP-M Barton 2500+ will. Yet we feel confident in stating that most should exceed Barton XP3200+ levels if given enough voltage.Thinking about value for money for a second or two, £150 is enough to purchase a decent nForce2 Ultra 400 motherboard and an mobile Barton XP2500+. That's less than the price of an Athlon 64 Model 3000+, notwithstanding its excellent performance. Readers who already own a decent S462 board with, say, a slower processor should, we feel, explore this avenue before jumping ship to either the Athlon 64 or Pentium 4 camps. The low-voltage nature of the CPU can also be used to power an ultra-quiet system, should the user be so inclined.

The results speak for themselves. High performance doesn't necessarily have to be limited to the Athlon 64 or top-end Pentium 4 CPUs. What's more, it can be achieved with a £70 CPU. "

12.5 x 196 = 2453 @ 1.825Volts

Case 117F CPU 145F (Room temp around 80F)

Seems stable, but only time will tell.

All in a box 1/4 the size of a mid tower with only 1 80mm fan.

If I wanted to crank this thing out id swap it out with my 3000+ in my tower(only hits 2433 stable), but I'm happy as is.

May try the 9800Xt in the lil' box later.

But the 2500+ Mobile is sweet.

I'd order another if I had the money.

Come to think of it I dont know which is more impressive. The SFF Shuttle or the 2450Mhz 100 dollar processor.

Thx.

I backed it down to an overall Clock of 2400Mhz for now(this room is way too hot) because I had it lock on me earlier. I thought I killed something because I came in my room and the thing was shut off, and smelled something burning. Thought "wow thats the first time ive smelled burnt AMD silicon". Left in disgust. Came back later and tried turning it on(wouldnt turn on before) and it worked like a champ.

Good thing is it's at 2400Mhz now and i can run it @ 1.7Volts stable(so far).

The 3000+ i have wouldnt run 2400Mhz @ 1.7Volts in it's dreams.

Well.

You will be adding more cache with the Barton core and maybe 100mhz or so.

But I dont think it would be that much of an upgrade.

You would prolly be able to run the mobile at lower voltages though.
