  1. The '90s were definatly all about the flight sims. And I loved them Falcon 3.0 Microsoft Flight Sim 98 Fleet Defender and of course, Sim City 2000 Wolfenstien 3D
  2. A hilarious and fun adventure game released a year or so ago by LucasArts is "Armed and Dangerous." Might give it a try. It's more of a 3rd person shooter than an adventure game, but it does retain some of the trademark LucasArts adventure stuff that Grim Fandango had in it. Besides that, it's the single funniest game I have ever played.
  3. I just bought Neverwinter Nights Gold. I'm patching it now, and should be playing momentarily. I know a few of you (Playaa) have NWN, so if anyone wants to start playing again, even just for a day, post up.
  4. Check out this article posted on www.betawatcher.com: WoW Stress test impressions if you're trying to decide whether to get WoW or not. (like me )
  5. not sure yet on PvP in EQII. Officially, there is NO PvP in EQII, however, I believe that is no "true" PvP, as in, you can't just fight players for the hell of it. I think there WILL be consentual duels, guild wars, and possibly another form, but as far as a PvP server where you can run around killing anyone, there won't be one at launch, possibly not at all.
  6. Tell me a little about the way PvP works in World of Warcraft. Are there specific PvP areas? Can any level attack any other level? What looting is involved with PvP? Are guild-wars supported? Is PvP restricted to Alliance vs Horde, or can you attack anyone? Any other info on PvP would be helpful in my quest to decide which game to go for, thanks.
  7. lol, I couldn't play like that All Kill3r. I like the quests too, I HAVE to roam around, see the world. MMORPGs have huge worlds, the fun for me is to try to cover every inch of it. I can't stay camped in one place for more than an hour or two. Not more than 20 minutes if I'm soloing. IF I decide to pick up WoW instead of EQII, I'll be going Horde. In case you're wondering.
  8. So I'm still trying to decide which to go for. EQII's graphics are much prettier than WoW graphics, though both look good. WoW sports PvP as an integral part of the storyline, whereas EQII is all PvE for now. So really, I want to know from those who have played the beta and stress test, how good is WoW really? I know all MMORPGs are great fun for awhile. But really how good (and how fun) is it? Is it the same as any other MMORPG besides the Warcraft story to give it a distinct setting? The PvP is really the only thing that's keeping me from going all EQII right now.
  9. will do. as for the reason I've been innactive lately...I got sucked into a MMORPG. And no, I don't believe I was the one who wanted BF:V on there, though I have mentioned possibly adding a BF:V server. Unless we get a lot more people in the community playing it, hosting our own server won't be profitable for us. ET, on the other hand, is free for anyone to download, thus removing any excuse anyone has to not try it out.
  10. hmm, too bad I can't upgrade to SP2 because I can't find an activation crack that works with it.
  11. Athlon 64 3000+ is what I currently have. It's running on an ASRock K8S8X motherboard with the included heatsink/fan and only one case fan. I also have a gig of A-Data PC-3200 RAM and a Sapphire 9800 Pro 128mb graphics card. I'm loving it, runs great. I play UT2k4 at 1280x1024 resolution and get a solid 30 fps. I would echo the other guys though, and buy the 6800. I got my 9800 Pro a good six months ago, if I was buying now, I'd go with the new generation.

hmmm, hadn't thought about no pvp. there are specific good/evil characters, each based in one of two cities supposedly enemies. you sure there's no pvp?
  14. Just bringing this back to the admin's attention: TDM is available as a gametype in the map voting, but there are no maps listed. Players must type in a map name through UTComp to switch to Deathmatch maps. Once the server is switched to the Deathmatch map, it will not change maps until another one is voted. Time runs out, and it goes to Overtime. I'd really like to have this fixed, as I've had a decent game going with the server on TDM. Got 5 or 6 players in there today on DM-Inferno. Also, do we have the DM maps from the Community Bonus Pack 2 on there? If not, could we add them please?
  15. don't even know what the first PC game I played was called. it was some wireframe 3D tank game. that was at a friend's house. My parents got an Apple and I played Where in the USA is Carmen Sandiego (black and white) and some freeware games. Then they moved up to a better computer, and I discovered Sim City 2000 and Falcon 3.0. Before that though, I think the very first video game I ever played was the original Mario and Duck Hunt on my cousin's NES. First game I got addicted to: Falcon 3.0 for PC, and a 3-way tie between NBA Jam '97, General Chaos and Street Fighter 2 for Sega Genesis. I never owned a console, but I'd spend entire weeks playing with my friend.
  16. um...weren't we going to put up an Enemy Territory server? what happened to that? you want a new game, that's a FREE game, one that EVERYONE in the community can get easily. Hell, it's less than 300 mb, we can host the download right here on gamerscoalition.com. I'm failing to understand why we aren't jumping on this FREE and popular game.
  17. yes, Raven Software is developing the game, but ID is distributing it, and is "looking over their shoulder" so to speak.

I don't know. I'm thinking it's more like this: WoW will be the culmination of all MMORPGs to date. But, EQII looks to be (and the devs are trying to make it) the first of a new generation of MMORPGs. I just watched all the released WoW movies, and then watched the EQII movies, and there just doesn't seem to be any comparison. EQII blows WoW away in the graphics department. Beyond that, EQII will have voice for EVERY npc in the game. Even some of the monsters will taunt you while you're fighting them. There are just four professions, fighter, mage, priest and scout. However, your profession is determined by how you play the game. You may be a priest, but at higher levels, depending on how you've played the game, you may become a Templar, or pehaps a Fury. Like WoW there are "instances" of certain areas, where your party can have the entire area to yourselves. If you watch the movies (and I HIGHLY recommend watching the movies) you will see the excellent looking combat. The characters get flung off their feet when hit, no more of the usual "head jerk." And did I mention that EVERY npc TALKS? I highly recommend watching at least this movie. It's in Quicktime format, and downloads quickly. It follows a group from creation through a few fights and quests and gives you a lot of awsome in-game footage. Definatly has me sold on EQII.
  19. or...wait...they didn't include the mods in the ECE download...that's a load of crap. oh well, downloading now. me likes the 3.2 mb/s I'm getting off Fileplanet. estimated time for the whole 84 mb...4 minutes.
  20. who cares about the new vehicles!?! there are a load of AWSOME mods in the ECE! Go play Chaos UT!
  21. Quake IV has been announced and PC Gamer gave it 10 pages in their last issue. It is, of course, being developed by ID Software, and will be using a tweaked Doom III engine (hence why I put it in this thread). For anyone (not me) who has followed the Quake series, Q4 will be single player focused, and take up the story minutes after Quake II ends. Also, the multiplayer will support more than 4 players. Looks as good or better than Doom III, but should have much better multiplayer, and the story is supposed to be much more human, giving you a real feeling of being there fighting alongside your buddies.
  22. LOL, sounds like LucasArts is at it again. When Age of Empires II was such a huge success...LucasArts came out with a Star Wars game that was so much a rip off of AoE2 that they failed to even change the look/name of the berry bushes. Now, they've done the same thing with Battlefield 1942. Just a really big mod, it sounds like.

At first I didn't think I would probably spend the money on WoW, much less on EQ2. However, after playing the Knight Online beta, I'm kind of hooked on these MMORPGs. So I'm debating about whether I should buy Warcraft or Everquest. Both have a huge, well developed backstory due to their predecessors. Both have been hyped to an insane level, and will both be filled with thousands of players. Then there's the graphics. From what I've seen of screenshots and movies, both are graphically excellent. Warcraft favours the earth tones, with lots of browns and dark reds. And it seems that EQ2 has more the fairy tale fantasy look, with rich bright greens and blues. Graphically, I'm definatly thinking EQ2 looks much better than WoW. Just take a look at these screenshots. That's pretty tempting, if you ask me.
  24. I love how the last person to post on most of those topics in the forums is [DOH]Tape
