Thanks for input. I do alot of photography and need space for the photos with 500 gb hd. So I can burn later dvd. Need alot of photo space. As a teacher I document everything and back it up on DVD. I will get the ko version of 8800 gts. I will look into the lower end model of sound card. I will also look into the ocz golt xt ram. I am concerned about the size of the tt big typhoon with my antec 900. I will overclock in future but not yet. One hurdle at a time. Should purchase in a day or two. By the way, do these coolers come with the heat sink "goop" or pad or do I need to purchase this also? I have been getting my donkey shot off in UT2004 by a Dark Irkon-any relation to you?

My 386 was at 25 mhz at about the same time as yours. My dot matrix and computer were my only tools for job hunting.! I started with Windows 3.0. To think how the computers have come. I forget what my internet providers was but it had advertisements all over the lower part of screen. I had to move to Compuserve or I was going to loose it. My favorite game was a scenario Pacific Fleet Attack sub against Japan naval craft. My next computer was a laptop with windows 95 with only 2 megs of graphics ram. I could play almost no games and could not upgrade!!!!! Everytime I think I know about computers and future I find out I don't

I just had a scary thought? They (Midway) would seem like idiots having a game named ut2007 come out in 2008. Purists like UT2003? Hmmm. I think the name change is due to some fear that they will not have it ready in time to their liking and fear some last minute problems. Wonder where I was? Flat tire at 6:10, no cell, and wheel frozen of so could not replace though tried in 10 degree weather (not counting wind chill). My TireFill stuff was frozen in my car. Tow guys couldn't get wheel off after walking 600 feet to nearest phone. They tried driving it with lugs off to loosen it. Nightmare. All I could do was defrost when FINALLY I got home. Smallville is on at 8:00 where I am so you must be on the west coast DA. Tek Almighty- the superclocked system in maximumpc uses a Antec900 case with 8800gps graphics card. The gtx version is about an inch longer and requires two power supply inputs to card to work. Coolmaster would work but and inch wider than my desk tower alcove. Still researching. Like the antec 900 solor scheme, fans, and lighting but could be too small for 8800gtx. Future card from ati may even be longer? Need to wait and see.

Tek Almighty, I have been away for a while reading up on computer construction. I just happen this night to read about the 1500 gamings system from maximum pc. There are two mags at moment maximumpc and pcgaminghardware (gpu 7900oc) by maximumpc (gpu 8800gps). The overclocking is insane. Taking a core 2 duo e6300 at 1.86 ghz and pushing it up to 2.86 ghz. I like the eVGA nForce680i SLI mobo. Nice upgrade option with socket type to quad core at later date. Handles ram speeds up to 1022. Both cases looks small and cramp though. I just bought a desk with computer alcove and only have about 9 in width for case. Looking into cases with fan systems that take air from front exhaust to back. Looked at those you guys presented including stacker but late and need to sleep. Thanks for resolution of screens and compatibility to gpu's. Sleepy time. Hope to frag some of you guys soon. This week is my all-time low for ut2004. Only killed cannon fodder a few times yesterday (he killed me an equal amount if not more).

There was a new map on Nepenthe a few months ago. I had a overgrown English countryside feel with incredible tall trees and nodes placed inside roofless towers or small cottages with caved in roofs. There was a river and a rope bridge. Had alot of green. Good terrain. Open and crowded areas to balance you skills and all vehicles. Like to find name so I can load it on my computer and play it more.

Overclock the computer? I am just trying to figure out how to put this together. My nvidea 6200 oc is so lame. Would you believe I had geeksquad put it in and they told me is was acceptable for gaming. I do not think they are familiar with ut2004. Got to get some books on "pc building for dummies". I agree with power source. Power consumption is on the rise and to increase longevity I would like a 1000 watt ps. I was looking to initially to upgrade to 770 watt ps. The 6600 is I believe 2.16 ghz. I could be wrong. My current system and software runs on 2.4 ghz. Dual core won't help with software made to use one chip. If 6600 is 2.4 ghz I will not mind. Will have same performance with my older software. I will take your word on cpu fan. For longevity, would not ram ddr2-1066 ram be better than ddr2-800? Alot to think about but have time. Ut2007 is not scheduled to arrive until about June. Will have to struggle by with my 2.4 ghz and NVidea 6200 oc graphics card. Look forward to seeing you on Nepenthe & SCK.

I like the Thermaltake Armor Series VA8000BWS Black Aluminum / Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case. Not too expensive at 150. The xion looks a little small. The Thermaltake has better reviews. Thanks for your input on SLI mobo. The best features due seem to come with sli. I only want one graphics card. Like the option of a second at a later date and the option of including a quad core chip when price drops. The ram for the moberboard I am looking at is clocked at about 1000 mhz. THe hot rod rig. My mistake calling it the wrong name. I like the duo processors but wonder if I will be able to upgrade to a quad core with same hardware? I think I will build one. Have to get some more tech info. Each mobo will have within its own specs as to whether or not it will support quad core. Just check the specs. I am looking at a mobo (motherboard) that has sli and can handle duo and quad core chips. Can handle two 8800 gts graphics but only use one to cut down on overall price. The system I got on line costs about 3600 but has really high end stuff. I can cut is down to about 2600 which is what I want to spend. No dual graphics or 24 in monitor. I will wait for ut2007 before I build. On another note, what case types are you choice in building. Small cases more compact but chance of cramping of equipment, etc. Large cases easier to build in but LARGE and tend to be frumpy looking. I do not necessarily want something that looks like a small fridge next to my desk. Thanks for input.

Does that Alien setup include a 20" monitor. I figure a slightly bigger monitor will make flitter, bushwack, etc a little bigger for my long range attacks. (I dodge about as well as a monkey with one foot nailed to ground.) Come to FF early with all your new hardware/software, and we will build it on the spot and having in running like a greased kitten on crack in 4 hours... Given enough beer, I could shorten that to 2 hours... Where and what is FF? Nice to have experienced friends to learn from. Any forums or texts to help with pc building like " Computer building for dummies"? I am not that technically savy electronically and would need to justify the expense to build one.

Unfortunately, I am a computer user and not a computer builder. I have no experience beyond putting in additional ram into a computer. Opening the chassis scares the hell out of me. I will wait to see how the future graphics cards start to appear. I am leaning toward the dell xps for around $4000 with Quad core 2.66 Ghz, 8800 gtx, 2 mg ram, and 1 kilowatt of power. Surprise that their normal $4000 system gets only 750 watt but $2000 model customized to $4000 gets you a 1 kilowatt. Only one less year in warranty. Warranty increase costs less then price of better power source. Go figure? Thanks for info. You did give me alot to think about guys.

I like playing ut2004. I get killed about as much as I kill normal players. Advanced players like bushwack, flitter, and Ebits my kill/ be killed falls significantly. I feel my system is limiting me. These are good players, but I feel simetimes I am moving in slow motion during gaming and not because of ping. I currently have a 5 year old pentium 4 2.4 ghz system. I upgraded the video card to NVidea 6200 and ram and notices improvements, but system is agp. Cannot use the agp Nvidea 7800gs due to 400 watt requirement my system only 250 watt. Not cost effective to upgrade card, powersource, etc. Time to buy a new computer. There are alot of gaming machines out there like gateway (fx530) , dell (xps710), and velocity micro (velocity raptor), but I am confused on some of the different system aspects. (I will also get a new monitor with first two 20"vs24" wides screen) Larger monitor means larger things to aim and shoot at. I know direct X10 graphic will be in future gaming systems and NVidea newest graphics cards are well suited. I wonder about the radeon 1950x crossfire. From what I have read, it cannot do x10 graphics but is comparible to Nvidea 8800gtx. The radeon had better benchmarks than the Nvidea. Can this graphics card work with games like ut2007 without X10 graphics? Also, some chips can be overclocked. Dell can take a x6800 chip and factory overclock to 3.47 Ghz. What are the real benefits? Making something work harder I feel not good. Higher heat and more power consumption required? Lastly, dual whatever. Dual graphics cards and dual processors? I know 2 are better than one when software designed for dual chips but should I stick with one card for graphics? I remember reading about a quad 2.93 Ghx system for 710 xps for only about $700 dollars more. Quad means 4 processor chips? I do not see software developers developing software to single, dual, and quad processors soon.

Just recently, the numbers playing on Nepenthe have gone up. I think this is due to maybe holiday free time, and slow down in peoples' business dealings. Before that, there has been a decline in number of people playing. Most just jump to SCK and don't look at Nepenthe. I have seen players I do not recognize playing Nepenthe around 3:00 PM but the disappear as soon as night comes Experience players have an advantage naturally over the inexperienced players. They just have more playing time and map experience. One way to increase numbers and appeal is to start incorporating new maps. Not all new, just a few over the normal crossfire, torlan, etc (staples). Nepenthe had two maps that was a nice change. One was I believe "sand crack". It was desert setting with two ravines and well balanced sides. One that did not last long-I have no idea the name of. It was a woodland setting with nodes in dilapidated buildings with no roofs or towers with no tops. It had a alot of nooks and crannies to set up attack and defense positions and had the normal assortment of vehicles. It even had a rope bridge. The later map required quick thinking, and adapting to new environments which offers the inexperienced a more equal footing to the experienced. It also offers the experience something new than same old thing. Normally Nepenthe has map rotation, but have not seen it in a while. SCK is already doing the tried and true. Why go to Nepenthe when you can find same and more people at SCK?

Noticed that also. Actually Nepenthe was down first for a while then SCK went. I was manning a tank machine gun and we were winning at Frostbite. Where you on blue or red? I think the server for Nepenthe and SCK are on same server site but not sure about it. Flitter will show soon to fill us all in.

My system is AGP. SIGH. Bought it when sli and agp were contending. I am limited to gs model of 7800. Thanks for input. WIll upgrade to SLI computer maybe in another year. Micro Velocity is offering decent gaming machines with 8800 gtx dual core processors etc. No monitors though but happy with 19 inch I have now.

Newest form of photoshop elements 4.0 has most the of features and now included curves. Good for people with low cash funds.

I normally have my sound effects real low so I can communicate with others during matches. Not that it helps me in contributions but at least I know what I am not doing correctly. I have found in pubbing that sound effects do have a value. Recently I was on the Dawn map and my team was loosing. I decided to act as sniper on outcropping near top of elevator. My idea was to cover the nearby node and protect the core in my limited fashion. I was viewing the scene when I heard a tribarrel rocket laucher start to load. I felt that this was odd in that I had the shocker out. I look over my shoulder to left and see a guy 4 paces away. He is not moving and it dawns on me he is not my team's color scheme. It is none other than our friend Bushwack. It feel my death is immanent and need to do something. In shock, I normally have my left hand do a multifinger spasm over my nostromo movement keys and my right hand mouse tries to aim at Bushwack and call up a useful weapon. Sound effects do have a value. (In hind sight I feel Bushwack was trying to find out how much of my body would show falling to my core ground on impact and death by 3 rockets at same time. Maybe my upper torso?, maybe just my head?. I got hit with tank on hill pointblank on Torlan and just saw my torso and upper left leg left one time.)
